Senior School Musical—Sweet Charity The Faculty of Performing Arts is delighted to invite you to our bi-annual Senior School musical 'Sweet Charity'. SCHOOL NEWS RMS Celebrates Biology Week Biology Week is an annual celebration of the biosciences, and there have been numerous events going on in the UK and beyond. The week showcases the important and amazing world of the biosciences, getting everyone from children to professionals involved in fun and interesting life science activities Events at RMS have included a competition for years 7 and 8 during which they had to
come up with their own biology question regarding plants, animals or humans; plan a scientific investigation and carry it out reaching a conclusion. Science ambassadors were assigned to each from and girls could borrow laboratory equipment from their teachers. The best projects included:
videoing the sleep of a sibling and watching her eye movements,
growing cress seeds in different environmental conditions then serving the results to a brave father,
recording the path of food colouring in celery and different flowers
and using a thermographic camera to observe human body temperatures before and after exercise

As a School, we also ran a poll to vote for your favourite insect, a session on specimen drawing, a Snail Race (congratulations to Francesca’s snail which travelled 15cm in 4 minutes and 40 seconds) and even a “Bio-bodies” Bake Off..!

Congratulations to our Year 7/8 relay swimming team, who took part in the qualifying round of the English Schools’ Swimming Association Secondary Schools Team Championships at Woodside. The team, consisting of (pictured from left to right) Niamh (Year 7), Mirabelle, Ellie, Stephanie and Madeleine (all Year8 ). The girls won both the freestyle and medley relay. They are the junior team and there were sixty nine other schools in a range of junior, intermediate and senior teams in both boys and girls.

FORMS NEWS FORMS Fireworks Night – Friday November 6th Tickets for the very popular FORMS annual Fireworks Night are selling out fast! PLEASE NOTE THAT ANY CHILD IN YEARS 9 AND BELOW MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT. ALSO FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY REASONS PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR OWN FIREWORKS OR SPARKLERS. Also it may be a good idea to bring a torch and glow sticks will be available to buy. Doors open at 6.15pm with the fireworks taking place around 7.30pm. This is an amazing family night with a great atmosphere. Advanced tickets are just £5 for an adult and £3 for a child, plus £3 for a meal, should you wish to include it. Tickets on the night will be £8 per adult and £5 per child and food will be subject to availability – therefore we highly recommend you book in advance by emailing forms.fireworks@gmail.com or visiting www.facebook.com/FORMSRMS. Remember, if you are interested in sponsorship opportunities at the Fireworks night, or any of our other events, please email forms.communications@gmail.com FORMS events rely heavily on parent support. As well as generating interest with local companies for sponsorship opportunities we would like to ask parents for help with smaller items. We have the Christmas Fair coming up and we are looking for raffle prize donations. So if you can help or you know anyone who can offer anything from a turkey to a TV then please get in touch, we would be extremely grateful.
