FOR STRIKE ACTION

and action short of strike action in the LU re-ballot

1

The fight to defend jobs, pensions and working conditions continues. RMT strike action has held management back for a time but the threat remains to every grade and function. It is essential that we return another massive vote for strike action and action short of strike action. Make sure your union has the power to fight for you.

London Underground is imposing £730m in cuts after TfL agreed to go back to operating the tube with no operational subsidy. No similar transport system in the world manages this but LU plans to smash up our jobs, pensions and conditions to try and achieve the impossible.

3

Management has set up a pension review and published documents arguing for a doubling of our pension contributions, while slashing the pension benefits we receive.

4

The Mayor agreed a finance deal with the government that was based on a commitment to seek £100m savings from the employer’s pension costs. This is equivalent to a 30% cut in pension benefits.

5

The 600 job cuts on stations are being imposed with no consultation on rosters and no safety validation. Now the company is opening discussions on “organisational change” – management speak for cuts – on trains and across engineering functions.

7

Don’t leave it to others! Ensure RMT has the power of a renewed ballot mandate for strike action and for action short of strikes. The anti-union laws mean that we need to achieve a 50% turnout and 40% of all eligible voters must vote YES for a legal strike. If you do not return your ballot paper you are effectively counted as voting against our fight to stop job cuts, pension attacks and flexible working.

6

Management is imposing flexible working arrangements on our Special Requirements Team (SRT) members. This type of flexible working is central to management’s review of train operations and will also be applied across all functions, unless we stop them.
