.DISTRICT MESSAGES. RYAN MATHIAS 2014 – 2015 DISTRICT GOVERNOR

jENALEE BEAZLEY 2014 – 2015 INTERNATIONAL TRUSTEE

Hello Rocky Mountain District Key Clubbers,

Hello Rocky Mountain Key Club,

I hope all of you are having a fantastic school year and a service filled year of Key Club! My year so far has been very productive and eventful. Since you last heard from me the Rocky Mountain District Board has been hard at work spreading the word of service. In August we attended the second board meeting of the year and discussed this years goals and future events. Lieutenant Governors were assigned the task of planning divisional fall rallies in order to train club officers and keep members informed of international and district news. Additionally the Key Leader weekend events occurred and ensued many future service leaders in the Rocky Mountain District. Soon the third board meeting of the year with commence in November. This meeting is special because the district board is being graced with the presence of out International Trustee Jenalee Beazley! This amazing girl is our representative on the international level of Key Club. Personally I am very excited to have her at the meeting. I am very proud of each and every one of the Key Club members our district. It can become difficult once school starts to stay motivated about service, and from what I have observed that has not been the case with you all. Remember that service leadership is a passion and each and every action of service performed will change lives. As it gets colder many service opportunities are available such as: coat drives, food drives, toy collection, and distribution of Thanksgiving meals. Even adopting a sidewalk in your neighborhood and maintaining it when it snows is a great idea. Do not forget to keep in contact with your divisional lieutenant governors and inform them about your clubs and ideas. I also love to hear from you all, so feel free to contact me at any time. Key Club could not achieve without its members and all of your efforts and passion motivate me beyond belief.

My name is Jenalee Beazley and I am incredibly honored to have the opportunity to serve this district as your International Trustee. Since we will be teammates in service this year, I would like to offer you some information about myself. I am going to be a senior in Carefree, Arizona, and starting my fourth year as a Key Club member. I have previously had the privilege to serve as Club Vice-President, District Webmaster, and District Governor. Along with Rocky Mountain, I also have the privilege to serve the California-Nevada-Hawaii and Ohio Districts. As Sister Districts you will have the opportunity to learn from one another as you build ideas from each other. As Trustee, I will create a path for communication between the districts. I encourage you to reach out to the members of your Sister Districts as they have the potential to be valuable teammates in service by offering different perspectives. Key Club International is an organization that we all hold dear to our hearts. I promise to care about what is best for this organization. I promise be loyal to the values we uphold as Key Club Members. I promise to be obedient to the bylaws and governing system of this institution. I promise to give back to all that Key Club has given me. Above all else, I promise to give Key Club International’s Rocky Mountain District everything I can. Thank you for reading. I look forward to working with you and developing a year of unimaginable success.

Founded in 1950, the annual Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF program is the most successful emergency relief fundraiser in existence for children who need more than candy. Since its beginning, the program has raised over $170 million for life-saving causes like the ELIMINATE project, which aims to eradicate maternal and neonatal tetanus from thirdworld countries. But did you know? The benefits of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF go beyond ELIMINATE. DIVISION SPOTLIGHT:

VIVIANA VERDE

. DIV. 9 LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR .

“My goals for my division are to really improve communication and visit every club at least once. I also want to keep up high standards and volunteering hours that we have had in years previous, but it is my goal as an LTG to really reach out to every single one of my clubs and give them my support in anything they could need. I want to strengthen the relations between clubs and over all make the division a whole, and to do this I want to hold more divisional fundraisers and service projects.”

11

WHAT M WHAT MAKES A GOOD LTG? “In my“In opinion, passion. You really have have to lo organization and having such to love the a large influence on the lives of others. An LTG has to be dedicated to their division and every single member of its clubs, because that's who they're representing to the District Board and ultimately all of Key Club. An LTG needs to love what they do and make the best of everything.”

HOW MANY CLUBS HAVE YOU VISITED? “So far, I have visited four clubs, including Jefferson Academy, Lakewood High School, Bear Creek High School, and my home club.”

WHAT EVENTS HAVE YOU HELD? “I hosted a Presidents’ Council Meeting in late August and Fall Rally in late September. My Fall Rally was run by six LTGs: Christianne Padilla (3), Madison Troudt (15), Julianna Zhao (11), Brayan Rodriguez (6), Josie Middleton (14), and myself. I have to say, I could not have done it without their precious help. We first educated our members about many aspects of Key Club International and the Eliminate Project, including a quiz where we gave out prizes. We also advertised for this year's District Convention and the upcoming Key Leader events. After this, two of the LTGs and myself held officer training as the other half took general members and played ice breakers for the remaining time.”

KAREN HUNLEY COLUMBINE HS KEY CLUB ADVISOR “Viviana has been a real spark plug to our Key Club at Columbine High School. She actually got a head start on the school year by visiting the Columbine Kiwanis Club several times during the summer. The Kiwanians treasure her enthusiasm and happy smile, and she was extremely grateful for our support. She thinks Kiwanians are the greatest! Viviana, along with our club president Olivia Greenwood and new sponsor Mrs. Maryann Kane, has really invigorated our Key Club. From the start of the year, there have been meaningful activities for members to participate in, and Vivi herself has been visible among them. She pitched in to help at our Summerset cold drink sale at Clement Park; served water at the Emily's Parade motorcycle event to Bailey, CO; attended Key Leader as a student facilitator; is present at all club meetings; and is helping work on Trick or Treat Street decorations. She has been instrumental in upgrading our service hours record-keeping system. She does all this in addition to a challenging academic schedule. In addition to contributing to our club, Viviana takes her responsibility for Division 9 seriously. She publishes an online newsletter for all clubs. She promoted Fall Rally. She is scheduling visits to all clubs in the division. Vivi's contacts with members of her former club, Bear Creek, help her spread good ideas and fellowship to all clubs. She also contributes to our Kiwanis club newsletter. Because of her energy, enthusiasm, and action, I would promote Viviana Verde as the BEST Lieutenant Governor.”

It’s food drive season! Volunteer at a local homeless shelter or soup kitchen.

Help your community rake up those pesky piles of fallen leaves!

For many, the holiday season comes with a rush of chaotic excitement. For others, the seemingly endless monthly festivities can leave things in a state of overwhelming disarray. Whether it’s a yard cluttered with fallen branches and leaves, a sidewalk littered with remnants of pumpkin spice lattes, or a family struggling to cook a warm meal this Thanksgiving, the opportunities to get out and serve are everywhere. This fall, pay forward the blessings in your lives and give your community something to be thankful for. Seasons change, but the joy and need for service lasts forever.
