Cummins Family HOME: Cassville, MO (Barry County)

Barbara and Casey Cummins were

expecting twins on July 26th. However, Barbara’s cervix started dilating on April 8th and she needed to stay close to the hospital. She started having strong contractions on April 27th, and had an emergency C-section! CJ and Curtis were born just after 27 weeks and were admitted into the NICU. An inflamed intestine and a UTI brought the family many initial scares for CJ; and Curtis experienced trouble breathing, frequent acid reflux, a chronic lung disease and a cleft lip, prolonging his hospital stay. Barbara and Casey found great comfort at the Ronald McDonald House and said it was a nice place to unwind. They appreciated the hospitality the staff offered, the laundry center and the dinners provided. They loved being able to see the boys whenever they wanted to and feel very grateful for the House. Since their release from the hospital, CJ and Curtis are both doing well. “First Steps” frequently comes to check up on both of the boys, and CJ now weighs over 11 pounds! Curtis has lost a little weight since being out of the NICU and has surgery scheduled to fix his cleft lip. They both are getting close to crawling; and CJ likes to bounce while Curtis enjoys standing and walking with his parents help.
