Brownfield Family
Home: Buffalo, MO (Dallas County) Our story begins when Derek and I found out we were having MoMo twins. We knew the complications would be high, but we never expected to deliver and lose one of our girls at 28 weeks after Reagan showed signs of distress due to umbilical cord entanglement. On June 16th (after two weeks of inpatient stay), I was rushed back for an emergency cesarean. Reagan was born 2 lbs. 3 oz. and Kenadi was born 2 lbs. 8 oz. Reagan’s heart rate never recovered, and she passed away. Kenadi was rushed back to the NICU where she would stay for the next 10 weeks and 5 days. The Ronald McDonald House took our family in for Kenadi’s entire journey. They allowed us to be within walking distance to our daughter. In the height of financial stress due to medical bills, we didn’t have to worry about the extra costs of being away from home, such as gas, housing, and meals. They provided a bed, warm shower, and meals every day, as well as a brick in remembrance of our Reagan. More importantly, the House gave us the gift of time with our daughter. We were able to care for her as much as we could; and our family couldn’t be more thankful for the many donors and volunteers that make such a life changing charity possible.
