The Wedding Speech
M
y daughter, Cassandra, is the best daughter in the world.
Not only is she is the best daughter in the world, she is the best daughter in the history of the world. And today, of all days, she has the right to be the best. When I would tell people that my daughter was getting married, I would get asked, Are you going to walk her down the aisle to give her away? I would always balk at the second part of that question, the ‘giving her away’ part. And I would explain that, for one, Cass is not mine, nor anybody else’s, to give away - Cass belongs to herself.
Business Directory Special Get your business direct mailed into of 6,000 local mailboxes for
And for two, even if Cass was mine to give away, I wouldn’t - I couldn't just 'give away' somebody who is as amazing as she is. As we all know, having kids is a mind-altering experience and a life-changing process.

And what a wonderful universe that is.
It is a universe that continues to grow and expand as your child continues to grow and learn and live and laugh and love. It is especially wonderful when you see your child take on the life of an adult and continue to live and grow their life themselves. It is also especially wonderful when you see your child expand their own universe with the love of another, the love of a marriage partner. Cass has always been smart and strong, kind and brave, and independent and resourceful - she is all of that and also has an excellent sense of humour. And with Cass being that kind of young woman, it comes as no surprise that she would choose as a husband, as a life partner, a young man who is equally as smart and strong, kind and brave, and independent and resourceful as she is - and who also has an excellent sense of humour. Cass and Nate - they are two of a kind and they have found each other. They love each other and will continue to care for each other. They are building a life together and will live happy and productive lives together. And the universe continues to grow happier and happier - with lots of help from Cass and Nate.

Biggar Veterinary Clinic Sold to Corman Park Veterinary Services Dr. Marty Isinger soon to be retired
D
r. Marty Isinger isn't hanging up his calving suit and stethoscope just yet, but he is hoping to be able to rest them a bit. After 40+ years as a veterinarian he has decided to sell his practice and semi retire. Marty graduated from WCVM and in 1977 opened the clinic in Biggar. From 1985 to 2000 he also operated a satellite clinic in Rosetown. Throughout this time he has fully served the veterinary needs of the town and community. Dr. Marty is a rare vet of a dying breed. He had the mental and physical attributes to run a single man practice, treating both large and small animals 24/7 throughout a lengthy career. It will take a team to fill those shoes and Corman Park Vet Services (CPVS) is up to the task. The Biggar Veterinary Clinic was purchased by CPVS in July 2023. CPVS is a multi-veterinarian practice located just west of Saskatoon across the track from Saskatoon Livestock Sales. CPVS offers a full service small and large animal practice in its facility which will augment and enhance Biggar's services. CPVS 's mixed animal practice and veterinarians will be able to provide both routine and emergency service for Large and Small Animals in Biggar. Dr. Marty has entrusted CPVS to look after the veterinary needs of the community and surrounding area. CPVS will aim to carry on providing excellent service to all his clients. Dr. Marty has agreed to collaborate and mentor CPVS staff to ensure a bright future for his clients and CPVS. Biggar is a thriving town and CPVS is excited to join the community. Tara Tenney is a central employee of the Biggar Vet Clinic and will continue to run the day to day operations along with Lindsay Sagon (RVT), who has rejoined CPVS after a maternity leave. CPVS would like to invite everyone for a week of celebration from November 20 - 24. Come meet the new staff and wish Dr. Marty well on his next adventure, retirement! CPVS would like to thank everyone for their continued support and we look forward to servicing Biggar for years to come.
Dr. Harvey Domaslai(l) from CPVS congratulating Dr. Marty Isinger(r) on his coming retirement

In Flanders Fields By John McCrae In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.

Vanscoy & District Agricultural Society Celebrates 40th Anniversary in Delisle
T
he Vanscoy & District Agricultural Society (VDAS) is so honoured to have celebrated our 40th anniversary Fair at Fall Fest in Delisle. The Senior Center was a beautiful site, full of handcrafted items, canning, art, horticulture, needlework and school items. It was incredible to see the talent and support from the communities. Thank you to the Delisle & District Recreation Association for teaming up with us again, thank you to all of the VDAS volunteers for your time and energy you put into the fair as countless hours go into the behind the scene work, thank you to the judges, judge helpers, and prize money volunteers, and our bingo caller. Lastly, a huge thank you to all our sponsors. Without your continued support and donations none of this would be possible.
and hams this year! Did you know that, if you entered exhibits in the Fair, you are already a member of our organization? With that in mind, please save the date for our AGM on November 30th at 6:30 pm at the Vanscoy Senior Center. Planning for our 2024 year will be underway and your thoughts/opinions matter. Please consider joining us; we do require more board members and members at large. Our non-profit organization is committed to supporting our communities and we would love to have you as part of our team.
The Vanscoy & District Agricultural Society is pleased to host our Annual Turkey Bingo on Saturday, November 18th at the Delisle Town Hall. Doors open at 5:45pm and bingo starts at 6:30 pm. Please note the venue change as we have outgrown our Vanscoy location. We are partnering with Skate Delisle to host a fun filled day with their annual craft sale from 10-3 at the Hall and Curling Rink! Thank you to our bingo sponsors: Delisle Co-op, Nutrien, Plainsman HVAC, and G & L Auto, we greatly appreciate your generosity. Lastly, please give the Delisle Co-op a huge thanks for helping us source and store all our turkeys

T
he geese have gone south, the first snow has landed and the days are getting shorter. Along with winter comes another 'Delisle and Area Angel Tree' season. We kickstarted this season by hosting a Delisle Co-op BBQ with burgers, hotdogs and lots of baking. The bbq was a big success and we want to thank everyone that came out and supported us ! Again this year our goal is to provide small wrapped gifts as well as food hampers for all our nominees. These are gifts and hampers that can help out families that are struggling financially and/or otherwise. We want to create smiles across our community by spreading a little bit of Christmas magic and reminding everyone that we are here for each other ! Usually the food hampers include a turkey with stuffing and fixings, but this year we will have a wonderful new option for nominees! Bruja de la Luna is graciously donating and preparing turkey meals with all the fixings ready for takeout on December 25th. This will be an absolutely amazing option for families and individuals that aren’t up for cooking a whole turkey by themselves and we are super excited to add this option to our program and give nominees the choice between cooking their own meal or having it catered – And we are sending a HUGE Thank You to Bruja de la Luna for providing these meals ! Nominations open up on November 12th. If you have been struggling this year and feel like you need a helping hand please reach out to us at delisleangeltree@gmail.com or call Rosemary at 306220-3788. If your friends or neighbours are in need of our support please also reach out to us, and we will contact them to see if they would like to accept a nomination. You don’t have to live in Delisle, we also support families and individuals in the surrounding communities. November 27th there will be tags ready on the Angel Tree at HUB International (209 1st W, Delisle) with need and want items for our nominees and we will be looking for Community Angels that will grab these tags and purchase Christmas gifts for their community members. These gifts are not big ticket items, but small items that can help make the Christmas season a little lighter and a little warmer. Some tags are families grouped together and other tags just have one individual, and if you are able to be a Community Angel we encourage you to try it out – it is a wonderful feeling to be Santa for someone else in your community !
