Top Story - The Robert Morris University men’s basketball team opens a four-game homestand Thursday when it welcomes Sacred Heart to the Charles L. Sewall Center for a 7:00 p.m. tip. The Colonials are coming off a 77-69 win @ Mount St. Mary’s (1/18/14), their fourth straight victory, as freshman forward Jeremiah Worthem led the way with a career-high 21 points by converting seven of his 11 shots from the field while going 6-for-6 at the free-throw line. Worthem’s threepointer with 8:58 to play ignited a 16-5 run that helped the Colonials grab an eight-point lead, 65-57, with Worthem scoring seven straight points. RMU sealed the win by converting 12 of its 14 attempts at the free-throw line in the final 3:50 of action. Worthem averaged 16.5 points and L, 76-84 3.5 rebounds in two games last week to earn his second NEC Choice Hotels NEC Rookie of the L, 77-80 W, 67-63 Week honor. Junior forward Lucky Jones added 16 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth career double-double against the Mount, while senior guard Karvel Anderson finished with 12 points. Quick Stat of the Night - Two Colonials that have upped their game and have helped Robert Morris sport a four-game winning streak entering Thursday’s game against Sacred Heart are sophomore forwards Aaron Tate and Stephan Hawkins. In a 77-69 win @ Mount St. Mary’s (1/18/14), Tate scored five points and grabbed a career-high seven rebounds, while Hawkins tied a season high with eight points. So far in Northeast Conference play, the duo has combined to average 7.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while shooting 41.2 percent (14-for-34) from the field. Tate has especially played well, ranking second for the Colonials in rebounding during league play with an average of 4.8 rebounds per contest and having recorded six steals, which ranks second behind junior forward Lucky Jones (8). Tate has also shot 53.3 percent (8-for-15) from the floor in RMU’s first four NEC games.
