FACULTY OF PERFORMING ARTS

W

elcome to the Programme of Events for the coming academic year. We have an exciting array of shows lined up and hopefully something to suit every palate. It has always been our aim to vary our programmes each year, offering opportunities for performers whether they be singers, drummers, dancers or even if they play the ukulele! This year sees eight concerts by RMS soloists and ensembles and two full-scale musicals: Sweet Charity, our bi-annual senior school show at Watersmeet Theatre in Rickmansworth and family favourite The Wizard of Oz which will showcase the skills of girls in years 7 to 9; both of these will also show off the talents of our growing team of technical back-stage workers. Girls throughout the School are continually developing their skills in stage management, lighting, sound and design, tutored by our team of Performing Arts staff and visiting professional technicians. Supported by our popular Performing Arts Sixth-Form course, this has been an area of massive growth over the past few years. I am delighted that two girls last year left RMS to take up further education on the most prestigious courses for technical theatre and lighting design. We are also continuing to include professional performers in our programme, and our first concert of the year includes new compositions by our composer-in-residence Chris Brammeld sung by baritone Thomas Isherwood. I do hope to see you there!

TICKETS Tickets for all of our shows, with the exception of The Elf Who Couldn’t Find Christmas and The Piper are available through the link on the school website:

Tickets for Sweet Charity can also be bought in person at the Watersmeet Box Office, or by calling 01923 711063. Tickets are usually available on the door for most of our performances, although this can never be guaranteed. To check ticket availablity, email dhyde@royalmasonic.hert.sch.uk
