THE PREVIOUS MEETING Robert Morris established a new program single-game record for three-point percentage in its previous meeting with Fairleigh Dickinson, as it converted 66.7 percent of its attempts to earn a 66-64 victory over the Knights on New Year’s Eve. The Colonials made 12 three-pointers in the win, falling one shy of tying the school standard in that department. Rebeca Navarro scored a season-high 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting, while Anna Niki Stamolamprou added 15 points and eight rebounds.
MUSKET SHOTS Robert Morris owns two of the three largest margins of victory in the conference, as its 41-point triumph against LIU Brooklyn is second, while its 33-point win against Wagner is third ... The Colonials are 5-0 when scoring 70 or more points and 8-0 in contests where the team allows fewer than 50 points ... RMU’s nine-game winning streak from Jan. 21 to Feb. 18 was tied for the fourth-longest in program history ... Six different Colonials (Janee Brown, Nneka Ezeigbo, Mikalah Mulrain, Rebeca Navarro, Megan Smith, Anna Niki Stamolamprou) have collected high scoring honors in 2016-17

LAST TIME OUT Robert Morris bounced back from its first February defeat on Monday by knocking off Sacred Heart, 66-56, on Saturday to move into a tie for first place in the NEC standings. The Colonials used a 22-7 run in the first quarter to take control of the game and scored 11 consecutive points in the closing frame to seal the win. Anna Niki Stamolamprou scored 18 points to lead RMU, while Nneka Ezeigbo and Janee Brown tallied 15 and 14, respectively. STARTING OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT What’s one of the secrets to RMU’s 13-4 record in NEC play? A fast start. The Colonials have outscored their opponents, 259-182, in the first quarter of their league contests, giving them an average cushion of 4.53 points entering the second frame. NEVER CHANGE The Colonials have identified themselves as a strong defensive team in the past and this season is no different. RMU currently leads the NEC in scoring defense (57.3) and field goal defense (.369), and has held seven teams to under 30 percent shooting - which is its most since eight opponents were held below that mark in the 2009-10 season. The scoring defense number is currently the second-lowest in program history, behind the 57.1 mark set by the 2009-10 team. SEEDING SCENARIOS Robert Morris has clinched a top two seed in the upcoming NEC Tournament, which secures at least two potential home games in the playoffs. In order to claim the number one seed, one of the following scenarios must take place: - RMU win over FDU, SFU win over SHU - SFU win over SHU, MSM or CCSU finishes as #4 seed THE IRON WOMAN Senior guard Janee Brown has been a constant on the floor for Robert Morris in her career, appearing in all 126 games the Colonials have played since 2013-14. She broke the program record for games played this past Monday at Bryant, surpassing 124 set by Artemis Spanou (2010-14) and Ashley Ravelli (2012-16). HARD (TO GUARD) IN THE PAINT Robert Morris has gotten consistent production from its pair of centers, freshman Nneka Ezeigbo and junior Mikalah Mulrain. In a combined 39.0 minutes per game, the duo are averaging 12.9 points on 51.4 percent shooting, while pulling down 9.5 rebounds per contest. Both players have posted a double-double this season and share a season-high in scoring of 18 points. FEELIN’ IT Senior guard Anna Niki Stamolamprou is averaging a career-high 16.2 points per game in her final hurrah and recently surpassed Laura Lindak (1989-94) for second place on the program’s all-time scoring list on Jan. 30 at Saint Francis U. Stamolamprou now has 1,721 career points and has tallied a per-game average of 14.3 points during her time in Colonial blue and white. YOU SHALL NOT SCORE Robert Morris held Central Connecticut to just 39 points on Feb. 18, which is the program’s best performance in that department since Nov. 23, 2013 when it only allowed 39 points to UMBC. LIFT OFF First-year head coach Charlie Buscaglia now owns the
winningest debut head coaching season in program history as his 18-10 record surpassed Dan Swalga’s 14-win campaign in 1978-79. AS WE GO ON, WE REMEMBER The senior trio of Janee Brown, Rebeca Navarro, and Anna Niki Stamolamprou has accomplished so much during their time at Robert Morris. They have been a part of 75 overall wins at RMU and 52 NEC victories, and helped guide the program to three trips to the NEC Championship Game, two NEC titles, and a NEC regular-season crown. THE FLOOR GENERAL Janee Brown owns a 1.42 assist-to-turnover ratio through 28 games of her final season in a Colonial uniform. Brown (111a, 78t) currently leads the Northeast Conference, which hasn’t been done since 2009-10 when Angela Pace topped the league with a 2.36 mark. NEC’S FINEST Anna Niki Stamolamprou was named NEC Player of the Week for the third time this season and sixth time overall on Feb. 1. Stamolamprou’s six top player honors is one shy of tying the program record of seven, held by both Sugeiry Monsac (2004-07) and Artemis Spanou (201014). A NEW HOME IN 2019 On Thursday, Jan. 19, it was announced that the RMU basketball teams as well as the volleyball program will play their home contests at the UPMC Events Center come January 2019. The new facility will feature the 4,000-plus-seat Peoples Court, a practice court, and numerous other amenities. Construction on the venue is slated to begin this July. CHUCK’S CHARMS The Charles L. Sewall Center, regularly referred to as ‘The Chuck’, has been a house of horrors for Robert Morris’ opponents in its history. Since 2004-05, the Colonials have gone 140-41 (.773) at home and own a 96-20 (.828) mark in Northeast Conference contests. LOCKDOWN D Robert Morris’ defensive prowess was at full display against LIU Brooklyn on Jan. 9, establishing single-game program records for points allowed in a quarter and opponent field goal percentage. The Colonials held the Blackbirds to just three points in the opening frame, fewer than the previous standard of five on Feb. 29, 2016 against Saint Francis U. For the game, LIU shot just 19.6 percent from the field as its two leading scorers were held to a combined 1-of-20 shooting. BOARDING PASS Anna Niki Stamolamprou became the 20th member of RMU’s 500 rebound club on Dec. 18, pulling down six caroms to surpass the marker. The feat also made her just the third player in program history to tally 500 rebounds and 300 assists, joining Artemis Spanou (1563r, 370a) and Angela Pace (508r, 303a). SHOTS FALL, RECORDS FALL Anna Niki Stamolamprou had a night to remember on Jan. 9 against LIU Brooklyn as she tied the program’s single-game records for points and field goals made. Stamolamprou’s 39 points created a deadlock between her and Artemis Spanou (Feb. 8, 2014 vs. St. Francis Brooklyn), while her 15 field goals was the fourth time that number has been reached. A NEW, BUT FAMILIAR VOICE
WHO WAS ROBERT MORRIS?
The “Financier of the American Revolution,” he isn’t as famous as his friend George Washington, but without Robert Morris, the American colonies’ bold attempt to throw off British rule never could have succeeded. Born in 1734 in Liverpool, England, Robert Morris sailed to the United States with his father when he was 14 years old. Morris became a partner at the import export firm of Willing & Morris where he made his millions. After, he became the spokesman for opposition to the Stamp Act, smuggled arms for the new American army and navy, signed the Declaration of Independence, secured financing — often using his personal credit — to fight the Revolutionary War and served as a Pennsylvania state senator. He died in Philadelphia on May 8, 1806.

After spending 13 seasons under his father, Charlie Buscaglia enters his first season as head coach of the Colonials. Coach B, as he is respectfully called, has served as the associate head coach for eight seasons under Sal Buscaglia and was an assistant for the five seasons before that. A 2003 graduate of Manhattan College, Coach B has excelled on the recruiting trail during his career, bringing to Moon Township some of the program’s all-time greats, such as Artemis Spanou, Angela Pace, and Sade Logan, among many others. WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS, MY FRIENDS Robert Morris enters the 2016-17 season with a familiar label attached: reigning NEC champions. The Colonials won their sixth NEC crown in March and advanced to their fourth NCAA Tournament; all appearances coming since the 2006-07 season. HIGH EXPECTATIONS Robert Morris was selected to finish second in the NEC this season, according to a poll of the league’s head coaches. The Colonials earned three first place votes and saw Anna Niki Stamolamprou be named to her second consecutive Preseason All-NEC Team. a record of 139-59 (.702) in Northeast Conference play and won four regular season and four tournament titles. The Colonials have gone 202-144 (.584) over that span, reaching the 20-win mark in six seasons. NATIONALLY KNOWN Robert Morris has played in a national tournament in seven of the last 10 seasons. In 2007 and 2008, the Colonials took part in the NCAA Tournament. A Preseason WNIT berth followed in 2008-09 and a Postseason WNIT in 2009-10. The 2011-12 season ended with the top seed in the Women’s Basketball Invitational before RMU returned to the Big Dance in 2014 and 2016. INSURMOUNTABLE LEAD Robert Morris has never lost a game in which it has held the lead at the end of the second half. The Colonials were 20-0 in such situations last season and 18-0 in the 201617 campaign. All-time, RMU is 533-0 when leading at the final whistle.

2016-17 NEC PRESEASON
The Robert Morris University women’s basketball team was selected second in the 2016-17 Northeast Conference (NEC) Women’s Basketball Preseason Coaches’ Poll, as announced by the league at its annual Social Media Day held in Brooklyn, N.Y.’s Barclays Center. This is the fifth time in six seasons that the Colonials have been picked to finish in the top two of the conference. Robert Morris, who received three of the 10 first-place votes, has enjoyed a historic run over the past three seasons, capturing two NEC crowns (2013-14, 2015-16) while appearing in the league’s championship game in all three years. The Colonials finished the 2015-16 campaign with a 20-13 overall record and an 11-7 mark in conference, clinching its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance with a 56-51 victory at top-seeded Sacred Heart in the NEC Championship Game. Senior guard Anna Niki Stamolamprou, a Preseason All-NEC Team selection, is one of four starters returning for RMU. The 2016 NEC Tournament MVP averaged 13.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game as a junior, and finished in the league’s top 10 for scoring, assists (110), threepoint field goal percentage (.337), three-point field goals (67), and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.05). Stamolamprou is the program’s all-time leader in three-point field goals (210) and sits seventh on the career scoring list with 1,301 points to her name. Paired with her in the backcourt is fellow fourth-year Rebeca Navarro, who paced the conference in threepoint field goal percentage (.452) last season. Navarro started 18 of the 33 contests, averaging 7.3 points and 2.9 rebounds per game, and tallied double-figures on 10 different occasions. The Galicia, Spain native also ranked second on the team in three-point makes (48) and free throw percentage (.842). The frontcourt returns a pair of juniors in Megan Smith and Mikalah Mulrain. Smith ranked eighth in the NEC in field goal percentage (.432) and paced the Colonials in rebounding (187, 5.7), while Mulrain finished third in the league in blocked shots (47) and second on the team cleaning the glass (185, 5.6). RMU also brings back four returnees (Nia Adams, Janee Brown, Shakema Dashiell, Jocelynne Jones) that played in over 75 percent of last year’s games and welcomes a quartet of freshmen (Ja’lynn Burton-Jones, Nneka Ezeigbo, Nadège Pluviose, Lucia Striešová) into the fold. 2016-17 NEC Preseason Coaches Poll 1. CHARLIE BUSCAGLIA
Head Coach 14th season at Robert Morris 1st season as head coach Manhattan ‘03 Charlie Buscaglia enters his first season as head coach of the Robert Morris University women’s basketball team at Robert Morris University. Coach B, as he is respectfully called, is no stranger to the Colonials basketball program, however. Last season, the long-time assistant completed his 13th season on the Colonials coaching staff, acting as the associate head coach for the last eight seasons. “Charlie has long been an integral part of the success of our program with increasing responsibilities over the years,” said RMU Director of Athletics Craig Coleman. “We are grateful that we will be able to maintain continuity in the program under Charlie’s leadership to ensure that we will have great success in years to come.” Buscaglia has always believed recruiting is the lifeline of a program. After taking over as recruiting coordinator in 2003, he went in search of the best talent both near and far, connecting with athletes from not only all over the country, but all over the world. “Most people assume you are a great recruiter when you sign great talent. What I have learned over my years as a coach, however, is that recruiting talent – along with a strong work ethic – is what separates one from the others. My mission will always be for my staff to bring in student-athletes that work hard on the court and in the classroom,” said Buscaglia. Coach B’s rundown of All-Northeast Conference players is an impressive list of who’s-who among NEC stars. The all-star cavalcade began with the signing of Sugeiry Monsac in 2004. Monsac was the 2004-05 NEC Player of the Year who went on to play in the Israeli Division I League and was recently inducted into the RMU Athletics Hall of Fame. She was followed by a pair of 2006 All-NEC selections in Psyché Butler and Natasha Summerville. His strong recruiting record received national recognition when his 2006-07 recruiting class was ranked as one of the top50 classes by the Adidas All-Star Report. Buscaglia pulled off another recruiting coup when he signed University of Kentucky recruit Sade Logan in the 2006 recruiting class. Logan, who was a top-20 player coming out of high school, earned NEC Player of the Year honors in 2009 and tied the NCAA Division I record for three-pointers with 126. She finished third in the nation in scoring at 24.7 points per game. Another class of 2006 recruit, Chinata Nesbit, was a two-time All-NEC First Team pick and was twice the NEC Tournament most valuable player. Nesbit is also responsible for the only two triple-doubles in team history. Not as well known when she was recruited out of Monroe College, Angela Pace was a diamond in the rough, using her athleticism to become the only player in NEC history to earn both NEC Player of the Year and NEC Defensive Player of the Year honors. The 5’10” guard is the shortest player in team history to record 500 career rebounds and is now playing professionally in Germany. More recently, Coach B’s recruiting tendrils have gone international with impressive results. Artemis Spanou, a native of Greece, was a two-time NEC Player of the Year and is the team’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder. The first rookie of the year winner in team history, she was quickly joined by Italian-native Ashley Ravelli who earned NEC Rookie of the Year honors in 2013. The list doesn’t end there. Anna Niki Stamolamprou was an All-Rookie team selection in 2014 and an All-NEC team selection in 2015 and 2016. Stamolamprou was named the 2016 NEC Tournament MVP after helping RMU to Northeast Conference title in March. Megan Smith and Mikalah Mulrain continued the tradition of freshmen making an immediate impact, joining the growing list of RMU’s all-rookie team selections when they both earned spots on the league’s 2015 squad. Buscaglia came to Robert Morris from Manhattan College, the 2003 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Champions and NCAA tournament participant, where he was an assistant from 1998 until 2003. While at Manhattan, Buscaglia focused mainly on recruiting and developing the perimeter players. He signed Rosalee Mason, who averaged a double-double for the Lady Jaspers and finished her career as Manhattan’s all-time leading rebounder and the leading scorer. She is one of the many players Coach B has signed over his career that is still playing professionally in Europe. “The entire Robert Morris community continually strives to fulfill all the needs of its students and student-athletes, which is beneficial to building a winning tradition,” stated Buscaglia. “The University has given me tremendous support in my quest to recruit top student-athletes, which has helped Robert Morris to build a tradition of not only being a Northeast Conference contender, but a nationally competitive program.” Aside from recruiting, Buscaglia has helped run summer basketball camps and clinics at the University at Buffalo from 1994 until 1998 and was a camp coordinator at Manhattan during his tenure there. A native of Buffalo, N.Y., Buscaglia graduated from Manhattan in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science degree in general studies. Buscaglia and his wife, Roseline, currently reside in Moon Township, Pa.
