My high school club is hosting a Soda Tab Collection Drive during the month of September to benefit our local Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House uses collection drives like these as one of their significant fundraisers. In order to make the greatest impact possible, we set it up such that classes compete against each other. The class that collects the most will win a doughnut party! This service project is a great way to start off your Key Club year, as it is simple, free, and unites your club, school, and community with one common goal.

Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF holds a dear place in my heart, as it was my first ever Key Club event. Not only do you get to relive your childhood and dress up for Halloween, but you also get to trick-or-treat for a great cause! Kiwanis and UNICEF partnered with the Eliminate Project in 2010 with the goal of eradicating maternal and neonatal tetanus across the globe. Now, we are extremely close to reaching our target of $110 million. Neonatal tetanus kills one baby every 11 minutes, totaling to approximately 49,000 infant deaths annually. However, for just $1.80, a newborn can be saved. Last year, the Kiwanis family raised half a million dollars for the Eliminate Project through Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF alone.

Key Leader is open to any high school student, regardless of their membership in Key Club. It is a great way to bring some energy to your club, especially with regards to your club officers. While there is a cost, PLEASE do not let money stand in the way of someone from your club attending. I have experience with requesting and collecting donations from Kiwanis, community members, school boards, and fundraisers, and would be more than happy to help. I am attending the Roundup River Ranch Key Leader.
