Nick Cuccia Family

Home: Rogers, AR (Benton County) On July 13th, 2017, our 15-year-old son Nick was riding his bike home from work when he hit an obstacle on the sidewalk causing him to veer in the road into oncoming traffic. He was struck by a bus traveling 55 mph and was air-lifted to Springfield with a fractured skull, broken femur, broken pelvis, lacerated kidney and collapsed lungs. The team of doctors gave him a 5.5% chance of survival. Of course, this was a devastating blow for our family, and our only concern was the healing and recovery of our son. It was difficult to find comfort in those dark days. The Ronald McDonald House is on-site in the hospital, which is so important when you can only allow yourself a few hours at a time to rest. It was not only a warm bed, but it was a warm, friendly, hospitable place to find much-needed comfort. The staff was so inviting and kind, and it was amazing how every need was covered before we even recognized we had a need. At the House, we felt like we were at home, and we are forever grateful to those who support the Ronald McDonald House.
