Robert Morris (2-6, 2-3 NEC) @ Central Conn. State (2-7, 1-5 NEC) Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011 at Noon Arute Field (3,000) - New Britain, Conn. TV: PCNC (Paul Dottino - play-by-play & Steve Levy - color) Radio: WPIT-AM 730 (Chris Shovlin - play-by-play & Jim Duzyk - color) Audio on the internet (live and archived) at: www.rmucolonials.com Top Story - The Robert Morris University football team looks to snap a three-game losing streak Saturday when it visits New Britain, Conn., for a Noon kickoff against Central Connecticut State at Arute Field in a game that will be televised live on PCNC. The Colonials are coming off a 27-15 setback to Sacred Heart (10/29) that closed out a two-game homestand. Robert Morris jumped out to a 10-3 lead against the Pioneers on the strength of a 22-yard touchdown run by junior quarteback Jeff Sinclair and a 36-yard field goal from junior Greg Langer, but Sacred Heart outscored the Colonials, 24-5, the rest of the way. Sinclair finished 13-for-26 passing for 148 yards but was intercepted twice and sacked five times. Senior tight end Shadrae King led the RMU receiving corps with five receptions for 73 yards, while redshirt freshman Deontae Howard rushed 16 times for 55 yards. The Colonials return home to Joe Walton Stadium after taking on the Blue Devils Saturday afternoon, welcoming Wagner in a Noon kickoff Saturday, Nov. 12, for their final home game of the 2011 season. RMU will close out the year with a Noon kickoff Saturday, Nov. 19, at Duquesne. Quick Stat of the Afternoon - Quietly putting together one of the best seasons by a defensive lineman in school history is junior Nolan Nearhoof. RMU’s active leader in career tackles with 124, Nearhoof paced the Colonials with 11 tackles against Sacred Heart (10/29), including a trio of sacks. Nearhoof became the seventh different student-athlete in school history to record three sacks in a game, and he enters Saturday’s game @ Central Connecticut State leading the Northeast Conference in the category with seven and-a-half. Thanks to his trio of sacks against the Pioneers, Nearhoof pushed his career total to 16, which is tied with former defensive lineman Brad Kirit (1997-2000) for fourth all-time at Robert Morris. Nearhoof is also just three sacks shy of tying the career school record of 19 that is held by former defensive lineman Ray Gensler (2003-06). Nearhoof enters Saturday’s game against the Blue Devils ranked third for RMU in tackles so far this season with 47. Saturday’s Opponent - Central Connecticut State is one of just three opponents Robert Morris has faced in each of the first 17 years the Colonials have fielded an intercollegiate program, joining fellow Northeast Conference foes Saint Francis and Wagner. The Colonials own a 13-4 (.765) advantage in the all-time series. For more information on the all-time series against Central Connecticut State, including last year’s game recap, please see page four of today’s game notes. Robert Morris 2011 Quick Outs - RMU was picked third in the 2011 Northeast Conference preseason coaches poll, trailing only preseason favorite Central Connecticut State and Duquesne ... 2011 Robert Morris Football Game Notes @ Central Connecticut State (11/5/11) - Page 3

Head Coach Joe Walton 18th Season - Pittsburgh ’57 At the forefront of the football renaissance at Robert Morris University throughout its 18-year history is Joe Walton, who has built the Colonials from a fledgling program into one of the top Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) teams in the region. The one constant associated with the program, Walton was named the first head coach July 27, 1993. He started the program from scratch, completing everything from hiring assistant coaches to purchasing equipment to recruiting student-athletes for the team’s inaugural season in 1994. Walton’s fingerprints are all over the football program, and to prove that, RMU has played its home games since 2005 in a stadium that bears his name. During his tenure, Walton has led Robert Morris to the first Northeast Conference championship in 1996, guided RMU to a perfect 10-0 season in 2000 and in 2010 helped lead the Colonials to the NEC’s inaugural bid to the NCAA FCS Playoffs with their league-high sixth regular-season championship. “It’s hard to believe,” Walton speaks on how fast time has elapsed. “I’ve said this many times before, and I mean it when I say that this situation is one of the best things that has ever happened to me in my life. It happened at the right time. Before this position became available, I felt I was too young to quit coaching, but I wasn’t anxious to get back into pro football. When this came along, it was the perfect fit. This situation was the perfect opportunity for me to continue to do what I like to do, and I’ve loved every minute of it.” Under Walton’s tutelage, the Colonials have claimed outright NEC regular-season titles three times (1997, 1999, 2000) while sharing three others (1996, 1998, 2010). Walton led Robert Morris to back-to-back ECAC Bowl victories in 1996 and 1997, and in 1999 and 2000 he guided RMU to a pair of NCAA I-AA mid-major national crowns according to Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette. In 2010, Walton added to his legacy by engineering the Colonials on an eightgame winning streak for a share of the NEC regular-season title and the NEC’s first bid in the NCAA FCS Playoffs. In the process he picked up his 100th career victory in the collegiate ranks.

Hacky Sack - While junior defensive lineman Nolan Nearhoof leads the Northeast Conference so far this season in sacks with seven and-a-half, he hasn’t been the only Colonial to put pressure on the quarterback. In fact, Robert Morris enters Saturday’s game @ Central Connecticut State ranked second in the league in sacks with 19, trailing only Sacred Heart, which owns 20. Amazingly, a total of 10 Colonials have recorded at least half a sack for RMU so far this season. In addition to the seven-and-a-half from Nearhoof, junior defensive lineman Steve Mitchell owns two and-a-half sacks, while senior defensive lineman Sam Miller and sophomore defensive lineman Chris Thompkins each own a pair. Hanging Chad - Junior safety Cameron Chadwick has settled into his role as a leader on defense, and its showed the last three games. Over that span Chadwick owns 35 stops, an average of 11.7 per contest. Included in that stretch is a team-high 12 tackles against Bryant (10/22) as well as a career-high 16 tackles @ Albany (10/15). Thanks to his performance against the Great Danes, Chadwick became the 17th different Colonial in school history to accumulate at least 15 tackles in a game. Chadwick enters Saturday’s game @ Central Connecticut State leading Robert Morris in tackles with 60, an average of 7.5 per contest that is tied for ninth in the Northeast Conference. Stay On Target - Senior Shadrae King has been a reliable target throughout his four years on the Robert Morris roster, and the proof is in the numbers. Of King’s 133 career receptions, 79 have provided the Colonials with either a first down or a touchdown (59.4%). King hauled in a 12-yard touchdown catch against Bryant (10/22), the 21st touchdown reception of his career and tying the school record also held by former wide receiver Tyjuan Massey (2002-05). King is also tied for ninth all-time at Robert Morris with 126 points with former wide receiver Fred Parker (1995-98). How About That - So far this season, Robert Morris has converted 25 of its 54 opportunities on third down in the first half, a success rate of 42.3 percent. The second half? RMU is just 13-for-54 (24.1%) on third down. First Time for Everything - Junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair made history in RMU’s 4514 victory over Saint Francis (10/8), becoming the first quarterback in school history to eclipse the 100-yard rushing plateau. Sinclair finished with 110 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns on just five carries, an average of 22.0 yards per rush. Sinclair posted touchdown runs of 64 and 22 yards in the second quarter to help the Colonials build a 35-0 halftime lead en route to the victory. Overall, Sinclair is the 12th different player in school history to post a 100-yard rushing game. Picking Up Steam - Greg Langer has settled in nicely as RMU’s starting placekicker, as the junior has hit five straight field goal attempts and nine of his last 11 in the last six games. Langer ranks third in the NEC with his nine field goals and leads the Colonials in points so far this season with 43.

2011 Robert Morris Football Game Notes @ Central Connecticut State (11/5/11) - Page 6 A New No. 1 - Senior tight end Shadrae King tied a career high with nine receptions in a 23-20 victory @ Monmouth (10/1), compiling 104 yards receiving and a pair of touchdowns. In addition to recording his third career 100yard receiving game, King became the program’s all-time leading receiver. He enters Saturday’s game @ Central Connecticut State with 133 career catches, a total that eclipsed the record of 112 that was held by former wide receiver Tyjuan Massey (2002-05). King also owns 1,589 career receiving yards, which ranks second all-time at Robert Morris, and 21 touchdown catches, tied for the career school record. King enters Saturday’s game @ Central Connecticut State ranked third in the Northeast Conference in receptions per game (4.88) and sixth in receiving yards (51.9) per contest. Dr. Dre - Senior tight end Shadrae King led the Colonials in receptions agianst Sacred Heart (10/29), posting five catches for 73 yards. It marked the 27th straight game dating back to the 2009 campaign that King has recorded at least one reception, extending a school record. King eclipsed the old mark of former wide receiver Opio Gary (1998-2000), who closed out his Robert Morris career by posting at least one reception in each of his final 22 games. Two Pair - Quarterback Jeff Sinclair tossed three touchdown passes in a 45-14 victory over Saint Francis (10/8), including a pair to senior tight end Shadrae King. Thanks to the three scores through the air from Sinclair against the Red Flash, Robert Morris improved to 10-3 (.769) when he tosses two or more touchdown passes in a game. Many Happy Returns - Senior Anthony Coleman has been a rock for Robert Morris on special teams throughout his career, as the wide receiver enters Saturday’s game @ Central Connecticut State owning Robert Morris career records for kickoff returns (99) and kickoff return yards (2,142). Thanks to a career-high 175 all-purpose yards against Bryant (10/22), Coleman became the sixth player in school history to eclipse 3,000 career all-purpose yards. He enters Saturday’s game with 3,243 and is just 34 yards shy of eclipsing the top five all-time at RMU. Based on his career average of 105.7 all-purpose yards per game, Coleman is on pace to finish his career with 3,587 career yards. Start Me Up - Seniors Anthony Coleman and Brad Rodgers each enter Saturday’s game @ Central Connecticut State as RMU’s active leader in career starting assignments with 30. Coleman has started 30 straight at wide receiver, the longest active streak for consecutive starts, while Rodgers owns 27 straight starts on the offensive line and 30 overall. Dynamic Duo - Senior tight end Shadrae King hauled in a 12-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair in the second quarter against Bryant (10/22), helping him tie the school record for career touchdown receptions of 21 that is also held by former wide receiver Tyjuan Massey (2002-05). Over the last three seasons, Sinclair has connected with King for 15 touchdowns, the second highest total between a quarterback-receiver combo in school history. The only total higher comes from former quarterback Drew Geyer (2002-05) and Massey, who hooked up for 17 touchdowns over their four years together on the roster.

Last RMU Game Game #8 • Sacred Heart 27, Robert Morris 15 October 29, 2011 • Moon Township, Pa. Joe Walton Stadium (Attendance: 1,514) - Sacred Heart quarterback Tim Little ran for one touchdown and tossed a pair of scores in sending Robert Morris to its third straight loss as the Pioneers posted a 27-15 win over the Colonials. Junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair gave Robert Morris an early 7-0 lead with a 22-yard touchdown run that capped a five-play, 61-yard drive on the opening possession of the game. Chris Rogers would help Sacred Heart trim its deficit to 7-3 with a 32yard field goal at the 7:22 mark of the first quarter, but junior Greg Langer answered with his own trifecta, a 36-yard connection, to give the Colonials a 10-3 lead. Little tied the game, 10-10, with a 15-yard touchdown run with 4:41 left before halftime, but RMU surged ahead, 13-10, on its next possession with a 45-yard field goal from Langer with just 2:01 remaining before the break. Sacred Heart took control of the game after Langer's second field goal of the game, marching 58 yards on just seven plays before Little connected with Greg Moore for a 24-yard touchdown pass that propelled the Pioneers to a 17-13 advantage at intermission. RMU’s offense stalled in the second half, compiling 96 yards of total offense, including just 35 in the third quarter. Rock Tate would haul in a seven-yard touchdown pass from Little at the 3:11 mark of the third quarter that capped a six-play, 64-yard drive and gave Sacred Heart a 24-13 lead. 2011 Robert Morris Football Game Notes @ Central Connecticut State (11/5/11) - Page 7 The Long and The Short of It - Senior wide receiver Anthony Coleman, thanks to four seasons as the starter at return specialist for Robert Morris, has put up some impressive numbers across the board. In addition to entering Saturday’s game @ Central Connecticut State ranked sixth all-time at RMU in career all-purpose yards with 3,243, Coleman has produced 66 plays for the Colonials over the last four years that have been at least 20 yards or longer. Broke down, 49 of those 65 (74.2%) have come on kickoff returns, 15 (22.7%) have come via receptions and five (7.5%) on punt returns. The 66 plays of 20 yards or longer by Coleman are the most in school history, eclipsing the 62 former wide receiver Tyjuan Massey posted from 2002 to 2005. Foot Joy - One of the most important aspects that junior Jeff Sinclair brings to the quarterback position at Robert Morris is his versatility. Sinclair produced RMU’s only touchdown against Sacred Heart (10/29) by rushing for a 22-yard score on the first possession of the game to give the Colonials an early 7-0 lead. In 26 career games, Sinclair has already rushed for 13 touchdowns. To put that in perspective, prior to Sinclair becoming the starter under center at RMU, quarterbacks combined for 16 rushing touchdowns in the first 156 games of the program’s history. New Balance - A pair of Colonials each received their first career start against Sacred Heart (10/29), as sophomore Mark Centofanti got the call at linebacker due to injuries to juniors Brad Banas and Andrew Douglass, while freshman Antwan Eddie earned his first career start at cornerback. Centofanti was one of three Colonials to finish the game with eight tackles, second for RMU on the afternoon with linebacker Jon Krepps and safety D.J. Myers. The starts for Centofanti and Eddie pushed the total of Colonials to earn their first career collegiate start at Robert Morris this season to 21. An Important Position - Catching his first career touchdown pass @ Liberty (9/10) was sophomore tight end Vince Mongelluzzo, who hauled in a nine-yard touchdown pass in with 10:25 remaining in the fourth quarter for his first career reception. One of the most important positions in head coach Joe Walton’s offense, Mongelluzzo is the 18th different tight end in the 18-year history of the program to post a touchdown catch. In fact, Mongelluzzo is currently one of four tight ends in school history whose only catch is a touchdown, joining junior Tyler Digby and former Colonials Jeremy Wise (2002-05) and Sean McElhinny (2007-10). Saturday Night Lights - Robert Morris hosted its first night game in the program’s 18year history as part of the University’s Homecoming festivities Oct. 8, rolling to a 45-14 win over in-state rival Saint Francis at Joe Walton Stadium. A total of 4,384 fans packed “The Joe” for the win over the Red Flash, the largest crowd in the seven-year history of the facility as well as the sixth official sellout since the venue opened in 2005. The game marked just the seventh time Robert Morris played a game with a kickoff after 5:00 p.m., with the Colonials owning a record of 2-5 (.286) all-time in night games. Four of RMU’s seven night games have come in the last three years. Home Sweet Home - Slowly but surely, Robert Morris has learned to protect its home turf at Joe Walton Stadium. Thanks to a 42-24 win over Central Connecticut State (11/6/10) that clinched a share of the 2010 Northeast Conference championship, RMU stretched its winning streak at “The Joe” to eight games, the longest winning streak at the facility since opening the stadium in 2005. Despite a 19-13 setback to Dayton (9/3) in the 2011 season opener that snapped the eight-game surge, overall Robert Morris owns a record of 18-17 (.514) in seven seasons at Joe Walton Stadium.

Making The Grade - Defensive lineman Nolan Nearhoof became the third player in program history to be named to the Capital One Academic All-America Team in 2010 when he earned second team accolades. Nearhoof owns a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.87 as a biology major and joined former Colonials Jonathan LeDonne (2001-04) and Ray Gensler (2003-06) to earn the honor. LeDonne, a linebacker, was named to the 2004 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America First Team, while Gensler, a defensive lineman, was a twotime honoree, earning second team accolades in 2005 and first team honors in 2006. In eight games so far on the 2011 campaign, Nearhoof owns 47 tackles, including seven and-a-half sacks, and a pair of fumble recoveries. He enters Saturday’s game @ Cenral Connecticut State as RMU’s active leader in career tackles with 124. Preseason Honors - A total of five Colonials earned spots on the 2011 All-Northeast Conference Preseason Team. Junior quarterback Jeff Sinclair, senior center Logan Miles and senior tight end Shadrae King were placed on offense, junior defensive lineman Nolan Nearhoof earned a spot on defense and senior Anthony Coleman was picked as the return specialist on special teams. In addition, King was named to the 2011 Preseason Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) All-America Second Team by both The Sports Network and Phil Steele and the 2011 Preseason FCS Honorable Mention Team by Consensus Draft Services. 2011 Robert Morris Football Game Notes @ Central Connecticut State (11/5/11) - Page 9 Those Issues Are Secondary - Through the first eight contests of the 2011 season, a member of the Robert Morris secondary has led the team in tackles in six games. Included in that group is senior cornerback Alex Tarr (twice), junior safeties Cameron Chadwick (twice) and Eric Lowry and sophomore safety D.J. Myers. Chadwick and Myers rank first and second for the Colonials in tackles so far this season with 60 and 51, respectively, with Chadwick owning a pair of double-digit takedown games. RMU defeated fellow Northeast Conference foe Central Connecticut State, 23-17, in a pair of overtimes at Joe Walton Stadium Oct. 14, 2006, for its first win over a ranked opponent. The Blue Devils entered that game ranked No. 19 by The Sports Network, while the Flames occupied the No. 15 spot in TSN’s poll before falling to the Colonials. A Colonial in the NFL Hank Fraley, who played on the offensive line for Robert Morris from 19961999, has carved a niche for himself in the National Football League (NFL). Signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers to a free agent contract in April 2000, Fraley was claimed off waivers the following August by the Philadelphia Eagles. After an ankle injury to Bubba Miller in the final 2001 preseason game, Fraley stepped up and started at center for Philadelphia the entire season, helping the team to the 2002 NFC Championship game. For four straight seasons with Fraley starting at center from 2002-05, the Eagles appeared in the NFC Championship game. In 2005, Fraley became the first RMU football alum to appear in the Super Bowl when he started at center against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX. Prior to the start of the 2006 campaign, Fraley was traded by Philadelphia to Cleveland, where he started all 16 games for the Browns on the year. Fraley played four seasons with the Browns from 2006 to 2009, earning 52 starts in 63 games, before signing as a free agent with the St. Louis Rams March 14, 2010. Entering the 2011 season, which will be his 12th year in the NFL, Fraley has started 123 of his career 142 games and has also earned 10 starts in the postseason. Primarily a center, Fraley has also started at both guard and tackle throughout his NFL career. Fraley became the second Colonial to have his number retired, joining inaugural running back Tim Hall (1994-95), as Fraley’s No. 75 was enshrined prior to RMU’s game against Sacred Heart on Sept. 22, 2001. Fraley became the sixth football inductee into the Robert Morris Athletic Hall of Fame when he was enshrined Oct. 14, 2006.
