Top Story - The Robert Morris University men’s basketball team continues play in the 2012 NIT Season Tip-Off Tuesday with a 6:00 p.m. tip against Fordham at the Petersen Events Center on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. The Colonials opened the tournament with an 89-60 loss to Lehigh (11/12/12) as junior forward Mike McFadden led RMU with his first career doubledouble thanks to 13 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. McFadden and junior forward Vaughn Morgan combined for 25 points, 18 rebounds and six blocks while shooting 58.9 percent (10-for17) from the field, as Morgan supplied 12 points, five rebounds and five blocks. Morgan converted five of his seven shots from the field, while McFadden finished 5-for-10 shooting. Redshirt senior guard Velton Jones contributed 12 points, seven assists and a pair of steals against the Mountain Hawks, helping him crack the top 10 all-time at Robert Morris in scoring. The Colonials return to the road for their next game after taking on the Rams Tuesday, visiting Cincinnati, Ohio, for a 2:00 p.m. tilt against Xavier at the Cintas Center Saturday, Nov. 17.

Quick Stat of the Night - Redshirt senior guard Velton Jones recorded his first double-figure scoring game of the 2012-13 season Monday night by finishing with 12 points against Lehigh in the opening round of the 2012 NIT Season Tip-Off. RMU’s active leader with 65 career double-figure scoring games, Jones moved into 10th place all-time in career points with 1,279. Jones moved past former forward Keith Jones, who scored 1,277 points from 1995-99. Jones enters Tuesday’s tilt against Fordham at the Petersen Events Center needing 50 points to move into ninth place all-time at Robert Morris. Former guard Gene Nabors currently ranks ninth after scoring 1,328 points from 1995 to 2000.
