Quick Hits • The Robert Morris University men’s basketball team concludes a two-game homestand at the Charles L. Sewall Center Saturday, Feb. 14, with a Noon tip against Central Connecticut State in a game that can be seen live on Fox College Sports. • The Colonials fell for the third time in the last four contests in the opener of the homestand with a 63-62 setback to LIU Brooklyn (2/12/15). RMU held a 15-point lead in the first half, 31-16, and owned a 47-35 lead with 16:23 to play before succumbing to the Blackbirds. • Freshman guard Marcquise Reed paced RMU against LIU Brooklyn with 14 points and added three assists, while senior forward Lucky Jones contributed 12 points and six rebounds. Also reaching double figures for Robert Morris was junior forward Aaron Tate, who tied a career high with 10 points. • Freshman guard Marcquise Reed has been named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week a league-high six times after garnering the honor Feb. 9, 2015. Reed averaged 18.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals in a pair of road games last week and established a new program record for most NEC Rookie of the Week accolades. Former guard Jeremy Chappell (2005-09) was bestowed the freshman honor five times during his rookie campaign in 2005-06. • Robert Morris leads the Northeast Conference against league opponents in both field goal percentage (.480) and three-point field goal percentage (.401) while ranking second in the circuit in free-throw percentage (.735). • Through 13 games against Northeast Conference opponents, sophomore guard Kavon Stewart has registered a league-high 28 steals, an average of 2.15 thefts per game that leads the circuit. Overall this season Stewart is tied for fourth in the NEC with an average of 1.58 steals per game. • Senior forward Lucky Jones became RMU’s all-time leading rebounder by grabbing nine boards against St. Francis Brooklyn (1/16/15). Jones is RMU’s active leader in points (1,505) and rebounds (809) entering Saturday’s contest against Central Connecticut State and also owns career totals of 178 assists and 159 steals. • Freshman guard Marcquise Reed has eclipsed the 20-point plateau eight times this season, tying an RMU freshman record. Former guard and the program’s all-time leading scorer, Myron Walker (1990-94), also scored at least 20 points in a game on eight occasions during his rookie campaign in 1990-91. • Robert Morris opens a two-game road trip through New England after taking on the Blue Devils Saturday, beginning with a 7:00 p.m. tip against Sacred Heart Thursday, Feb. 19, in Fairfield, Conn., at the Pitt Center. The Colonials will also visit Bryant Saturday, Feb. 21, for a 4:00 p.m. tip.
