Quick Hits • The Robert Morris University men’s basketball team continues a three-game road trip Thursday with a 9:00 p.m. tip against Wagner at the Spiro Sports Center on Staten Island, N.Y., in a game that will be televised live on CBS Sports Network. • The Colonials opened their three-game road swing @ Saint Francis U. (1/5/15) with a 66-59 setback. Freshman guard Marcquise Reed led all scorers in the game with 22 points, finishing 8-for-9 shooting from the field and 6-for-6 at the free-throw line. Junior forward Stephan Bennett tied a season high with 10 points off the bench. • Freshman guard Marcquise Reed was selected as the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week (1/6/15), sharing the honor with Fairleigh Dickinson’s Darian Anderson. Reed averaged 18.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 steals in three games last week while shooting 72.4 percent (21-for-29) from the field, including 50 percent (4-for-8) from beyond the arc, and 81.8 percent (9-for-11) at the free-throw line. It marked the third time this season Reed was bestowed NEC Rookie of the Week accolades. • Senior forward Lucky Jones, RMU’s active career leader in both points (1,349) and rebounds (735) posted a season-high 12 caroms @ Saint Francis U. (1/5/15) and is just 17 boards shy of becoming the program’s all-time leading rebounder. The program record of 751 is held by former forward Anthony Dickens (1985-90) and was tied by former guard Tony Lee (2004-08). • Senior forward Lucky Jones also owns career totals of 158 assists and 149 steals and with his next steal will become just the third player in Northeast Conference history to eclipse career totals of 1,300 points, 700 rebounds, 150 assists and 150 steals. • RMU opened its 2014-15 Northeast Conference slate with a 70-45 victory over Mount St. Mary’s (1/3/15), the third straight victory for the Colonials at the Charles L. Sewall Center. Senior forward Lucky Jones paced Robert Morris with 17 points and eight rebounds and was one of four players to score in double figures in the win. • Robert Morris has held 11 opponents to 45 points or less over the last eight years after posting a 70-45 victory over Mount St. Mary’s (1/3/15) in its 2014-15 Northeast Conference opener. The Colonials enter Thursday’s game @ Wagner yielding an average of 58.3 points per game over their last three contests. • Since the beginning of the 2005-06 season, RMU owns an overall record of 200-115 (.635), including a mark of 119-43 (.735) in the Northeast Conference. • The Colonials close out their three-game road trip after taking on the Seahawks Thursday in New Britain, Conn., Saturday, Jan. 10, with a 3:30 p.m. tip against Central Connecticut State at Detrick Gymnasium. Robert Morris will then return home to the Charles L. Sewall Center to host St. Francis Brooklyn Friday, Jan. 16, in a game that will be televised live on ESPNU. Tip time is 9:00 p.m.
