Trick or treat for UNICEF Halloween is only a month away, and before you know it, October 31st will roll around! A fun idea for Halloween is to participate in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF. It’s a great opportunity to collect donations and to bring club members together for an event or party. All money collected will be used to support The Eliminate Project.

All about dues Dues are one of the most important things to Key Club International since it’s such an enormous organization with about 270,046 members and to fund an organization that big, dues are necessary. In the Rocky Mountain District dues need to be $12.00 minimum, and it’s up to individual key clubs to decide if they want to raise that amount to fund other things such as club shirts.

Why pay dues?

How to take part Decide with your club what kind of fundraiser you should do. Pre-order your collection boxes. Collect donations. Fill out the gift form and submit it with your club’s donations.

*info provided by the 2014-15 Capital District Treasurer, Ruthvik Gali Where to send funds Dues are the determining factor in a club’s status in the district. A club in ‘Good Standing’ is one which pays their dues on time. If a club misses the deadline to turn in dues, which is December 1st, the club will receive an official notice from the District Treasurer. When February 2st rolls around and a club hasn’t paid their dues, they are placed under Suspended status and the club will have to pay a $100 fine along with the dues the following year to be relisted as a club in ‘Good Standing.’ In the event that a club neglects to pay their dues two years in a row, the club will be listed as ‘Inactive,’ which can only be rectify by the Lieutenant Governor of the Division, who will have to recharter the club. Rechartering a club requires a $300 fine and a minimum of 15 members and an official officer ceremony conducted by the Lieutenant Governor.

How to pay dues Visit the key Club International website, click the ‘Dues & Reports’ link and follow the onscreen directions.

I will be in attendance during the Roundup River Ranch Key Leader and I think it will be a nice environment for me to meet/catch up with all of you, so please come to Key Leader so we can get acquainted!

Basic info When & Where October 16-18, 2015 – Windy Peak Roundup River Ranch – November 6-8, 2015 Key Leader + Key Club Key Club is the official Kiwanis leadership program and its philosophy mirrors that of Key Club.

Youth opportunities fund School is back in session and so is Key Club, along with service projects! To help with service projects is the Youth Opportunities Fund. To put it simply, the Youth Opportunities Fund is an endowed fund that grants Key Club International money to provide clubs with the resources necessary to aid service projects.

Cost $225 - A late fee of $25 will be added if you register less than two weeks before the event. Register is open, please visit the Key Leader website at keyleader.org to register. Email me any questions!

At the present, there is 1.8 million dollars in the Youth Opportunities Fund which you and your club can tap into! The application, which can be filled manually or electronically, is six pages long, but it requires you to add a great deal of detail about your service project and why you need the funds. The deadline for the application is October 15th, and the application can be found on the Key Club International website under the ‘Serve’ tab.

Final thoughts I received homework my first day back to school, and after months of not having homework, it was traumatic to say the least.

Hopefully, your first day back to school was less traumatic and much better than mine!

These last couple of weeks have been filled with nothing but volleyball practice, homework and school, but the best part about this time of year is the anticipation of fall!

Fall is the best season: it has the prettiest colors and the weather is just right, not too hot, not too cold. As always, I have another quote to share: “When thinking about life, remember this: no amount of guilt can change the past, and no amount of anxiety can change the future. - Unknown
