The EliMiNaTe Project The Eliminate Project, or Eliminate (for short), is a worldwide organization aspiring to ELIMINATE maternal and neonatal tetanus from the face of the planet! Each vaccination for the cure costs a mere US$1.80. The Eliminate Project is currently the Kiwanis Preferred Charity, meaning we teamed up with Eliminate and are striving to support their cause. Kiwanis has set a fundraising goal of $110 million dollars by the end of 2015, which will virtually pay for all of the vaccinations needed to vaccinate the entire world! As a District, we have set a fundraising goal of $25,209 by DCON 2015! That is a simple average of US$9 per member! As of Oct. 16, The Eliminate Project, Kiwanis’s global campaign for children, in partnership with UNICEF, has raised a grand total of US$71,517,311.40 vaccinating over 39,731,839 mothers and their future babies. As a Key Club, your number one fundraising focus of this year should be for the Eliminate Project. If you have any questions about Eliminate, contact our RMD Eliminate Chair Karalee Kothe at eliminatechair.kkothe@gmail.com.
Together, we can ELIMINATE MNT!
The Holidays ~ 2014 For Key Clubbers, the holiday season is the best time of year. People are filled with the holiday spirit and become more generous and more enthralled with the idea of giving back, just like we are 365 days a year! Late November kicks off the Holiday season and from there, all Key Club’s should be hard at work organizing fundraisers and service projects! Here are a list of fundraisers and service projects that fit perfectly within the Holidays!

Of The Month Fundraiser of the Month! In November, most things are a bit slower. Winter in settling in, and people are cozying up in a blanket watching a good movie! A great fundraiser thats perfect for minimal planning and easy money is a coin drive. Simply contact a number of local businesses and ask if you could set a coin collection jar at their counter. If they say yes, great! Once you have finalized the number of local businesses participating, sit down with your members and make the jars. Whatever your cause for fundraising, be it Key Club, Eliminate, or another charity, make sure to put a little blurb telling the public what it’s about on the jars themselves. Then distribute the jars and watch the coins flow in!

Why did the turkey cross the road? It was Thanksgiving, and he wanted people to think he was a chicken!

When It’s Empty Hopefully as a Treasurer, you never have to experience the terrible feeling of having to money in your club account. Unfortunately, it happens all too often. Sometimes its because of an unsuccessful fundraiser, or the lack of fundraisers all together, or even overdonation to charity. First, this article is going to talk about what to do IF your club account is empty, or very close to it. To put it simply, you need to generate more money. There are a few ways a club treasurer can do this: 1. You can design inexpensive fundraisers dedicated to raising money for the club fund. 2. You can dedicate club member dues to the club fund. 3. You can request a small loan from your sponsoring Kiwanis club to help you get the club back where it needs to be. To prevent your club fund from depleting, you need to be smart with your money. Sometimes Key Club’s forget that it costs money to put fundraisers together for charity and don’t realize how quickly their money is depleting. The best way to prevent an empty account is to constantly monitor your clubs spending and it’s income. Obviously you want to ensure that there is income, but the most important part is being aware of the income-spending ratio. Your income MUST be greater than you spending or your club will jump on a fast, downward spiral towards bankruptcy. If your club is ever are having any money problems, please contact me at treasurer.mcgarry@gmail.com so I can guide your club back on track.
