Rhodes Arena - Akron, Ohio Against the ZIPS Robert Morris has played Akron eight times in its history, but have fallen each time. Last year in the teams’ first meeting since 2005, Zips beat the Colonials in straight sets at the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational. Scouting Akron The Zips come into this matchup with an overall record of 5-5, but have dropped three of their last four matches. Akron has one common opponent with Robert Morris, as it was swept by Indiana State at the Indiana State Tournament on Aug. 29. Sophomore outside hitter Amanda Bedell leads the team with 86 kills and 93.5 points, while senior middle blocker Mary Delich paces the Zips in blocks with 24 (7 solo, 17 assist).
Recapping Last Week Butler 3, Robert Morris 0 (17-25, 19-25, 16-25) The Colonials dropped its first match of the Omni Invitational this past weekend in straight sets to Butler. Brianna Frakes and Hannah Hoffman each had double-digit assists for RMU, while Erica Robb was a kill and dig away from a double-double. Colorado 3, Robert Morris 0 (11-25, 9-25, 15-25) The hosts of the Omni Invitational, Colorado, toppled the Colonials in straight sets to kick off the second day of the tournament. Leah Dunivan had two block assists for the visitors, while Brianna Frakes picked up a service ace in the third set. Idaho State 3, RObert Morris 0 (16-25, 13-25, 17-25) The Colonials ended the invitational by winning their first game of the season, topping UMass Lowell in four sets. RMU used a balanced attacking effort to knock off the Riverhawks, as five different players tallied six or more kills. Becky Jay was the lone Colonial with double-digit kills as she notched 11 on a .524 hitting percentage.
