We are publishing the new list of clubs on CHQ at 10.00 am on Monday 26th March and there will be lots of new clubs as well "old" ones, so please make sure you log on and check what we have on offer in the summer term. As before, students will be asked to put in their own preferences using numbers and the deadline for this is 4 pm on Wednesday 28 March. If a club is oversubscribed, places will be allocated randomly and students will receive an email on Thursday 29th March to inform them about their success in gaining a place. Parents/guardians can reach CHQ via the Parent Portal (only) which gives you full visibility of the co-curricular provision, but you will be unable to book a club for your daughter/ward. Senior school pupils have been asked to log on via https://mychq.net/royalmasonic using their network login. Any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. Mrs Sears Extra-Curricular Co-ordinator zsears@royalmasonic.herts.sch.uk
End of Term Coaches
Please note that school coaches will leave at the 3.00pm on the last day of term, Thursday 29th March.

SCHOOL NEWS Mindful Self-compassion Course I'm following up on an earlier notice about my offer to provide a Mindful Self-compassion (MSC) course for parents (and possibly some staff depending on numbers) in Trinity Term. All being well we will now be going ahead at 7.00pm on Monday evenings from 30th April to 21st May (this includes a Bank Holiday so we will need to negotiate this) and after Half Term 4th June to 25th June. There will also be a Retreat day on a date to be negotiated. If you didn't see the first notice, or if you've been thinking about this but haven't been sure, now is the time to sign up please so I can decide if we have enough people to go ahead. You can find more information here John Quill School Chaplain jquill@royalmasonic.herts.sch.uk
Year 8 and 9 Author Visit—Monday 26th March On Monday . Tanya Landman, Carnegie Medal-winning author of ‘Buffalo Soldier’, has agreed to visit the School to talk to Year 8 and Year 9 students about her books. Tanya is an internationally renowned author and we are delighted to have secured a visit from her. She will be talking to the students to provide inspiration for their own writing and enthusing them about the joy of reading. This will support the literacy work that we do in school and we hope it will prove a stimulating experience for the students. There will be an opportunity for the students to buy a book by Tanya Landman and get it dedicated to them and signed by Tanya, if they would like. A signed book can be a permanent reminder of a special experience and can reinforce the message about the importance of reading. The following title will be available for purchase: Buffalo Soldier £7.99 (Winner of the CILIP Carnegie Medal 2015), Apache £7.99 and Beyond the Wall £7.99 If your daughter/ward would like to purchase a book, please complete and sign this form and return it to Mrs Fryer, via your daughter/ward or email to Mrs Fyer, Resource Centre Manager efryer@royalmasonic.herts.sch.uk . This will authorise us to add the chosen title to your daughter/ward’s account and for it to be paid for via the termly bill. Regrettably, we will not be able to accept cash or cheque payments on the day, so completion of this form is essential in order to secure copies of the books. Of course, if your daughter/ward already owns any of her books they can bring those in and she will be happy to sign them. We are sure you will agree that this is an opportunity not to be missed and the girls can look forward to a very exciting day.

SPORTS RESULTS ESAA National Cross Country Championships Congratulations to three of our Year 10 girls who were selected to run for Hertfordshire at the National Cross Country championships last weekend in Leeds. They have all moved up into the Under 17 age group so were running against girls a year older in a very competitive race. Jane finished second for the Hertfordshire team, with Ella third. Unfortunately Grace had to pull up with knee injuries after competing so strongly this year. Well done girls.
Herts Schools Games County Finals The RMS Y7 Indoor Athletics team took part in the County finals this week against 11 other regional winning schools. It was a very competitive competition with some outstanding athletes and performances from all schools. The Year 7's started well on the track winning some of the races and finishing no lower than third in others. We knew we had a good chance of doing well going into the field events but had an anxious wait till the results were announced to find out how well. Eventually it was announced that RMS were the overall winners and were declared County Champions receiving their medals and trophy to much excitement. Congratulations to all the team on a fantastic achievement.
Gymnastics On Friday and Saturday the U11, U13, U16 and U19 gymnastics teams took part in the Milano Nationals in Stoke on Trent. The girls performed individual floor routines, voluntary vaults and a trio routine. All the girls performed very well with the U19 team coming 6th in the country. Whilst the U11 and U19 teams came 3rd as part of the Eastern region, the U16 team came 1st as part of the Eastern region. Well done to all the girls.

SPORTS RESULTS Hockey Seniors V St Clement Danes: The last senior was a fantastic 9-0 win against SCD with some outstanding goals to end the season. Well done girls on a great season.
Trampolining On Tuesday the trampoline squad went to Haberdashers school to compete in a competition where they had to compete two routines each and the result were as follows... Beatrice V came second with a score of 16.65 in the Novice category In the intermediate category Charlotte C placed 3rd with a score of 17.55 Overall all girls competing did really well and a fun afternoon was had.
Football Year 7/8 Team vs Watford RMS lost 2-3 RMS were leading at half time with a 2 goal advantage. The team were working well to defend the goal and ensure the ball stayed up near the other goal. However in the second half, we lost the advantage of our lead and ended up losing 2-3. We need to work on our defence and making sure everyone on the team helps to clear the ball away from the goal area. Year 7/9 vs St Joan of Arc RMS lost 1-9 This was a tough match in the cold as we were missing some players but we had some additions to the team who were fantastic. We have improved our control of the ball and were able to pass the ball into space and create more chances on goal. Overall, the team has made a lot of progress from the beginning of the season. Well done, especially to POTM Valentina
