of the Ozarks.

The mission of RMHC of the Ozarks is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children right here in the Ozarks. We dedicate our efforts and resources to two core programs. First, Springfield’s two Ronald McDonald Houses have welcomed over 11,000 families of seriously ill and injured children hospitalized in Springfield over the past 28 years. The Tooth Truck (our Ronald McDonald Care Mobile®) provides dental treatment and prevention education for at risk children with no access to dental care. We’ve completed the treatment plans of more than 20,000 kids since 2002 and started an on-site daily tooth-brushing program called the Healthy Smiles Academy.

The Old-World style home of Jason & Bertie Rader was custom-built by Michael Hair in 2014. This incredible home is perched on one of the highest points in southeast Springfield, providing a breath-taking, panoramic view over Natural Bridge Estates and the James River Valley. The home’s front exterior is surrounded by beautiful landscaping, designed by Wickman Gardens. An expansive back deck, extending the width of the home, captures the picturesque view and overlooks the family’s outdoor entertainment area. The home’s warm, rich interior selections are accented with custom artwork by homeowner, Bertie Rader. Her artistic style is captured in a beautiful outdoor painting as you enter the home and a unique family tree wall of photographs. The hearth room, where the family spends the majority of their time, adjoins their spectacular kitchen which boasts granite counter tops, a copper range hood and custom cabinetry. Their daughter’s lower-level bedroom features a crystal chandelier and custom walls fashioned by Bertie using stencils and charcoal textured paint with metallic highlights. Adding a creative touch to her son’s bedroom, Bertie is nearing completion of a Busch Stadium wall mural in their son’s Cardinals themed bedroom. Wickman Gardens will be adding a festive touch to the Rader Home this holiday season.

The traditional home of Karla Myers rests in the picturesque Villages at Wicklow, a community inspired by County Wicklow in Ireland. Karla purchased the property in September of 2015 and completed remodeling and interior design of the main living areas in May 2016. Karla’s love for her extensive glassware and Fostoria crystal collection was the inspiration for the brilliant blue and vibrant green interior décor color palate of the main living areas. Karla commissioned Nathan Taylor of Obelisk Home to bring her vision to life, and his extraordinary design features gray white oak floors, unique furniture and drapery selections, bursts of color and dramatic chandelier lighting. The master suite features furniture selections by Nathan and a modern glam decorating style incorporating fuchsia accents and draperies. Rich jewel tones fill the home’s lower level family and entertainment rooms where several family heirlooms are displayed. Karla’s favorites include a restored pie safe which has been repurposed behind the wet bar and a hope chest functioning as a television stand, which still holds her mother-in-law’s wedding dress. Several pieces of beautiful artwork can be seen throughout the home from local artists Dustin Burgert, T.D. Scott, Shelly Forbes, Stephanie Cramer and Marty Goodnight; and Karla has currently commissioned a piece to feature her treasured ‘Songs of Praise’ hymnal. Nathan Taylor will be creating a spectacular holiday atmosphere at the Myers home for your enjoyment during the Cup O’Cheer Homes Tour.

A Ronald McDonald House Supporter East Springfield

Karla Myers Villages at Wicklow

This recently completed farmhouse chic-style home rests on five acres in east Springfield. The couple worked closely with local architectural design expert, Susie Weiland, to realize their dream of building a low maintenance home with natural lighting and an open floor plan. This area of Springfield was established as a sub-division in the 1950s and is the ideal location for this unique home. Constructed by local builder, Adrian Rhoads, the exterior of the home was fashioned with a Hardee board and cement composite and features a gabled metal roof. Clean lines, hickory floors, and sliding barn doors are all interior features which create a perfect, modern farmhouse feel. Their kitchen features marble countertops, custom cabinetry, a copper range hood and an expansive farmhouse table. Ellecor Design provided their expertise for design and color selections for the home’s interior. The living room and master suite share a stone fireplace which features a painting by local artist, Ursula Wollenberg. This amazing artwork covers the family’s flat-screen television when not in use. Their two sons share the upper level suite which features custom built in beds with drawers and bookshelves. Their room is accompanied by the “Boy’s Den”, where the boys can host friends and Dad for a little fun and rough housing. This wing of the house also includes a home gym, overlooking the family’s back property, two guest bedrooms, fabulous laundry studio and pantry. This couple and their design team have created a remarkable contemporary farmhouse retreat that we know you’ll enjoy this holiday season.
