Welcome to Ruspini House. Childhood, especially the early years, is such a special time, a time when children are changing so quickly and when they gain the skills to help them learn. As pre-school teachers, we are incredibly lucky to share these years of discovery and development. At Ruspini we aim for our children to develop as independent, confident, successful learners with high aspirations, ready to make a positive contribution to their community. We provide an educational environment that supports their creativity, curiosity and concentration, preparing them for a successful start in Reception. Of course, a prospectus cannot show you everything – if you would like to come and meet us, see what makes Ruspini House such a special place, and meet the children, who truly are our best ambassadors, we would be delighted to arrange this for you. I look forward to meeting you and your child, and sharing with you what Ruspini House can offer.

Introduction Ruspini House Pre-School, housed in totally refurbished, modern and bespoke facilities, is home to the youngest members of the RMS family, girls and boys aged 2 to 4. It is a small, friendly, caring community within the grounds of the school, and offers a stimulating, happy and supportive environment into which pupils settle quickly. Through a carefully planned, individualised curriculum, all children are encouraged to reach their full potential. Recognised as ‘Outstanding’ in its most recent inspections, Ruspini House lays firm foundations for a love of learning; boys and girls develop independence, curiosity and enthusiasm; they learn good manners, courtesy and consideration for others within a busy and supportive environment where each child is known and valued as an individual with unlimited potential. Most Ruspini girls choose to continue their education at RMS, benefiting from a seamless transition to Cadogan House, without the need for a formal assessment. At Ruspini House we ensure that children experience both exemplary care and exciting learning; they are challenged, and have fun at the same time. They enjoy access to a range of specialist teachers and facilities (Forest School, swimming pool, our school library and Planetarium to name a few!) of which most nursery children can only dream.
Pupils benefit from superb facilities and a rich and varied educational experience.

Our Curriculum At Ruspini House we inspire and motivate our children to actively participate in the curriculum. We follow the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), focusing on the needs and talents of each child. Whilst setting high expectations, we encourage them to develop at their own pace, carefully planning individualised challenges. We provide an extensive range of play activities to support their learning and development. Learning is enhanced by Ruspini’s unique access to specialist teachers and the fabulous RMS facilities from mud kitchens and modern languages to music and sport. Play underpins life at Ruspini House. We believe that children learn best when they are happy, motivated and interested. Play develops their social and cognitive skills, emotional maturity and selfconfidence, helping them to experiment and solve problems. Studies show that the deep concentration children experience when fully immersed in play can be a predictor of later academic success. Some skills, such as phonics, need to be taught as they cannot be learned through play. We carefully plan all adult-directed activities to fit each child’s next steps, whilst incorporating their particular interests, to ensure maximum engagement as well as depth and breadth of learning.

What Our Parents Say Thank you so much for taking wonderful care of Raef. He has thoroughly enjoyed his time with you – what a wonderful introduction to education for him!
Ruspini House is a brilliant setting for pre-schoolers. Not only is it a nurturing environment but the children are also ready for Reception.
We feel so lucky that we have been able to send our daughter to such a wonderful pre‑school.
Thank you for making Natalie’s early years such an enjoyable experience. We will always be grateful for the support and loving care that she has been given.
Miss L has been a brilliant Key Worker and I feel she has contributed greatly to Liam being a happy, sociable little boy who enjoys learning.
We could not have hoped for a better start to our daughter’s education. Children are treated as individuals, and the staff are warm, caring and work hard to foster a fun, nurturing environment for the children.

Our People Highly qualified staff focus on each child’s unique needs and abilities to promote development at an individual pace. Upon arrival at Ruspini House your child will be assigned a ‘key person’, who has special responsibilities for working with them, giving them the reassurance to feel safe and cared for.
Our Service Ruspini House provides a flexible service to meet the needs of all families. We offer a morning or afternoon session, a pre-school day (from 8.45am – 4.00pm) a full day (8.00am – 6.00pm), early and late clubs during term time (38 weeks) and holiday camps. Parents can mix and match to suit their needs, although we recommend minimum sessions as children move through Ruspini House, thus preparing them for full weeks in Reception. Our on-site chef provides freshly homecooked meals and snacks, meeting all dietary needs.
Transition to Reception Most Ruspini House girls move onto Cadogan House at the age of four. Our excellent relationships with a range of local schools allow boys to transfer smoothly to their Reception class of choice. Girls are well prepared for this transition by regular interaction with Cadogan House Reception during their final year in Ruspini House.
