In August of 2019, our family finally received our long wish for a child. Antonia was born five weeks early weighing just over three pounds. She was not yet able to come home and her mother was very sick. While mom and baby began to heal, our family worried about how we would be able to make the costly, hour-long drive to and from our home in Reeds Spring to Cox Hospital to care for our new baby each day. We were so happy to welcome Antonia into our lives, but we were shocked and overwhelmed with the unknowns. Our hospital caseworker recommended the Ronald McDonald House, and when we learned of the many blessings they offer, we jumped at the chance to stay there. We were welcomed to a warm, comforting place to sleep and enjoy a hot meal every night. The staff was so caring and willing to listen to us. Nightly family dinners with the other families staying allowed us to support each other and helped us realize we weren’t alone. People genuinely cared about us. Antonia spent three weeks in the NICU getting the care she needed, and our family was so grateful to have received the care we needed from the Ronald McDonald House. The services they provide were invaluable to our family and so many others in times of worry and need. A place to go that feels like a home, where we could be near our child, is something we’ll never forget. The staff and volunteers that make this service possible were a true light in our daughter’s first weeks of life. ShareAHeart
