Malone Family
Home: Springfield, MO (Greene County) July 10th was an eventful day, to say the least! As brand-new parents, we were anxious and excited as we went to the hospital to be induced. After 19 long hours of labor, our newborn baby girl joined us in the world! She let out a small cry as they put her on my chest and then everything became a blur for my husband and me. Suddenly, the nurses took her out of my arms, and she was rushed to the NICU. My husband and I had every emotion running through our bodies as we told our family what was going on. Soon after she was settled in the NICU, they let us go down and see our little Whitley. From what we understood, her CRP levels were very high from the trauma of labor, and they would need to give her a high dose of antibiotics for a few days. We were certain that we would want to be at the hospital as much as they would let us while she was staying in the NICU. An advocate from the Ronald McDonald House visited us and explained how we could stay next to the hospital while our baby girl was recovering. They provided meals, a laundry facility, and a nice room for my husband and me to stay at no cost to us. Needless to say, we felt very blessed and thankful for everything the Ronald McDonald House had to offer us and many other families with children in the hospital! Whitley is now an active, happy and healthy little girl, and we are so thankful for the experience we had staying at the Ronald McDonald House!
