SCHOOL NEWS New Outdoor Spaces The Grounds and Estates Department have been busy enhancing some of the School’s outdoor spaces, and a cold but sunny day yesterday saw pupils from Ruspini up to Hind House enjoying some of them! In Ruspini, the children have a new hard surface to play on; Cadogan House girls have their very own Pooh Sticks Bridge; and in Hind House, the students can now access the Rose Garden directly from the Common Room. Thank you for all the hard work getting these improvements done—roll on Spring!

SCHOOL NEWS Young Enterprise Report Black bottle & Co. is a Young Enterprise company which creates recycled, chalk boarded bottle that are very versatile. They are used as chalk boards or as vases, incense stick holders and table numbers to name just a few. We have participated in trading opportunities at the FORMS Christmas Fair, as well as competition rounds at Intu Watford, and at Marlowes shopping in Hemel Hempstead. All three of these trade fairs were very successful. Our first time trading within the Young Enterprise competition was at Marlowes shopping centre. Here, we learnt a lot and gained some real experience of how the trading works and how to communicate with customers in the right way to encourage them to take interest in our product. At this fair we won the award of Best Product/Service, which we were very proud to receive. We also received feedback on ways to improve our stall and given advice to have more of a plan for the potential future of our company, which we took on board. This really showed at the Intu Watford trade fair as we won Best Trade Stand along with the Environmental award on the first trading day. We then managed to improve on this on the second trading day as we won Best Overall Company. We are very proud of our achievements so far and hope to continue to progress in the competition. PERFORMING ARTS I am delighted to tell you about a range of music, dance and drama that the Faculty of Performing Arts will be presenting this half-term. Due to the dates given to us by the A Level, ABRSM and London College examination boards, we have had to make some changes to the dates published in our printed programme. To that end, the showcase scheduled for 26th February will now take place later this term with the date to be confirmed. Our Rush Hour concert on the 9th March will now feature a range of performances of girls preparing for their ABRSM examinations. Our Year 13 students will be performing pieces from their A Level recitals at the Spring Concert, on 27th March. All of these events are free to attend with no ticket required. “Royalty”, a dance show featuring work set to Rick Wakeman's "Six Wives of Henry VIII" followed by Ella Fitzgerald songs accompanied by Choro and Big Band, takes place on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th March. Tickets are available here: https://www.trybooking.co.uk/DWW I look forward to seeing you at our events this half-term. Daniel Hyde, Director of Performing Arts
