Family of Marianna Brady Home: Pineville, MO (McDonald County)
Marianna was born on August 19, 2009 and
diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis 2. With this diagnosis, she is covered in brown birth marks called Café ‘o’ Le spots and is also at risk for developing tumors on her spine and optic nerves. So, as a precaution, once a year we have traveled to Children’s Mercy in Kansas City to dilate her eyes and check for tumors. When Marianna was 8 years old, she began complaining of headaches, so her Neurologist ordered her to have an MRI. The MRI indicated that she has a tumor on her optic nerve and she immediately started Chemotherapy treatments, once a month for 12 continuous months. During this emotional time in our lives we were overwhelmed with appointments and hospitalizations. The Ronald McDonald House became our second home. Staying at the House was such a blessing to our family. The staff was so friendly and made sure we were comfortable while we were there. Every night there was a hot meal for us to sit down and eat, and the kitchen was always fully stocked for you to easily make a meal or a quick snack. Everything that the Ronald McDonald House provides to families is free to the family. During the hardest, scariest time of our lives, the Ronald McDonald House gave us comfort and peace. I cannot thank the staff or RMHC enough!
