FORTHCOMING EVENTS Commander Chris Hadfield, celebrated astronaut, is coming to RMS Monday 16th November 2015 at 7.00pm (Doors open at 6.30pm), The Great Hall The School, in association with Chorleywood Bookshop, is delighted to welcome celebrated astronaut Chris Hadfield to talk about his book, “You are here—Around the World in 92 minutes” which has just been published in paperback Chris Hadfield is one of the most seasoned and accomplished astronauts, and the author of the number one international bestseller “An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth”. The top graduate of the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School in 1988 and U.S. Navy test pilot of the year in 1991, Hadfield was selected by the Canadian Space Agency to be an astronaut in 1992 . He was CAPCOM for 25 Shuttle launches and served as Director of NASA Operations in Star City, Russia, from 2001-2003, Chief of Robotics for the NASA Astronaut Office in Houston from 2003-2006, and Chief of International Space Station Operations from 2006-2008. Hadfield most recently served as Commander of the International Space Station where, while conducting a record-setting number of scientific experiments and overseeing an emergency spacewalk, he gained worldwide acclaim for his breathtaking photographs and educational videos about life in space. His music video, a zero-gravity version of David Bowie's “Space Oddity,” received over 10 million views in its first three days online. Featuring Commander Hadfield’s favourite images, “You are Here” is a planetary photo tour, punctuated with fun, fascinating commentary on life in zero gravity.

FORTHCOMING EVENTS Senior School Production 2015 Sweet Charity Watersmeet Theatre, 10th—13th November The Faculty of Performing Arts is delighted to invite you to our bi-annual Senior School musical 'Sweet Charity'. The show features the famous songs 'The Rhythm of Life' and the Shirley Bassey classic 'Hey Big Spender'. The performances are at Watersmeet in Rickmansworth. SCHOOL NEWS Year 9 design model rocket cars with Bloodhound On Thursday this week, Year 9 girls were treated to a hands on engineering session with the education team behind the Bloodhound Supersonic car. The Bloodhound Project is a high-technology project to design and build a car that will break the 1,000mph barrier and set a new world land speed record. We weren’t quite aiming for that when the girls set to work designing their own cars, but still managed some pretty spectacular results—we will give you more details next week, but in the meantime, here are some pictures of the Year 9 cars in action….

FORMS NEWS FORMS Fireworks Night – TONIGHT We are really looking forward to seeing you tonight and those who have not bought tickets yet do not worry you can purchase them on the door. £8 per adult and £5 per child. Meals are on a first come first serve basis after pre ordered meals have been served . PLEASE NOTE THAT ANY CHILD IN YEARS 9 INCLUSIVE AND BELOW MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT. ALSO FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY REASONS PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN FIREWORKS OR SPARKLERS. Also it may be a good idea to bring a torch and glow sticks will be available to buy. Doors open at 6.15 with the fireworks taking place around 7.30pm. This is an amazing family night with a great atmosphere – See you there!

FORMS CHRISTMAS FAIR The Christmas Fair has a few spaces for stall holders, so if you know anyone or would like one yourself please contact Anne Marie on forms.xmasfair@gmail.com. Huge events like this do not happen without HELP FROM PARENTS. Please get in touch with Teri at: forms.volunteers@gmail.com if you are able to help out DONATION DAYS 19th and 20th NOVEMBER We will be collecting any bottles and chocolate items for the tombollas. Shop bought mince pies and new or GOOD quality second hand soft toys RAFFLE PRIZES: We have some wonderful prizes this year so look out for the next weeks newsletter for the details and we will be also selling tickets this year before the event. We are looking please for volunteers on: 

Friday 27th November from 2.30-4.00pm to help move tables and start the set up for the fair.

Saturday 28th November during the fair to man for half hour stints on food stalls, the bar etc.

Also to help clear away tables and chairs after 4.00pm – so some helpful strong dads would be great!

FORMS NEWS FORMS events rely heavily on parent support. As well as generating interest with local companies for sponsorship opportunities we would like to ask parents for help with smaller items. We have the Christmas Fair coming up and we are looking for raffle prize donations. So if you can help or you know anyone who can offer anything from a turkey to a TV then please get in touch, we would be extremely grateful.
