– Live Production and Technical Services
– Photography and Digital Imaging
– Screen and Media
– Interactive Media
– Professional Writing and Editing
‘You get to understand working in low light and adjusting camera settings in that environment (without using flash). Great opportunity for music production photography – behind the scenes. Working in a environment with tight, limited space, you can shoot more creatively on set using the right camera and lenses.’

‘This project allows students to interact in a professional environment simulating the pressure of a real-life documentary, involving briefing, the shoot and delivery in a timely manner. It gave me the opportunity to access a live gig and shoot all aspects of the production. The best part was I got to shoot at The Capitol!’

The Red Door project has run for over a decade now, and is part of a long history in Melbourne’s jazz scene. Students attend public venues to record the cream of artists engaged in the jazz improvisation community in Australia.
To date, no less than 10 artists have seen fit to release their recordings made by the RMIT sound production team.
‘Shooting for Collide and Red Door was a new and exciting experience. This was my first time shooting a live band and going behind the scenes of a large-scale production. Being given a brief and following through to bump in, sound check and final performance was a new experience. Having to be fast and sharp to capture the moment and working in a low light setting was a new challenge that I had to compensate for while shooting at The RMIT Capitol.’
