Quick Hits • The Robert Morris University men’s basketball team concludes its 2018-19 regular season schedule Saturday with a 4:00 p.m. tip against Wagner at the Spiro Sports Center on Staten Island, N.Y. • RMU currently sits in third place in the Northeast Conference standings with a 10-7 (.588) league mark. The Colonials are tied with Sacred Heart. Robert Morris is assured of at least one home game in the 2019 Northeast Conference Tournament and can finish no higher than third in the league standings. • RMU opened a two-game road trip to close out the 2018-19 regular season with an 87-63 loss @ Sacred Heart (2/28/19). The Colonials fell behind, 9-0, and never recovered. The Pioneers grabbed their first double-digit lead, 12-2, at the 16:46 mar as Sean Hoehn scored a game-high 31 points for SHU, the most points scored by a student-athlete against Robert Morris in 2018-19. • Sophomore forward Charles Bain paced Robert Morris against Sacred Heart with 17 points and four rebounds. He shot 6-for-10 from the field, including 3-for-6 from beyond the arc, while knocking down both of his attempts at the free-throw line. • Sophomore guard Jon Williams scored 12 points and dished out a pair of assists against the Pioneers, while junior forward Yannis Mendy finished with 10 points, going 4-for-4 from the field and 2-for-3 at the free-throw line. • Senior guard Matty McConnell leads the Northeast Conference in steals with an average of 1.80 per contest thanks to 54 thefts in 30 games. RMU’s active leading scorer (1,072 points) and rebounder (497), McConnell needs three caroms to become the 14th player in program history to eclipse career totals of 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. • Senior guard Josh Williams leads the NEC in three-point field goals made per game (2.97) and ranks third in the RMU single-season record book for triples (89), trailing only Scott Shepherd, who finished with 93 three-pointers in 1988-89, and Karvel Anderson, who dropped 119 triples in 2013-14. • Head coach Andrew Toole owns the highest winning percentage (.617) in games decided by five points or less (minimum 50 games) during the KenPom era (2002 to present). In nine seasons under Toole, the Colonials have posted a record of 58-36 in games decided by five points or less, including 3-4 in 2018-19. • The Colonials closed out the home portion of their regular-season schedule at the North Athletic Complex with a 67-62 win over St. Francis Brooklyn (2/23/19). RMU fell behind, 33-22, in the first half before climbing back to earn the win.
