Home: Butterfield, MO (Barry County) In 2016, our daughter was born almost eight weeks early in a Springfield, MO hospital. Having her in the NICU was scary enough, but knowing that “home” was 60 miles away was another stressor itself. The cost of a hotel room for who knows how long was not an option for us. Thanks to the Ronald McDonald House, that stress was taken away. Having a private room and bathroom, along with a place to do our laundry, allowed us to take care of ourselves without feeling like we were leaving her behind. The army of volunteers that came in daily with hot meals and snacks were unbelievable. Other locals gave us weekly gifts of homemade blankets, bibs, and more, and these are things we will always treasure. The House staff and volunteers were some of the most loving and caring people we have ever met. They were our family for the five weeks that we spent at the House, and I don’t know how we would have managed mentally, physically or financially without them. They truly are angels!
