Family Profile
Greenway Family Home: Monett, MO (Lawrence County)
On December 31, 2019, while the world was welcoming 2020, my youngest daughter, Heather, was being rushed into emergency surgery. Heather’s appendix had ruptured and little did we know, this was just the beginning of a long fight for her life.
We live an hour away from the hospital and our family was now separated during one of the most difficult times in our lives. Then, the Ronald McDonald House near Cox South came to our rescue. When we first arrived, we were greeted by such kind and caring people. Everyone made us feel right at home and a tremendous burden had been lifted from our shoulders. Every evening there was a hot meal ready for us, served by amazing and caring volunteers. Throughout our stay the staff rejoiced with us on our good days and were there offering words of encouragement on the tough ones. Knowing we didn’t have to worry about anything except Heather getting better was such a blessing and kept our family going. During the course of Heather’s 29 days at the hospital and her five surgeries, our family was fortunate to stay a total of 20 days at the Ronald McDonald House. It was such a comfort to have this wonderful ‘home-away-from-home” lessening our stress just a little. We will never forget the difference they made in our lives. Thank you, Ronald McDonald House, from the bottom of our hearts for all you did for our family and for all the lives you touch!
