Top Story - The Robert Morris University men’s basketball team opens a three-game homestand Saturday when it welcomes Mount St. Mary’s for a 4:00 p.m. tip at the Charles L. Sewall Center. The Colonials are coming off a 66-60 victory @ Saint Francis U. (2/13/14), which capped a perfect 3-0 road trip for RMU. Senior guard Karvel Anderson led Robert Morris in its win over the Red Flash with 28 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the field, including 2-for-4 from deep, and a perfect 4-for-4 performance at the free-throw line. He also added four rebounds, two assists and a career-high four steals. Junior forward Lucky Jones also reached double figures for the Colonials against SFU, scoring 12 points while grabbing a game-high nine rebounds. At halftime of SaturL, 76-84 day’s game against the Mount, Robert Morris will honor the 1981-82 Colonials, the first team in L, 77-80 W, 67-63 program history to qualify for the NCAA Tournament, by enshrining the squad into the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame. RMU will continue its three-game homestand after taking on the Mount Saturday W, 72-61 L, 94-100 by hosting LIU Brooklyn Thursday, Feb. 20, in a 7:00 p.m. tip. In their three victories, the Colonials L, 56-64 W, 79-70 yielded just 55.3 points per game while holding opponents to a shooting percentage of 37.7 perW, 71-67 cent (63-for-167), including 26.2 percent (16-for-61) from beyond the arc. Each of RMU’s top three performances this season in regard to scoring defense occurred in the last three games, as the W, 73-68 W, 77-69 Colonials allowed just 50 points @ St. Francis Brooklyn (2/8/14), 56 @ LIU Brooklyn (2/6/14) and 60 @ Saint Francis U. (2/13/14). In addition, RMU’s top two marks this season in field goal W, 91-65 percentage defense happened during the road trip, including a season low 32.3 percent (20-forW, 74-70 62) @ LIU Brooklyn (2/6/14).
