In November 2018, I went to the hospital for pregnancy complications and was admitted to the Prenatal Care Unit at Cox Hospital in Springfield. Our baby was due on January 15, 2019, but had to be taken on December 11, for the safety of mom and baby. Our little girl Aleiah was delivered successfully, but due to the nature of the complications, mom had to be kept in the ICU for an additional day, and Aleiah was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Mom recovered well and Aleiah was kept in the NICU until January 20. We spent over two months at the hospital and at the Ronald McDonald House, including Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. We are forever grateful for the volunteers and the hospitality of the Ronald McDonald House. If it weren’t for the generosity of everyone, we would not have been able to be together during the trying times we had. The House was amazing, the volunteers treated us like family, and in many ways, they became family to us. Even though we were not at home during the Holidays, we were made to feel at home. We are so thankful that we were able to be together as a family the entire time our baby was in the hospital; this is what’s truly important to us.
