Zavada Family

Home: Aurora, MO (Lawrence County) June 15, 2017 was a very big day for our family…one we will never forget. At 35 weeks gestation, we were rushed to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for an emergency C-section to deliver our son due to uterine rupture. He was unresponsive when born, and mom was hemorrhaging. Luckily, both mom & baby pulled through, but it was only the beginning of our journey. Our son spent two months in the NICU for multiple health problems due to the trauma from his birth. We were even transferred out of the area for a higher level of care for three weeks out of that two months. Our son underwent multiple tests, blood transfusions, x-rays, ultrasounds, MRI’s, talk of surgery and even a possible organ transplant. He is now five months old, and by the grace of God, his body has recovered on its own. We did not live close to the hospital; and being under an extreme amount of stress already, the last thing we wanted was to be away from our baby. The Ronald McDonald House was such a blessing to our family. They gave us a place to unwind, have nice warm meals, and gave our other three-year-old son a place to play outside of the hospital room. The staff could not have been more pleasant and caring. I don’t know what we would have done without them, and it is such a wonderful charity. Words could never fully express how grateful we are!
