Top Story - The Robert Morris University men’s basketball team concludes the 2011-12 regular season Saturday morning with an 11:00 a.m. tip against Quinnipiac at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn., in a game that will be televised live on ESPNU. The Colonials extended their winning streak to a season-high six games in dramatic fashion in their last contest, as redshirt junior guard Velton Jones buried a three-pointer from the wing with under a second to play to help lift RMU to a 55-53 win @ Sacred Heart (2/23.12). Jones led Robert Morris with 16 points, four assists and a career-high five steals in the victory, while freshman forward Lucky Jones and sophomore guard Anthony Myers each scored nine points off the bench. RMU opens the 2012 Northeast Conference Tournament after taking on the Bobcats Saturday by hosting a quarterfinal game at the Charles L. Sewall Center Thursday, March 1. Quick Stat of the Night - Any coach will tell you that it’s important for their team to be playing their best basketball of the season during the stretch run. For Robert Morris, that’s exactly how the team has performed under the last two years under second-year head coach Andrew Toole.
