FAMILY PROFILE
Matson
Home: Dadeville, MO (Dade County)
When Sam started having vision difficulties,
vomiting, and extreme lethargy, we took him to several different clinics. After seeing no change in his symptoms, we went to the Mercy emergency room. A few hours later, a CT scan discovered Sam had a brain tumor, and he was immediately sent to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Over the next month, Sam had several operations and overcame so much. He dealt with many side effects including cognitive confusion, temporary blindness, seizures, loss of fine and large motor skills, and vision nystagmus. We were so blessed with the doctors and staff at Mercy, who were so informative and caring. A nurse helped us get connected with the Ronald McDonald House. Having a room in the same building as my son’s room was a huge relief! It was such a blessing to have a nice, clean, well-maintained room with a shower and a soft bed. It was extremely nice to be able to do laundry right there as well. The House even helped with meals and as Sam felt better, we were able to take advantage of the playroom. Everyone was so nice and helpful. And I cannot express in words how thankful we are for everyone who has helped make the Ronald McDonald House possible. The Ronald McDonald House, not only helped us financially, but it also removed a lot of stress during the most difficult month of our lives. Thank you for easing our burden and for being a blessing to our family and many others. God Bless.
