National rail cleaners’ dispute
Why we’re on strike
Cleaners across the rail network in Britain are on strike today to win a pay deal that can help us with the cost-of-living crisis. We are all outsourced – employed by separate outsourcing companies that win contracts by holding our pay down and denying us sick pay and decent pensions. Most of us earn less than £10 an hour. As prices rise, we’re really struggling to make ends meet for our families. Meanwhile the companies that employ us have DOUBLED their profits since the pandemic, making more money out of us as cleaning is recognised as essential.
