The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities® is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children in the Ozarks. Our cornerstone project is the Ronald McDonald House®… providing a “home away from home” for families of seriously ill and injured children hospitalized in Springfield. Since 1988, we’ve provided hope and comfort at our first House near Cox South for more than 8,400 families. On November 30, 2012, we opened Springfield’s second Ronald McDonald House on the 6th floor of Mercy Children’s Hospital and have already welcomed nearly 300 families. The Tooth Truck (our Ronald McDonald Care Mobile ®) provides dental treatment, prevention education and a daily tooth-brushing program for at risk children, primarily in school-based settings. We’ve helped over 14,800 children with 37,000 dental appointments and treatment valued at $8.6 million since July 2002. To learn more about the programs of RMHC ®, visit www.RMHCozarks.org.

Original Décor by Dan & Mollie Jessen Holiday Décor by Dan & Mollie Jessen

Dan & Mollie Jessen 1404 North Rich Hill Circle, Nixa The Villages at Wicklow The breathtaking home of Ray and Judi Kern was built in 2011 by Gary Herman & Associates and overlooks the 15th hole of the Highland Springs golf course. Ray & Judi customized their home from an original design by architect, Dale Peer. Judi’s incredible artistic touch can be seen in every detail of this expansive home. Beautiful murals, accented ceiling medallions, mirrors, draperies and fixtures have all either been created or modified by Judi to incorporate them perfectly into the Kern’s vision for the home. Their decorative theme is inspired by Ray & Judi’s deep Catholic faith and features an extensive angel collection. The ceiling of the prayer room showcases one of the famous Michael Angelo paintings from the Sistine Chapel. Their unique family photo wall features photographs of their extended family, each carefully placed from oldest to newest, and surrounded by a beautiful stencil the Kern’s found in London. Their kitchen, created by Judi and built by Alpine Wood Products, was recognized as the 2011 Best Kitchen by 417 Magazine. The Kern’s spend the majority of their time in the kitchen, which features an incredible pantry and a beautiful collection of plates by several artists including Norman Rockwell and Edna Hibel. You can look forward to beautiful holiday décor by the Kerns throughout your visit to their home.

Original Décor by Beth Marsh Holiday Décor by Beth Marsh

The Marsh Home West Rogersville

The charming eclectic home of Dan & Mollie Jessen is located within the Villages at Wicklow. This talented couple has placed modern art alongside customized antique family heirlooms in their new residence. The kitchen features custom alder wood cabinetry. The floors were constructed from rough saw pine to create a much older appeal. The dining room windows are balanced between old wood shutters and furnishings that the Jessens painted and distressed to accent this room perfectly. The living room features a 12-foot Christmas tree next to a magnificent fireplace with a mantle created from an antique Hungarian bed frame. The master suite is home to an antique radio from Dan’s great uncle, the bulbs of which reside in a nearby vase. Their son’s room is a little boy’s dream, with a bed custom-made by his father using two doors from their former home. The theme of his room is a tribute to his father’s career. The Jessens have maximized the space under the staircase to create the perfect laundry area. From the second level looking down into the living room, the Jessens have creatively incorporated leaded glass from Mollie’s childhood home. In the Jessen home you will find festive decorations, a holiday village and nine Christmas trees (with a special white one for Baby Lillian’s room).

Original Décor by Ray & Judi Kern Holiday Décor by Ray & Judi Kern

Ray & Judi Kern Highland Springs The charming Mediterranean-style home of the Marsh Family rests on five acres across from the community of Highland Springs. The home was designed and built by Sara Ray in 2004. The master suite, living room and kitchen open up to a lovely outdoor living area where Beth spends her time relaxing, gardening and enjoying the picturesque view. Mr. Marsh’s office features an outdoor theme with beautiful heavy crown molding. The kitchen counter was fashioned from granite, a material carried over to the nearby hearth and fireplace. The guest bedrooms were especially designed to accommodate the ten Marsh grandchildren. There is one for six granddaughters, where frequent tea parties are held, and one for the four Marsh grandsons. These rooms are joined by a Jack n Jill bathroom. In the girl’s room, you will see a counted cross-stitch piece created by Beth’s daughter, Myndi, of a tea party of dolls. This piece took over 800 hours to complete and accents this room perfectly. The home also features several pieces of artwork by Beth’s sister, artist Karolyn Farrell, and a treasured cross-stitch piece created by a friend who is now in her nineties. Beth will adorn the home with holiday décor, including her nativity and Santa collections, for your enjoyment this holiday season.

Original Décor by Patti Johnson Holiday Décor by Wickman Gardens

The magnificent home of Dr. Nancy O’Reilly was built by Howard Bailey. Decorated and furnished by Patti Johnson, her home rests on 20 acres in West Rogersville near the community of Highland Springs. Her European-inspired chateau is phenomenally furnished with spectacular artwork and attention to every detail. Original artwork, created by Nancy herself, is featured throughout the home as well as an extensive collection of glass sculptures from Nancy’s travels abroad. As you walk through room after charming room of this expansive home, you will enjoy the warmth of photographs and commissioned paintings of Nancy’s family and the incredible view of her property. Wickman Gardens will embellish the home with fabulous holiday décor for your enjoyment of this festive season.

Dr. Nancy O’Reilly On private gated property in West Rogersville

The eclectic home of Neal & Kim Wood, located in East Springfield, rests on property owned by Kim’s family for many years. The home is an authentic post and beam design, a style in which the beams of the house extend vertically the entire height of the structure and remain exposed within the home’s interior. The exterior is fashioned with cedar shingles. The beautiful wood flooring was created from salvaged wood from the bleachers of the former Parkview High School gymnasium. Kim’s incredible talent is featured throughout the home, most notably in the Fresco-style murals she created. Mr. Wood’s brother, a gifted artistic welder, designed the stair rail leading to the second floor master suite. His work can also be admired in the pedestal of the main level powder room. The lower level recreation room is home to the Charlie Brown Farewell Series by Thomas Everhart. Mr. Everhart was the only artist granted the rights by Charles Schultz to add color to these original lithographs. The back sleeping porch overlooks the wooded family property and a peaceful waterfall brings in the sounds of the outdoors to create the perfect sleeping environment during the warm summer months. We know you’ll enjoy this incredible home created by Kim Wood Designs and Fleur Interior Architecture, the businesses owned by this talented couple.
