Family Home: Belton, MO (Cass County) On December 2nd, 2016, we received a surprise call from the hospital in Springfield that our soon-to-be-adopted baby girl was born. We made arrangements with work and left the next day to be with her. She was being held in the NICU due to her premature birth, pulmonary stenosis, and PDA. She was also struggling with eating and had to have a feeding tube. We spent the next four weeks in the NICU taking turns going back and forth to work and staying with our other children at home. The Ronald McDonald House gave us the ability to stay near our baby with our entire family without dealing with a 3-hour commute and trying to sleep in the hospital room. The Ronald McDonald House went above and beyond for us, providing hot meals for dinner and a kitchen to prep food for our family during the day. Soon, Christmas arrived, and our baby was still in the NICU. On Christmas morning, the Ronald McDonald House surprised us with gifts for each of us, including our baby girl! Their generosity was more than we could ever ask for. We were truly blessed! We ended up staying until New Year’s Eve and left feeling like part of their family.
