The Colonials are coming off an 81-68 setback to St. Francis (N.Y.) (1/28/12), which snapped RMU’s four-game winning streak. Redshirt junior guard Velton Jones led Robert Morris with 21 points against the Terriers, the fourth straight game and fifth time in his last six contests he’s eclipsed the 20-point plateau. Jones leads the Colonials and ranks fifth in the Northeast Conference in scoring at 17.4 points per game. Redshirt sophomore guard Coron Williams added 15 points against the Terriers. Robert Morris continues its road trip after taking on Wagner Thursday with a 4:00 p.m. tip against Mount St. Mary’s Saturday, Feb. 4, at Knott Arena in Emmitsburg, Md. Quick Stat of the Night - As the calendar switches to February and the race for seeding in the 2012 Northeast Conference Tournament heats up, the Colonials will look to continue a trend from last month. Robert Morris shot 42.1 percent (214-for-508) from the field in posting a record of 6-3 (.667) during January as redshirt junior guard Velton Jones led RMU throughout the month with averages of 19.7 points, 4.7 assists and 2.6 assists per game. One area the Colonials will look to tighten up is on the defensive end. Robert Morris entered January ranked second in the NEC in field goal percent defense (.410) but allowed opponents to convert 44.4 percent (202-for-455) of its shots from the field, including 39.1 percent (68-for-174) from long range. The Colonials enter Thursday’s game ranked third in field goal percent defense at 42.4 percent.
