Dayton (0-0) vs. Robert Morris (0-0) Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011 at Noon Joe Walton Stadium (3,000) - Moon Township, Pa. Radio: WPIT-AM 730 (Chris Shovlin - play-by-play & Brian Cleary - color) Video & Audio on the internet (live and archived) at: www.rmucolonials.com Top Story - The Robert Morris University football team opens its 2011 campaign and 18th season of intercollegiate football Saturday, Sept. 3, when it welcomes the University of Dayton to Joe Walton Stadium for a Noon kickoff. Dating back to the program’s first season in 1994, the Colonials own a record of 9-8 (.529) in season openers. However, when opening its season at home, Robert Morris owns a record 6-1 (.857), with its only setback a 23-12 loss to Dayton (9/1/07) to open the 2007 campaign. Under the direction of Joe Walton, the only head coach in the history of the program, RMU returns nine starters from last season, each of which will be in the starting lineup Saturday against the Flyers. On the flipside, a total of 11 Colonials will be making their first career start, including seven on defense. Robert Morris takes to the road for three straight games after hosting Dayton Saturday, beginning with a 7 p.m. tilt against Liberty in Lynchburg, Va., Sept. 10. The Colonials will also visit Morgan State (9/17) and Monmouth (10/1) before returning to Joe Walton Stadium, Oct. 8, to host in-state rival Saint Francis. Quick Stat of the Afternoon - One Colonial to keep an eye on this season is senior tight end Shadrae King. A reliable and capable receiver throughout his Robert Morris career, King led RMU last season in receptions (43), receiving yards (531) and touchdown catches (7) in helping the Colonials finish with an overall record of 8-3 (.727) and claim their first NEC regular-season championship since 2000 with a record of 7-1 (.875). Named to the 2011 FCS Preseason AllAmerica Second Team by both The Sports Network and Phil Steele, King enters his final season of eligibility just 19 receptions shy of establishing a new career school record in the category. Former wide receiver Tyjuan Massey owns the record of 112, which was set from 2002 to 2005. King is also six touchdown catches shy of breaking Massey’s all-time record of 21 entering the 2011 season. On his career, King owns 94 receptions for 1,174 yards and 16 touchdowns. Saturday’s Opponent - The longest running rivalry with a non-conference opponent in program history, Robert Morris and Dayton will meet for the 14th time Saturday. The Flyers own an 11-2 (.846) advantage and carry an eight-game winning in the all-time series into the contest. In last year’s game at Welcome Stadium (9/4/10), the Flyers posted a 28-14 victory over the Colonials as Dayton quarterback Steve Valentino passed for two touchdowns in the second quarter to give the Flyers a 21-0 lead at halftime en route to the win. For more information on the all-time series against Dayton, including last year’s game recap, please see page four of today’s game notes. On This Date (Sept. 3) in Robert Morris Football History - While Robert Morris will kickoff its 18th season of intercollegiate football Saturday afternoon against Dayton, on this date in football history exactly 17 years ago the Colonials played their first football game. Just 23 days after the beginning of its first training camp, Robert Morris stopped Waynesburg eight times inside its own 10-yard line in the last five minutes to preserve a 24-19 victory. The game-winning touchdown came courtesy of inaugural running back Tim Hall (1994-95), who scampered 62 yards to paydirt at the 7:22 mark of the third quarter to give the Colonials the final margin of victory. Hall finished the afternoon with 86 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries, while quarterback Jake Newman (1994-97) completed 13 of his 21 passing attempts for 216 yards and three touchdowns, including a nine-yard strike to split end Robert Frazier (1994-96) at the 14:53 mark of the second quarter that marked RMU’s first touchdown in program history.

2011 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Dayton (9/3/11) - Page 3

Head Coach Joe Walton 18th Season - Pittsburgh ’57 At the forefront of the football renaissance at Robert Morris University throughout its 17-year history is Joe Walton, who has built the Colonials from a fledgling program into one of the top Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) teams in the region. The one constant associated with the program, Walton was named the first head coach July 27, 1993. He started the program from scratch, completing everything from hiring assistant coaches to purchasing equipment to recruiting student-athletes for the team’s inaugural season in 1994. Walton’s fingerprints are all over the football program, and to prove that, RMU has played its home games since 2005 in a stadium that bears his name. During his tenure, Walton has led Robert Morris to the first Northeast Conference championship in 1996, guided RMU to a perfect 10-0 season in 2000 and in 2010 helped lead the Colonials to the NEC’s inaugural bid to the NCAA FCS Playoffs with their league-high sixth regular-season championship. “It’s hard to believe,” Walton speaks on how fast time has elapsed. “I’ve said this many times before, and I mean it when I say that this situation is one of the best things that has ever happened to me in my life. It happened at the right time. Before this position became available, I felt I was too young to quit coaching, but I wasn’t anxious to get back into pro football. When this came along, it was the perfect fit. This situation was the perfect opportunity for me to continue to do what I like to do, and I’ve loved every minute of it.” Under Walton’s tutelage, the Colonials have claimed outright NEC regular-season titles three times (1997, 1999, 2000) while sharing three others (1996, 1998, 2010). Walton led Robert Morris to back-to-back ECAC Bowl victories in 1996 and 1997, and in 1999 and 2000 he guided RMU to a pair of NCAA I-AA mid-major national crowns according to Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette. In 2010, Walton added to his legacy by engineering the Colonials on an eightgame winning streak for a share of the NEC regular-season title and the NEC’s first bid in the NCAA FCS Playoffs. In the process he picked up his 100th career victory in the collegiate ranks.

Last RMU Game vs. Dayton Game #1 Dayton 28, Robert Morris 14 September 4, 2010 / Dayton, Ohio Welcome Stadium (Attendance: 3,377) - Steve Valentino tossed a pair of touchdown passes in the second quarter to help give Dayton a 21-0 halftime lead and the Flyers held on for a 28-14 win over Robert Morris in the 2010 season opener for both programs. Down by three scores late in the third quarter, the Colonials mounted a comeback with 14 consecutive points within the span of a minute and 53 seconds. Struggling to move the ball most of the game, RMU got on the board and trimmed Dayton’s advantage to 21-7 with just 1:06 left in the third quarter by engineering a seven-play, 92-yard scoring drive. Quarterback Jeff Sinclair capped the drive with a 33-yard scoring strike to wide receiver Anthony Coleman. It was a balanced offensive possession for Robert Morris, as running back Myles Russ ran twice for 28 yards, while Sinclair completed a 14-yard pass to split end T.J. Green before hooking up with Coleman for the score. On Dayton’s third play of its next possession, Valentino was intercepted by cornerback Rolf Bathold, who returned the pick 37 yards to the six-yard line of the Flyers with just two seconds remaining in the third quarter. The Colonials would capitalize on the interception, as Sinclair helped cut RMU’s deficit to just a touchdown, 21-14, by scoring from a yard out on 4th-and-goal from the one-yard line of the Flyers with 14:13 to play. Momentum in RMU’s favor, on the third play of Dayton’s next possession safety Michael Landers stepped in front of wide receiver Nick Collins and intercepted Valentino again. Landers raced down the sideline toward the end zone, but on the tackle Valentino stripped Landers to force a fumble. Tyler Hujik pounced on the loose ball, helping give possession back to Dayton at its own 19-yard line. Valentino atoned for his pair of interceptions, marching the Flyers 81 yards on 10 plays, their fourth such scoring drive of at least 65 yards on the afternoon, before Brian Mack scored on a three-yard touchdown run with 7:45 to play to give Dayton a 28-14 advantage. The Flyers had taken an early 7-0 lead when Andrew Zapinski scored from two yards out with 10:13 to play in the first quarter. Valentino’s 48-yard run down to the Robert Morris two-yard line helped set up the first score of the afternoon. Score By Quarters Robert Morris Dayton

Fresh Faces - The 2010 version of the Colonials featured one of the best senior classes in school history, and while the loss of those seniors has created openings in the starting lineup in 2011, the time is now for some at Robert Morris. A total of 11 Colonials will make their first career start Saturday against Dayton, including eight on defense. Included in that group is freshman Duane Mitchell, who earns the start at halfback. Mitchell is just the second true freshman in school history to receive the starting assignment at halfback in the 17-year history of the program. Former Colonial Brian Harden started in the backfield in a 21-14 setback @ Dayton (9/2) to open the 2006 campaign. Mitchell’s backup at the position, Justin Brooks, is also a true freshman. Experience Counts - Freshmen Duane Mitchell and Justin Brooks will each have a veteran offensive line to work with in 2011, which could help aid in the development of the duo. Despite sophomore Jon Hill earning his first career start at right tackle Saturday against Dayton, the other four members of the offensive line have combined for 59 career starting assignments. The leader of the group is senior right guard Brad Rodgers, who owns 22 career starts on the line, including 20 straight. Seniors Brian Bevilacqua (LG) and Logan Miles (C) own 16 and 15 career starts, respectively, while sophomore A.J. Dalton (LT) has been in the starting lineup six times. Dr. Dre - Senior tight end Shadrae King enters his final season of eligibility in 2011 looking to keep a streak intact. King closed out the 2010 season in the first round of the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Playoffs @ North Dakota State by leading the receiving corps with five catches for 68 yards. The performance marked the 19th straight game dating back to the 2009 campaign that King has recorded at least one reception, a new school record by a tight end. Former Colonial Brent Hockenberry (2000-01) finished with at least one catch in 17 straight games over the course of the 2000 and 2001 seasons. One of seven players in school history to record at least one catch in 15 straight games, King will look to break the overall school record in 2011, which is held by former wide receiver Opio Gary (1998-2000). Gary closed out his Robert Morris career by posting at least one reception in each of his final 22 games. In The Groove - Sophomore quarterback Jeff Sinclair developed into one of the best quarterbacks in the Northeast Conference in just his second year of Division I football, and the proof is in the numbers. During RMU’s eight-game wining streak that clinched a share of the 2010 NEC regular-season title, Sinclair completed 53.9 percent (90-for167) of his passes for 1,469 yards, 19 touchdowns and just five interceptions. Sinclair finished the 2010 campaign as the Northeast Conference leader in touchdown passes (22) while ranking fifth in the league in passing yards per game (174.5). In addition, his pass efficiency of 133.03 ranked second in the NEC. Many Happy Returns - Senior Anthony Coleman has been a rock for Robert Morris on special teams over the last three years, as the wide receiver enters the 2011 campaign owning Robert Morris career records for kickoff returns (69) and kickoff return yards (1,470). Thanks to his consistency on special teams, Coleman enters his final season of eligibility in 2011 with 2,265 career all-purpose yards, which ranks 10th all-time at Robert Morris, and an opportunity to become just the sixth player in school history to eclipse 3,000 career all-purpose yards. Those Issues Are Secondary - A key area that Robert Morris was hurt by graduation from 2010 is the secondary. The four starters during RMU’s championship run in 2010 were all seniors and concluded their careers with combined totals of 575 tackles and 27 interceptions. Each of RMU’s four starters Saturday against Dayton will be making their first career collegiate start and features a senior (Alex Tarr), a junior (Ben Ridgeley), a junior college transfer (Antwan Smith) and a sophomore (D.J. Myers). The quartet enters Saturday’s game with combined career totals of 23 tackles and three interceptions. Start Me Up - Seniors Anthony Coleman and Brad Rodgers each enter the 2011 campaign as RMU’s active leader in career starting assignments with 22. Coleman has started 22 straight at wide receiver, the longest active streak for consecutive starts, while Rodgers owns 20 straight starts on the offensive line and 22 overall.

2011 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Dayton (9/3/11) - Page 6 Making The Grade - Defensive lineman Nolan Nearhoof became the third player in program history to be named to the Capital One Academic AllAmerica Team in 2010 when he earned second team accolades. Nearhoof owns a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.87 as a biology major and joined former Colonials Jonathan LeDonne (2001-04) and Ray Gensler (200306) to earn the honor. LeDonne, a linebacker, was named to the 2004 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America First Team, while Gensler, a defensive lineman, was a two-time honoree, earning second team accolades in 2005 and first team honors in 2006. On the 2010 campaign Nearhoof finished with 49 tackles, which tied for fifth on the team, and paced the Colonials with five and-a-half sacks. Jazzy Jeff - Junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair enters the 2011 campaign with a career record of 13-5 (.722) as RMU’s starting quarterback since being inserted as the starter at the position midway through the 2009 campaign. Thanks to leading the Colonials to a 38-0 win over Albany (10/16/10) last season, Sinclair now owns the best start by a Robert Morris quarterback in school history. He surpassed inaugural signal caller Jake Newman (1994-97), who posted a record of 10-3-1 (.750) in his first 14 starts over the course of the 1994 and 1995 seasons. Sinclair has helped the Colonials average over 300 yards of total offense per game (332.7) since taking over the reigns as the starter at quarterback for Robert Morris. Finding His Man - Junior Jeff Sinclair was a consistent presence at quarterback in his second season in 2010, tying the RMU single-season school record for touchdown passes. Thanks to a pair of touchdown passes in RMU’s regular-season finale @ Bryant (11/13), Sinclair tied the RMU single-season school record of 22 that was originally established by former quarterback Tim Levcik (1998-2001) in 2001. Sinclair tossed two or more touchdown passes in seven of RMU’s 11 games in 2010, and all-time Robert Morris owns a record of 8-2 (.800) when he tosses two or more touchdown passes in a game. King of Queens - Senior tight end Shadrae King has already moved into the top five all-time at Robert Morris for career receptions after leading the Colonials in 2010 with 43 receptions for 531 yards and seven touchdowns. King led the Colonials with five receptions for 68 yards @ No. 25 North Dakota State (11/27/10) in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Playoffs, pushing his career total in receptions to 94. That total is tied for third all-time at Robert Morris with former wide receiver Sherrod Evers (2006-09). Entering his final season of eligibility in 2011, King needs 19 interceptions to eclipse the school record of 112 held by former wide receiver Tyjuan Massey (2002-05).

Last RMU Game Game #11 • #25 North Dakota State 43, Robert Morris 17 November 27, 2010 • Fargo, N.D. Fargodome (Attendance: 12,202) - No. 25 North Dakota State scored 23 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to break open a tight game as the Bison advanced to the second round of the 2010 NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) playoffs with a 43-17 win over Robert Morris. The Colonials had pulled to within 20-17 with 12:05 to play thanks to a 46-yard field goal from sophomore kicker Greg Langer, but the Bison responded on their next drive to take a 27-17 advantage when Brock Jensen scored on a five-yard touchdown run. The big play of the drive came when Jensen hit D.J. McNorton on a screen, and McNorton scampered 61 yards to the five-yard line of Robert Morris. Freshman Evan Taylor fumbled the ensuing kickoff but was able to recovering before being taken down at the RMU one-yard line, and on the first play of the possession sophomore quarterback Jeff Sinclair was tackled in the end zone by Matthew Gratzek for a safety, giving NDSU a 29-17 lead. North Dakota State got the ball back after a free kick and took control of the contest when McNorton produced a 12-yard touchdown run to cap a four-play, 55-yard drive that increased the lead for the Bison to 36-17. In the first half, RMU took the opening kickoff and marched 69 yards on 10 plays to take an early 7-0 lead when senior running back Myles Russ scored on a five-yard touchdown run. Sinclair was the catalyst during the drive, rushing three times for 39 yards while connecting with junior tight end Shadrae King twice, including an 18-yard strike that moved the ball to the five-yard line of NDSU. RMU’s defense made the opening touchdown stand in the first 30 minutes, as the only points the Bison put on the board came courtesy of Ryan Jastram, who connected on field goals of 34 and 51 yards. Robert Morris had an opportunity to increase its lead further early in the second quarter, reaching the NDSU one-yard line before facing a fourth-and-goal situation. RMU decided to go for it but was turned away when senior Raphael Johnson tried to spin away from a tackle and fumbled, turning the ball back over to North Dakota State. Trailing, 7-6, entering the second half, the Bison took their first lead of the contest on the opening drive after intermission when Jensen hit Warren Holloway for a 32-yard touchdown pass. NDSU eventually increased its advantage to 20-7 when McNorton hauled in a screen pass from Jensen and scrambled 49 yards to the end zone for a touchdown with 2:04 to go in the third quarter.

Home Sweet Home - Slowly but surely, Robert Morris has learned to protect its home turf at Joe Walton Stadium. Thanks to a 42-24 win over Central Connecticut State (11/6/10) that clinched a share of the 2010 Northeast Conference championship, RMU has now posted eight straight victories at “The Joe” dating back to the 2009 campaign. It marks the longest winning Score By Quarters streak at home for the Colonials since opening the stadium in 2005. Overall, Robert Morris Robert Morris owns a record of 17-14 (.548) in six seasons at Joe Walton Bryant Stadium. Turkey Turnover - A key to the success Robert Morris had in 2010 was the team’s ability to create turnovers. In 11 games the Colonials posted a turnover margin of +9, an average of 0.82 per game that topped the Northeast Conference while ranking 12th in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). In 2010 Robert Morris posted 18 interceptions and recovered eight fumbles while suffering just 10 picks and seven fumbles. Over their last 16 games dating back to the 2009 campaign, a stretch in which RMU is 13-3 (.813), the Colonials own a turnover margin of +18, an average of 1.13 per game.

2011 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Dayton (9/3/11) - Page 7 The Comeback Kids - As long as quarterback Jeff Sinclair and tight end Shadrae King are on the Robert Morris roster, anything is possible. Last season, Robert Morris trailed three times @ Sacred Heart (9/11/10) in its 2010 Northeast Conference opener before pulling out a victory when Sinclair connected with King for an eight-yard touchdown pass with 17 seconds to play. Included in RMU’s comeback against the Pioneers were a pair of double-digit deficits. The Colonials trailed, 14-0, in the second quarter before rallying to tie the game at halftime, 14-14. In the third quarter the Pioneers pushed their advantage back to double digits, 24-14, but a pair of touchdowns early in the fourth quarter gave Robert Morris its first lead of the 2010 season, 28-24. RMU’s win over Sacred Heart marks the fifth time in the 17-year history of the program the Colonials have climbed out of a two-touchdown deficit for a victory, the largest in school history. Surprisingly, four of those five instances have come on the road. A look at each of the five games: Deficit 0-14 0-14 17-31 0-14 0-14

Cool, Calm, Collected - If anything, quarterback Jeff Sinclair has proven that he has ice in his veins when Robert Morris is looking for big plays late in games. In addition to engineering a game-winning scoring drive in a 35-31 victory @ Sacred Heart (9/11/10) last season, the signal caller did it again a week later in the fourth quarter of a 30-23 upset win over No. 14/15 Liberty (9/18/10) at Joe Walton Stadium. Sinclair marched the Colonials 80 yards on six plays, which was capped by a 12-yard touchdown run by former running back Myles Russ (2007-10) with just 22 seconds to play. Sinclair finished 4-for-4 passing for 68 yards in the game-winning drive and is just the second RMU quarterback in school history to engineer back-to-back game-winning drives in the fourth quarter. He joins all-time leading passer Tim Levcik (1998-01). Levcik turned the trick in victories @ Wagner (10/28/00) and @ Sacred Heart (11/4/00) during RMU’s undefeated season in 2000. King Me - Tight end Shadrae King has developed into quarterback Jeff Sinclair’s favorite target, and that was certainly the case in RMU’s 35-31 victory @ Sacred Heart (9/11/10). King finished with eight catches for career high totals in both receiving yards (133) and touchdowns catches (3) against the Pioneers, including the game-winning touchdown with just 17 seconds to play. King is the fifth player in school history, and first tight end, to catch three touchdown passes in a game and the first since alltime leading receiver Tyjuan Massey (2002-05) established a single-game school record with four touchdown catches against Stony Brook (10/29/05). Saturday Night Lights - In addition to playing its first game on artificial turf since 2006 and its first game ever in a dome in the preliminary round of the 2010 NCAA Division I FCS playoffs @ North Dakota State (11/27/10), Robert Morris played for just the fifth time in the 17-year history of the program in which the kickoff was after 5:00 p.m. The opening kickoff at the Fargodome was 7:00 p.m. The Colonials own a record of 1-4 (.200) all-time in night games, with all five of those contests coming on the road. Robert Morris has a pair of night games on its 2011 schedule and will also host its first night game in school history when it takes on Saint Francis at Joe Walton Stadium in a 7:00 p.m. kickoff Saturday, Oct. 8. Preseason Honors - A total of five Colonials earned spots on the 2011 All-Northeast Conference Preseason Team. Junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair, senior center Logan Miles and senior tight end Shadrae King were placed on offense, junior defensive lineman Nolan Nearhoof earned a spot on defense and senior Anthony Coleman was picked as the return specialist on special teams. In addition, King was named to the 2011 Preseason Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) All-America Second Team by both The Sports Network and Phil Steele and the 2011 Preseason FCS Honorable Mention Team by Consensus Draft Services. Sack Happy - One area the Colonials showed a penchant for during their Northeast Conference championship run in 2010 was putting pressure on the opposing quarterback. In its seven victories in league play, Robert Morris recorded 20 sacks, an average of 2.50 per game. Overall on the 2010 campaign RMU posted 21 sacks, which ranked third in the NEC. It was a balanced attack, as 10 different Colonials posted at least half a sack in 2010. Leading RMU was defensive lineman Nolan Nearhoof, who finished with five and-a-half sacks and enters his junior season in 2011 as RMU’s active career leader with eight and-a-half sacks. Overall, the Colonials return 11.5 of their 21 sacks from a year ago. Mitchell On The Move - Did any student-athlete have a better year in 2010-11 than Steve Mitchell? In the fall of 2010, Mitchell started all 11 games on the defensive line, recording 37 tackles in helping Robert Morris claim its sixth NEC regular-season championship and the league’s inaugural bid to the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Playoffs. In the spring of 2011 he ignited the RMU outdoor track & field squad to a second-place finish at the 2011 NEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships with 133 points, the squad’s highest finish since winning the 2000 NEC Outdoor Track & Field title with 146.5 points. Mitchell was named the 2011 Most Outstanding Field Performer after claiming gold in the hammer throw and silver in the shot put. He posted a toss of 50.83 meters in the hammer and a throw of 16.29 meters in the shot, establishing a new RMU outdoor school record. To top it off, Mitchell owns a 3.55 cumulative grade point average as a management major. The Streak Continued - The football program helped Robert Morris extend one of its most impressive streaks in school history in the fall of 2010. The Colonials returned to the top of the Northeast Conference after a 10-year hiatus with a record of 7-1 (.875) in league play and shared the 2010 regular-season championship with Central Connecticut State. However, by virtue of a 42-24 victory over the Blue Devils at Joe Walton Stadium (11/6/10), RMU clinched the NEC’s inaugural bid to the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Playoffs. It marked the 12th straight season that Robert Morris has sent at least one of its programs to an NCAA Tournament, dating back to the 1999-2000 campaign. 2011 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Dayton (9/3/11) - Page 9 Run, Forrest, Run - Robert Morris was absolutely spectacular in 2010 in stopping the run, as the Colonials led the Northeast Conference in rushing defense, allowing an average of just 113.82 yards per game. That total was good enough to rank 18th in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). RMU was especially stingy against league foes, as in eight games the Colonials allowed just 684 yards rushing, an average of 85.5 yards per contest that topped the NEC. The school record for fewest rushing yards allowed per game was set by the 2006 Robert Morris defense, which allowed an average of just 99.8 yards per contest. Rank and File - Robert Morris certainly posted a defining victory when it garnered a 30-23 upset win over No. 14/15 Liberty (9/18) at Joe Walton Stadium, but should it really come as a surprise? The victory improved the Colonials to a perfect 2-0 when squaring off with a ranked opponent. RMU defeated fellow Northeast Conference foe Central Connecticut State, 23-17, in a pair of overtimes at Joe Walton Stadium Oct. 14, 2006, for its first win over a ranked opponent. The Blue Devils entered that game ranked No. 19 by The Sports Network, while the Flames occupied the No. 15 spot in TSN’s poll before falling to the Colonials. RMU’s loss @ North Dakota State (11/27) in the first round of the 2010 NCAA FCS Playoffs dropped RMU to 2-1 (.667) all-time when facing off with a ranked opponent, as the Bison entered the game ranked 25th by The Sports Network. To see the latest FCS national rankings by The Sports Network, please see page 7 of today’s game notes. Get To The Chopper - A quick glance at RMU’s record when broken down proves how important it is the Colonials get off to a good start in contests. When Robert Morris is leading at halftime, the program owns an all-time record of 84-10 (.894). When trailing at the break, Robert Morris owns a mark of 10-53-1 (.164). Even going into halftime tied is beneficial, as the Colonials own an overall record of 10-7 (.588) in such games. The Magic Mark - Since the Colonials began play in 1994 there have been 69 games in which Robert Morris has scored 30 or more points. In those contests RMU boasts a record of 65-4 (.942), including a record of 38-4 (.905) in games in which the team scores between 30 and 39 points. In games in which the Colonials score 40 or more points, RMU is a perfect 27-0. RMU Football Historical Tidbits - The inaugural running back at Robert Morris, the late Tim Hall (1994-95), rushed for 2,908 yards in his two seasons as a Colonial. Hall still owns the FCS season and career records for yards per carry, with his season record of 8.7 yards per carry set in 1994 and his twoyear career record of 7.4 established in 1994 and 1995 ... Hall also ranks fourth all-time in the FCS in all-purpose yards per game (194.8) ... Former Colonial linebacker James Noel (2002-05) ranks fifth in the FCS record book for career tackles per game (10.7), while his career tackle total of 437 takedowns ranks 12th all-time ... Former linebacker Alex DiMichele (2007-10) averaged 10.3 tackles per game over his three years in a Robert Morris uniform, which is tied for eighth all-time in the FCS record book with former Saint Francis linebacker Matthew Parker, who played from 2007 to 2010. A Colonial in the NFL Hank Fraley, who played on the offensive line for Robert Morris from 19961999, has carved a niche for himself in the National Football League (NFL). Signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers to a free agent contract in April 2000, Fraley was claimed off waivers the following August by the Philadelphia Eagles. After an ankle injury to Bubba Miller in the final 2001 preseason game, Fraley stepped up and started at center for Philadelphia the entire season, helping the team to the 2002 NFC Championship game. For four straight seasons with Fraley starting at center from 2002-05, the Eagles appeared in the NFC Championship game. In 2005, Fraley became the first RMU football alum to appear in the Super Bowl when he started at center against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX. Prior to the start of the 2006 campaign, Fraley was traded by Philadelphia to Cleveland, where he started all 16 games for the Browns on the year. Fraley played four seasons with the Browns from 2006 to 2009, earning 52 starts in 63 games, before signing as a free agent with the St. Louis Rams March 14, 2010. Entering the 2011 season, which will be his 12th year in the NFL, Fraley has started 123 of his career 142 games and has also earned 10 starts in the postseason. Primarily a center, Fraley has also started at both guard and tackle throughout his NFL career. Fraley became the second Colonial to have his number retired, joining inaugural running back Tim Hall (1994-95), as Fraley’s No. 75 was enshrined prior to RMU’s game against Sacred Heart on Sept. 22, 2001. Fraley became the sixth football inductee into the Robert Morris Athletic Hall of Fame when he was enshrined Oct. 14, 2006.
