Torres Family

Home: Rolla, MO (Phelps County) The Torres Family On a cold, windy Christmas Eve, 12/24/2016. I was rushed from our rural local hospital to Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO. At 34 weeks, I had been diagnosed with preeclampsia and it was too early to deliver at our local hospital. It was a whirlwind of a night. The following day, Christmas Day, our sweet blessing, Joseph Emanuel Torres was born at 1:58 PM, 4 ib. 14 oz., 17 inches long. He was perfect, but had to be admitted in the NICU for observation and temperature regulation. My husband, Jose and I knew that we could not leave our sweet boy. Thankfully, we learned about the Ronald McDonald House and what they had to offer while our baby was in the hospital. Little did we know that this place would become our home for the next three weeks. Our stay at the Ronald McDonald House will be one that we will never forget. The staff was kind and accommodating. The rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and toasty warm in the cold winter months while we were guests. The home cooked meals were delicious, and a nice way to rejuvenate ourselves after a stressful day while our baby boy was in the NICU. Most of all, the Ronald McDonald House made it affordable for us to be able to stay with our son. Thank you for having a wonderful place for families to find comfort and refuge while their loved ones are in the hospital. You will forever be in our thoughts and prayers.
