The Colonials are coming off a 34-27 setback to Bryant (10/22), their second straight loss. The defeat snapped an eight-game winning streak at home against Northeast Conference opponents, as RMU’s last loss at Joe Walton Stadium against a league foe came Sept. 26, 2009, a 20-13 loss to the Bulldogs. Bryant used its special teams to pull out its 34-27 win over Robert Morris, blocking a Tony LaMancusa punt and recovering it at the RMU 25-yard line with under two minutes to play. Three plays later Jordan Brown scored on a 10-yard touchdown run to bolser the Bulldogs to the win. Junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair tied a career high in completions (20) and established a career high in attempts (42), compiling 227 yards and three touchdowns. Senior wide receiver Anthony Coleman was one of three Colonials to finish with a touchdown reception against the Bulldogs and compiled a career-high 175 all-purpose yards on the afternoon. Robert Morris returns to the road after hosting the Pioneers, visiting New Britain, Conn., for a Noon kickoff against Central Connecticut State at Arute Field in a game that will be televised live on PCNC. Quick Stat of the Afternoon - While senior tight end Shadrae King has been RMU’s top receiver over the last three years, the Colonials received a balanced attack from its receiving corps agianst Bryant (10/22). King led Robert Morris with six catches, compiling 48 yards and a touchdown. Senior wide receiver Jamie Cobb added five receptions for a team-high 70 yards and a score, while senior wide receiver Anthony Coleman chipped in with four catches for 57 yards and a touchdown. Cobb had the best game of his senior season, as he entered the game with just three receptions for 19 yards on the year, while Coleman’s performance was part of a game in which he compiled a career-high 175 all-purpose yards. King, meanwhile, tied the Robert Morris school record for career touchdown catches, as his score against the Bulldogs was the 21st of his career. Former wide receiver Tyjuan Massey posted 21 touchdown catches during his career from 2002 to 2005. Saturday’s Opponent - Sacred Heart and Robert Morris will square off for the 14th time Saturday, with the Colonials holding a 7-6 (.538) edge in the all-time series. The Colonials have won four of the last five contests against the Pioneers after a come-from-behind victory, 35-31, in last year’s meeting in Fairfield, Conn. Senior tight end Shadrae King has caught at least one pass in 26 straight games dating back to the 2009 campaign, a school record ... King also owns 128 career receptions, a Robert Morris school record ... Junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair owns career totals of 3,924 passing yards and 42 touchdowns ... Junior defensive lineman Nolan Nearhoof is RMU’s active leader in tackles (113), tackles for loss (19) and sacks (13) ... Nearhoof is tied for seventh all-time at Robert Morris in career sacks ... A total of 19 Colonials have earned their first career start so far in 2011.
