Hello Division 14! It was my birthday last month, and hopefully in honor of my birthday, you all had an amazing 31 days of October! But now, it’s time to shift our attention on to November.

Monthly reports

I love November. To me, it symbolizes a new cycle: I’ve recently aged and the beginning of the end of first semester commences.

Key leader

My volleyball season ended in October, and now I’m hibernating until Tennis starts in the spring.

Key club week

Monthly reports I will continue to remind you all of Monthly reports because of their importance to the board, as well as you. Monthly reports helps us, the board members, stay updated and aware of how your club is doing!

The deadline for monthly reports are the last Thursday of each month! This month, the deadline is the 26th!

To access the form, please visit the Rocky Mountain Key Club website at rmdkeyclub.org, hover over the ‘Resources,’ select ‘Club Monthly Reports,’ fill out the form, and submit!

Key leader Reminder, anyone interested on attending Key Leader during 16-18 of October, must register in the upcoming week! After that, no spots are guaranteed.

Key club week Key Club Week gives you the opportunity to show your community what Key Club is truly about: service. Each day places an emphasis on service, to promote Key Club within our homes, schools and communities and to make Key Club a household name.

Do your part to make sure Key Club Week—November 2 - 6, 2015—starts Kiwanis Family Month with a bang. Join other Key Clubs from around the world by following #KeyClubWeek on Twitter.

Monday, november 2nd Show your K in every way—Show people what Key Club is all about! Spread the word by wearing Key Club gear .

Tuesday, november 3rd Kudos to the Key players—Personally thank all the Key Club supporters you know— teachers, advisors and other Key players.

Wednesday, november 4th Dare to Care—Key Club has three preferred charities—UNICEF, March of Dimes and Children's Miracle Network. Take time to focus on service projects.

Thursday, november 5th Random Acts of Kindness—A smile goes a long way. Spread happiness throughout your school by doing little random acts of kindness.

Friday, november 6th Connect the Ks—Key Club is the largest high school service organization in the world and is a member of the Kiwanis family. Celebrate the entire family of Kiwanis by getting the whole gang involved. Connect with local Kiwanis, Circle K International, Builders, Kiwanis Kids or Aktion clubs and team up for a joint service project.

Divisional council meeting Divisional council meetings are meetings where all club presidents, vice-presidents, and another other club officers or members meet with me at a location and we touch base on the going-ons of Division 14.

I’m planning on having my first Divisional Council Meeting on Sunday, November 22nd, at Conifer Public Library. I also hope to invite some Kiwanis members from around the Division, so there can be communication between Kiwanis and Key Club.

Beginning of November, I will begin email advisors and presidents to figure out the best time for everyone to meet. Right now, I’m thinking 1-3 PM. I will provide snacks! But if anyone would like to bring food as well, that would be much appreciated.

Can I stop talking about dues?

Key Club International is an enormous organization with about 270,046 members. To support an organization that big, dues are necessary. In the Rocky Mountain District dues need to $12.00 minimum, and it’s up to individual key clubs to decide if they want to raise that amount to fund other things such as club shirts.

Why pay dues? *info provided by the 2014-15 Capital District Treasurer, Ruthvik Gali Dues are the determining factor in a club’s status in the district. A club in ‘Good Standing’ is one which pays their dues on time. If a club misses the deadline to turn in dues, which is December 1st, the club will receive an official notice from the District Treasurer. When February 2st rolls around and a club hasn’t paid their dues, they are placed under Suspended status and the club will have to pay a $100 fine along with the dues the following year to be relisted as a club in ‘Good Standing.’

In the event that a club neglects to pay their dues two years in a row, the club will be listed as ‘Inactive,’ which can only be rectify by the Lieutenant Governor of the Division, who will have to recharter the club.

Rechartering a club requires a $300 fine and a minimum of 15 members and an official officer ceremony conducted by the Lieutenant Governor.

Dates to remember November 1 – Early Bird Dues deadline December 1– Regular Dues deadline December 31 – First time late notice to Key Club President and Advisors to clubs that haven’t paid dues.

Final thoughts I’m finally 16! I had an amazing birthday filled with testing and homework, so shout to school for not forgetting about me.

Hopefully, you’ve all been having a fun and educational time at school; learning and such.

Homecoming was last month for me (October 3rd), and I had such a fun time! Hope you all did as well.

November is one of my favorite months for two reasons: Thanksgiving, and the fact that listening to Christmas music becomes socially acceptable. So, in honor of Thanksgiving, and all things Christmas, please enjoy the month of November.

As I’m writing this conclusion, my mind is filled with the Chemistry exam I have yet to study for, but I’m also thinking of a quote to end on.
