Top Story - The Robert Morris University men’s basketball team wraps up play in the 2012 NIT Season Tip-Off Tuesday when it hosts Cleveland State for a 7:30 p.m. tip at the Charles L. Sewall Center. The Colonials are coming off a 71-60 win over Bowling Green (11/19/12) in which redshirt senior guard Velton Jones led four players in double figures scoring with 16 points while also adding four assists and three steals. Junior forwad Mike McFadden and junior guard Coron Williams each scored 12 points in the victory over the Falcons, while junior guard Anthony MyersPate supplied 11 points, five assists and two steals off the bench. Tuesday’s game against the Vikings is the second in a doubleheader as part of the consolation round of the NIT Season TipOff. In the first game at 5:00 p.m., Bowling Green will host Alabama-Huntsville. Cleveland State posted a 71-69 win over the Chargers in the opening game of the consolation round Nov. 19. RMU takes to the road after hosting the Vikings Tuesday, visiting Savannah State for a 7:00 p.m. tip Monday, Nov. 26.

Quick Stat of the Night - One are that seems to rounding into form nicely for the Colonials in the last week has been their defense. Despite allowing its opponents to shoot 47.9 percent (123-for257) from the field this season, Robert Morris has held each of its last three opponents to under 65 points. RMU enters Tuesday’s game against Cleveland State ranked fourth in the Northeast Conference in scoring defense (69.4 ppg), and a big key to that has been rebounding. Cleveland State owned a 57-46 lead with 4:55 remaining, but a 10-0 surge helped RMU close its deficit to 57-56 with just 56 seconds to play. Tim Kamczyc, however, went 5-for-6 at the stripe in the final 34 seconds to help the Vikings seal the victory. Guards Velton Jones and Coron Williams each scored 18 points in the setback, with Williams converting four of his six shots from beyond the arc and shooting 7-for-10 overall.
