Quick Hits • The Robert Morris University men’s basketball team begins its quest for a league-high eighth Northeast Conference Tournament championship Wednesday by hosting No. 7 seed Wagner in a 7:00 p.m. tip as part of quarterfinal action at the Charles L. Sewall Center. • In a vote of league head coaches Tuesday, freshman guard Marcquise Reed was named the 2015 Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year. Reed is the fourth student-athlete from RMU to be named NEC Rookie of the Year. Reed also earned a spot on the 2015 All-NEC Rookie Team and joined senior forward Lucky Jones and junior guard Rodney Pryor on the 2015 All-NEC Second Team. • RMU is making its 12th consecutive appearance in the Northeast Conference Tournament, the longest streak by a member institution. All-time in the postseason tourney the Colonials own a record of 36-23 (.610). • Robert Morris concluded its 2014-15 regular season with a 71-70 overtime victory over Saint Francis U. (2/28/15) at the Sewall Center as junior guard Rodney Pryor led the Colonials with 22 points while adding six rebounds. • Also scoring in double figures against the Red Flash for Robert Morris was senior forward Lucky Jones, who finished with 20 points. Freshman forward Elijah Minnie scored six points and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds and junior forward Aaron Tate contributed nine points and five boards. • RMU’s win over Saint Francis U. (2/28/15) secured the program’s 10th straight winning season, extending a school record. Since the beginning of the 2005-06 campaign, the Colonials own a record of 211-120 (.637), including a mark of 130-48 (.730) in the NEC. • Junior guard Rodney Pryor earned his third Northeast Conference Player of the Week honor March 2, 2015, after averaging 23.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in RMU’s final two games of the 2014-15 regular season. Pryor is the first member of the Colonials to be named the NEC Player of the Week three times in one season since former guard Chipper Harris (1980-84) in 1983-84. • Senior forward Lucky Jones enters the 2015 Northeast Conference Tournament having scored in double figures in each of the 12 games he’s played at the Charles L. Sewall Center this season as well as 17 consecutive home games dating back to last year. This year at home, Jones is averaging 15.7 points and 6.8 rebounds at “The Chuck.” • Freshman guard Marcquise Reed, a six-time Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week, has established RMU freshman records for field goals (167) and 20-point scoring games (9) this season. Reed has scored 448 points for Robert Morris this season, which ranks second all-time among program rookies, trailing only the 477 points former guard Karon Abraham (2009-11) scored in 2009-10.
