Albany (1-0 / 0-0 NEC) @ Robert Morris (0-1 / 0-0 NEC) Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at Noon Joe Walton Stadium (3,000) - Moon Township, Pa. Radio: WPIT-AM 730 (Chris Shovlin - play-by-play & Brian Cleary - color) Live Video/Audio on the internet at: www.rmucolonials.com

Top Story - The Robert Morris University football team begins its 2012 home slate this Saturday, Sept. 8, at Noon as the Colonials welcome Northeast Conference (NEC) foe Albany to Joe Walton Stadium. The Colonials are coming off a season-opening setback to defending NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) national champion North Dakota State (9/1) that was played in front of a standing-room-only crowd of 18,769. Senior safety Cameron Chadwick posted a gamehigh 12 tackles to lead the Colonial defense one week ago. After opening with one of the toprated teams in the country, the road will not get much easier Saturday as RMU faces the defending NEC champion Great Danes. Robert Morris is 13-5 (.722) all-time in home openers, and it will play a defending NEC champion for the 16th time in school history Saturday. Once it opens league play, RMU will resume non-conference action next week with a trip to Dayton (9/15). After enjoying a bye week, the Colonials will return home to welcome Lafayette (9/29) in just the second home night game in program history as part of the University’s Homecoming festivities. Quick Stat of the Afternoon - Robert Morris is set to play in Joe Walton Stadium for the first time this season Saturday, and the Colonials enter the game with an all-time mark of 13-5 (.722) in home openers. Additionally, RMU’s home opener is also serving as its Northeast Conference opener in 2012. The Colonials are 2-0 (1.000) all-time when playing a league game as part of their home opener as they took down Central Connecticut State (42-17) in 1998 and knocked off Saint Francis (36-6) in 2003. Top performances by RMU in home openers: most points - 49 (vs. Butler - 9/17/05); fewest points allowed - 0 (vs. Butler - 9/14/96); most rushing yards - 282 (9/14/96 vs. Butler); most passing yards - 298 (9/10/94 vs. Monmouth); most total yards of offense - 466 (9/14/96 vs. Butler); fewest yards allowed - 113 (9/27/03 vs. Saint Francis) Saturday’s Opponent - Robert Morris and Albany will be meeting for the 14th time on the football field Saturday, with the Great Danes holding a slim 7-6 advantage. It will be the seventh meeting in Moon Township where the series is tied, 3-3. Albany walked away with a 28-17 victory Oct. 15, 2011 en route to the NEC conference title, but the Colonials were dominant in a 38-0 romp the last time these teams met at Joe Walton Stadium. The average margin of victory by the winning team has been 17.6 points. Albany and RMU have combined for 11 NEC championships; no two NEC schools have combined for more league titles. For more information on the all-time series against Albany, including the last game recap, please see page four of today’s game notes. On This Date (Sept. 8) in Robert Morris Football History - Robert Morris won its only prior NEC game played on September 8 as Michael Walser's (2005-07) 36-yard field goal with 47 seconds left lifted the Colonials to an emotional 20-17 victory at Monmouth in 2007. The win came without head coach Joe Walton, who did not make the trip due to the death of his wife earlier in the week. It is the only game which Walton has missed during his 19 years at RMU. The Hawks jumped out to a 14-0 lead after 15 minutes, but RMU would respond. Erik Cwalinski (2005-08) hit Julian Ellison (2004-07) with a 43-yard pass to cut the lead in half, and the Colonials tied it when Jeff Link (2007-10) plunged into the end zone from three yards out in the third quarter. After the teams traded field goals, Walser booted through his second of the game in the final minute for the game-winning score. Robert Morris tied a school record for largest deficit overcome to win, charging back from 14 down at the end of the first quarter to claim the victory.

2012 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Albany (9/8/12) - Page 3

Head Coach Joe Walton 19th Season - Pittsburgh ’57 At the forefront of the football renaissance at Robert Morris University throughout its 19-year history is Joe Walton, who has built the Colonials from a fledgling program into one of the top Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) teams in the region. The one constant associated with the program, Walton was named the first head coach July 27, 1993. He started the program from scratch, completing everything from hiring assistant coaches to purchasing equipment to recruiting student-athletes for the team’s inaugural season in 1994. Walton’s fingerprints are all over the football program, and to prove that, RMU has played its home games since 2005 in a stadium that bears his name. During his tenure, Walton has led Robert Morris to the first Northeast Conference championship in 1996, guided RMU to a perfect 10-0 season in 2000 and in 2010 helped lead the Colonials to the NEC’s inaugural bid to the NCAA FCS Playoffs with their league-high sixth regular-season championship. “It’s hard to believe,” Walton speaks on how fast time has elapsed. “I’ve said this many times before, and I mean it when I say that this situation is one of the best things that has ever happened to me in my life. It happened at the right time. Before this position became available, I felt I was too young to quit coaching, but I wasn’t anxious to get back into pro football. When this came along, it was the perfect fit. This situation was the perfect opportunity for me to continue to do what I like to do, and I’ve loved every minute of it.” Under Walton’s tutelage, the Colonials have claimed outright NEC regular-season titles three times (1997, 1999, 2000) while sharing three others (1996, 1998, 2010). Walton led Robert Morris to back-to-back ECAC Bowl victories in 1996 and 1997, and in 1999 and 2000 he guided RMU to a pair of NCAA I-AA mid-major national crowns according to Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette. In 2010, Walton added to his legacy by engineering the Colonials on an eightgame winning streak for a share of the NEC regular-season title and the NEC’s first bid in the NCAA FCS Playoffs. In the process he picked up his 100th career victory in the collegiate ranks.

Last RMU Game vs. Albany Game #6 Albany 28, Robert Morris 17 October 15, 2011 / Albany, N.Y. University Field (Attendance: 5,878) - Dan Di Lella's three touchdown passes in the first half helped Albany jump out to a 21-0 lead as the Great Danes snapped Robert Morris’ two-game winning streak with a 28-17 win over the Colonials at University Field. On the first play of the second possession of the afternoon for the Great Danes, Di Lella hit Cole King for a 44-yard touchdown pass to give Albany an early 7-0 lead. Di Lella would strike again on Albany's next possession, this time hitting Nick Hutcherson with a nine-yard touchdown pass that capped an 11-play, 80-yard drive and gave the Great Danes a 14-0 advantage. Di Lella's third touchdown strike of the first half came with 4:12 left before the break when he hit Ryan Kirchner in the back of the end zone for a 27-yard scoring pass. RMU's offense sprung to life in the second half, as quarterback Jeff Sinclair engineered a 10-play, 62-yard drive and capped it with an eight-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Donte Jeter. Jeter hauled in all three of his receptions of the game during the drive, accumulating 25 yards and his first career touchdown. Albany stalled at the 24-yard line of the Colonials on its next drive, and a 42-yard field goal attempt by Herb Glass fell short due to stiffening winds. Robert Morris responded by marching to the Albany 19-yard line before settling for a 36-yard field goal by Greg Langer to close to within 21-10 at the end of the third quarter. The Great Danes helped squash any chance of an RMU comeback on their next drive, calling six straight running plays, the last of which was a one-yard touchdown plunge by Dillon Romain. On the second play of the drive, Romain galloped 34 yards to the RMU 29-yard line and finished with five carries for 63 yards during the decisive possession. Sinclair added a 17-yard touchdown run with just 26 seconds remaining for the final score of the game and finished the afternoon with 236 yards of total offense. In addition to completing 12 of his 33 pass attempts for 158 yards and a touchdown, Sinclair added 78 yards rushing on 14 carries and a score to pace the RMU ground game. Jeter, tight end Shadrae King and wide receiver Rickeem Jackson each finished with three receptions, with Jackson accumulating 37 yards receiving and King 29. Romain finished with 93 yards rushing, while Drew Smith added 17 carries for 90 yards for the Great Danes. Di Lella finished 20-for-30 passing for 279 yards and three touchdowns and was sacked just once as Albany finished with 473 yards of total offense on the afternoon. Defensively the Colonials were led by safety Cameron Chadwick, who recorded a game and career-high 16 tackles. Alex Tarr and Jon Krepps registered nine and eight tackles, respectively, while linebacker Kyle Cooper posted two and-a-half tackles for loss, including a sack, among his seven takedowns. Last Time Out - While Robert Morris was unable to come up with a huge upset of defending national champion North Dakota State in its season opener, there were still a few performances and debuts to highlight. Senior safety Cameron Chadwick led the Robert Morris defense by posting a game-high 12 tackles, including one tackle for a loss, and a pass breakup. Linebacker Mike Cook netted eight tackles, including four of the solo variety, along with forcing a Bison fumble inside the red zone, his first-ever forced fumble. Sophomore Duane Mitchell collected the first three receptions of his career while Evan Taylor started at tailback for the first time and rushed 18 times. No Tickets - When Robert Morris opened its 2012 season last Saturday at No. 1/2 North Dakota State, the Colonials had to face more than the defending national champions on the field. RMU competed in front of a hostile standing-room-only crowd whose noise was magnified by the domed stadium. In fact, the sellout of 18,769 fans marked the biggest attendance to ever witness a RMU football contest. The previous top mark of 15,805 had been set at Williams Stadium Sept. 10, 2011 when RMU played at Liberty. Defending Champs - When Robert Morris takes the field Saturday afternoon against Albany, the Colonials will be facing a defending NEC champion for the 16th time in program history. RMU owns an all-time record of 8-7 (.533) against league teams that won a conference title a year prior, including a 3-2 (.600) mark at home and a 2-1 (.667) mark at Joe Walton Stadium. Robert Morris has actually won five of its past seven games against defending NEC champions, a stretch that dates to the 2006 season. Two of those wins came by a mere three points, each of which was courtesy of a Colonial field goal in the game’s final minute, while a third came during an overtime session. The last time a reigning NEC champion entered RMU’s home turf was Nov. 6, 2010 when Central Connecticut State visited Robert Morris. The Colonials jumped out of the gate, scoring 21 points in the game’s opening 13 minutes, and tallied 475 yards of total offense as they coasted to a 42-24 victory. RMU’s all-time leading rusher, and current assistant coach, Myles Russ (2007-10) tallied 177 yards on the ground via 24 carries to help knock off the Blue Devils. Saying Goodbye - With Albany’s recent announcement that it will be departing the Northeast Conference at the end of the 2012 season, this is the final time these squads will be meeting with a bearing on the league standings. In fact, with the current nature of college football scheduling in which teams schedule games years in advance, this could be the final meeting between the Colonials and Great Danes for quite some time. Picking Up Steam - Greg Langer has settled in nicely as RMU’s starting placekicker, as the senior has hit eight straight field goal attempts and 12 of his last 14 in the last 10 games. Langer finished tied with Charlie Leventry of Duquesne for the Northeast Conference lead in both field goals (12) and field goals per game (1.09) in 2011. Thanks to his 27-yard field goal against Duquesne in the 2011 season finale (11/19), Langer broke the RMU school record for consecutive field goals made. Former kicker Jeff Carlo (1998-2001) had converted seven straight over the course of the 1998 and 1999 seasons, while former kicker Michael Walser (2005-07) closed out the 2007 campaign by hitting seven straight field goals. Langer has not taken an easy path to the record either as five of his past eight field goals have been converted from farther than 35 yards. Experience Counts - When taking a look down the Robert Morris roster, the Colonials seem to have a bevy of experience at the defensive line position. Defensive linemen R.J. Cook, Farren Mason, Sam Miller, Steve Mitchell, Nolan Nearhoof and Chris Thompkins have combined for 86 starts during their time at RMU. Due to injuries, each member of the sextet saw starting assignments during the 2011 season. Miller leads the way with 25 starts, although the first 22 of his career actually came when he was a member of the offensive line. Mitchell and Nearhoof both have 23 starts while Mason has earned the nod 10 times in his career. Start Me Up - Steve Mitchell enters Saturday’s game @ NDSU with the most consecutive starting assignments of any active Colonial. Mitchell has started 23 straight games at defensive end. A.J. Dalton is second in that category with 18 straight starts on the offensive line. Jeff Sinclair is the Colonials’ active leader in overall starts with 27.

2012 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Albany (9/8/12) - Page 6 Rank and File - Robert Morris played against a nationally ranked opponent for the fifth time in school history when it opened the season at North Dakota State this past Saturday. However, it was the first time that RMU has ever squared off with a team that sat among the top 10 in the country. In fact, NDSU entered the season ranked No. 1 in the FCS Coaches’ Poll and No. 2 by The Sports Network. The Colonials’ loss to the Bison dropped them to 2-3 (.400) all-time against ranked foes. Although Albany is not currently nationally ranked, they are garnering votes in both major FCS polls, including sitting 10th in the other receiving votes section in the Coaches’ Poll. To see the latest FCS national rankings by The Sports Network, please see page 7 of RMU’s game notes. No More Zeroes - RMU was shutout for just the fourth time in the 187 games in program history in its season opener this past Saturday. However, if history is any indication, the Colonial offense could bounce back with a vengeance this week. Before last Saturday, the last time the Colonials were shutout was Oct. 22, 2005. The following week RMU hosted Stony Brook, the eventual NEC co-champion that year, and exploded for 37 points against the Seawolves. Robert Morris piled up 461 total yards of offense on 76 plays, averaging more than six yards per play. Drew Geyer (2002-05) completed 20-of-35 passes for 313 yards and tossed five touchdowns. Wide receiver Tyjuan Massey (2002-05) set a single-game school record by snaring four touchdowns in the air while racking up 131 receiving yards. Amazingly, all four of Massey’s touchdowns came in the second quarter in a span 12:17. Once Stony Brook had opened up a 14-0 lead after 15 minutes, Robert Morris came storming back with 31 second-quarter points. Cam The Man - Senior safety Cameron Chadwick had one of the top games of his career the last time he saw an Albany offense across the line of scrimmage. In last year’s meeting with the Great Danes, Chadwick finished with a game and career-high 16 tackles, eight of which were of the solo variety. Chadwick’s 16 stops represent the best single-game mark by a Colonial since Alex DiMichele (2008-10) posted 19 tackles Oct. 2, 2010 at Saint Francis. Any Given Saturday - Entering Saturday’s contest against Albany, there are two Colonials who would have pretty good odds of seeing the field, judging solely by their past histories. Redshirt seniors Sanchez Faugue and Sam Miller have each appeared in 34 games in their RMU careers, tops among active players. Faugue has the distinction of competing in each of the past 34 contests while Miller missed the 2010 season, but played in every game in 2008, 2009 and 2011. Seniors Eric Lowry and Steve Mitchell are in hot pursuit of this duo as they have seen the field in 33 games in their respective careers, including 25 straight by Mitchell. Fresh Faces - As with any other year, the 2012 season opener featured the first collegiate appearances for some newer Colonials. A total of five Colonials made their first career start this past Saturday at North Dakota State, including three on offense. Junior Evan Taylor received his first career start at running back after moving over from the defensive side of the ball. Junior tight end Andrew Smith and sophomore offensive lineman Nick Faraci, both firsttime starters, helped block for Taylor. Sophomore cornerback Zach Washington and sophomore linebacker Mile Neilson also claimed their firstever starts against NDSU. Faraci and Washington were two of the 13 Colonials who competed in a RMU uniform for the first time against the Bison. Hanging Chad - Safety Cameron Chadwick emerged as a leader for the Robert Morris defense in 2011 and earned All-NEC Second Team honors as a result. Chadwick finished with a team-high 80 tackles last season, including 32 solo stops. Chadwick really came on at the end of the year as he averaged over nine tackles per game in the team’s final half-dozen contests.

Last RMU Game Game #1 • No. 1/2 North Dakota State 52, Robert Morris 0 September 1, 2012 • Fargo, N.D. Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome (Attendance: 18,769) - Robert Morris dropped its 2012 season opener as defending national champion and preseason No. 1/2 North Dakota State claimed a 52-0 nonconference decision. Playing in front of a standing-room-only crowd of 18,769, the largest crowd that RMU has ever competed in front of, the host Bison used good field position throughout the game to launch a number of short scoring drives. In fact, North Dakota State had only one drive longer than 55 yards that resulted in points. Senior safety Cameron Chadwick led the Robert Morris defense by posting a game-high 12 tackles, including one tackle for a loss, and a pass breakup. It marked the fourth time in Chadwick’s past seven games that he recorded double-figure tackles. Linebacker Mike Cook netted eight tackles, including four of the solo variety, along with forcing a Bison fumble inside the red zone, his first-ever forced fumble. North Dakota State received the opening kickoff and marched 76 yards on 10 plays for a touchdown, a drive that concluded with a oneyard pass from Brock Jensen to Taylor Nelsen. After Robert Morris was forced to punt on its first possession, NDSU took over with great field position at the RMU 31-yard line. However, the Colonial defense stood strong as it allowed the Bison just five yards on four plays as both Chadwick and Zach Washington contributed pass breakups, forcing the Bison into a long field goal attempt which they missed. RMU earned a first down on the next drive, getting the ball close to midfield, before it was forced to punt. The Bison then drove down the field but were promptly stopped when Cook ripped the ball loose to force a turnover. John Crockett made the score 14-0 on a 26-yard scamper down the sideline early in the second quarter, and Adam Keller added a field goal late in the half to set the score at 17-0 at intermission. Robert Morris actually held advantages in time of possession and third-down conversions in the first half but had nothing to show for it. North Dakota State broke the game open in the third quarter as the hosts scored three times in the first 10 minutes of the frame. Sophomore quarterback Matt Layman completed 10 passes on 21 attempts before he was forced to leave the game due to injury. Sophomore wide receiver Duane Mitchell collected the first three receptions of his career to aid the receiving corps. Score By Quarters Robert Morris North Dakota State

2012 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Albany (9/8/12) - Page 7 Making the Grade - Defensive lineman Nolan Nearhoof was named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-America Second Team this past November, becoming only the second student-athlete in program history to earn two CoSIDA Academic All-American honors. Nearhoof had previously become the third player in program history to be named to the ESPN Academic All-America Team in 2010 when he earned second team accolades. Nearhoof owns a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.73 as a biology major and joined former Colonials Jonathan LeDonne (2001-04) and Ray Gensler (2003-06) to earn the honor. LeDonne, a linebacker, was named to the 2004 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America First Team, while Gensler, a defensive lineman, was a two-time honoree, earning second team accolades in 2005 and first team honors in 2006. Nearhoof was also named as the NEC Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second-consecutive year. He was the fourth player in program history to claim that honor but the first to ever win it twice. Regulation Only - Entering Saturday’s game against Albany, Robert Morris will have gone 59 consecutive games without having a contest go into overtime. That is the longest such streak in program history since the NCAA instituted overtime in college football for the 1996 season. In fact, every other current member of the NEC has played at least one overtime game since RMU’s last such contest. The last time the Colonials headed to overtime was Oct. 14, 2006 when RMU upset No. 19 Central Connecticut State, 23-17 (2OT), in what was the program’s first-ever game against a nationally ranked opponent. After Jacky Candy (2006) intercepted a Blue Devil pass right near the goal line in the second extra session, Erik Cwalinski (2005-08) hooked up with Mario Hines (2004, 2006-07) for a game-winning 14-yard touchdown pass on 3rd-and-12. That contest against the Blue Devils remains the only home game in RMU history to go into overtime. Preseason Honors - Robert Morris had six student-athletes named to Phil Steele’s Preseason All-NEC team in his FCS preseason magazine. Four of the Colonials’ selections came on either the First Team offense or the First Team defense, a figure that was tied for the most in the league among that segment. Offensive lineman A.J. Dalton and fullback Nick Groat garnered a All-NEC First Team mention while defensive lineman Nolan Nearhoof and safety Cameron Chadwick, both of whom are returning all-conference players, picked up All-NEC First Team honors on the defensive side. Defensive linemen Chris Thompkins and Steve Mitchell were both placed on the All-NEC Second Team. The four Colonials claiming preseason honors on the defensive side of the ball, three of whom were defensive linemen, tied Robert Morris with Monmouth for the most combined defensive players to claim such honors from a single team. Near a Record - Robert Morris senior defensive lineman Nolan Nearhoof not only stands up in the classroom but also on the football field. Nearhoof claimed his secondconsecutive All-NEC First Team honor in 2011 despite missing the final two games due to injury. In doing so, Nearhoof became just the third player in the league, on offense or defense, to earn an all-conference first team award in both 2010 and 2011. He finished fourth on the team with 60 tackles last year, 24 of which were solo stops. He also led the Colonials in sacks (7.5) and tackles for loss (12.5), totals that were good enough to rank fourth and sixth, respectively, in the Northeast Conference. Nearhoof entered his final season of eligibility as RMU's active leader in tackles (137), tackles for loss (23) and sacks (16). His 16 sacks are closing in on the program record of 19, which is currently held by Ray Gensler (2003-06). For Starters - When Robert Morris took the field for the first time last Saturday at North Dakota State, fans may have been anxious to see what the opening-day lineup featured. However, if 2011 is any indication, what you see one week may change the following Saturday. Due to a number of injuries as well as changes with the depth chart, Robert Morris used nine different starting lineups on offense last season. The starters actually stayed the same for three straight weeks in October (10/15, 10/22, 10/29), but RMU had changes in its lineup from one week to the next throughout the early and late parts of the campaign. The Colonials were forced into starting three different quarterbacks and also had five different tailbacks/fullbacks start a game. The only returning Colonial on offense who started every game in 2011 is lineman A.J. Dalton.

Head Coach-In-Waiting John Banaszak

Team

Robert Morris University Director of Athletics Craig Coleman, M.D., announced this past January that RMU Assistant Head Football Coach John Banaszak has been named the program's coach-in-waiting. Banaszak, who has spent the last nine years as an assistant coach and assistant head coach with the Colonials, will take over for current head coach Joe Walton at the conclusion of the 2013 season. "Coach Walton has done a tremendous job starting the program from scratch and developing it to its current level," Coleman said. "We are blessed to have another outstanding coach on our staff in Coach Banaszak to provide leadership and excellence when Walton retires." The 2011 season marked Banaszak's ninth season as a member of the Robert Morris football coach staff, including his fourth campaign as assistant head coach. Among his many duties with the program, Banaszak is responsible for tutoring the defensive line and the special teams unit. During Banaszak's time at Robert Morris, the Colonials have led the Northeast Conference in total defense four times (2004, 2006, 2009 and 2010) and have finished in the top five in the league on eight occasions. Banaszak was a key component to a 2010 defense that led the NEC in total defense, allowing an average of 312.6 yards per game, and coaching a defensive line that recorded 13 of RMU's 21 sacks as the Colonials claimed the NEC's inaugural berth in the FCS Playoffs. In 2006, Banaszak helped tutor an RMU defense that led I-AA in total defense, allowing an average of just 228.36 yards per game. Under Banaszak's guidance, former defensive lineman Ray Gensler (2003-06) tied the RMU single-season school record for sacks with 11 in 2006 en route to earning All-NEC First Team honors. Gensler also established a career record in sacks with 19 thanks to 11 in 2006, and the Robert Morris defensive line that season recorded 28 and-a-half of RMU's school record 34 sacks. Eight of the 11 players in school history to earn All-NEC recognition on the defensive line have come under the tutelage of Banaszak, including Nolan Nearhoof, who led the Colonials with seven and-a-half sacks last year en route to being named to the 2011 All-NEC First Team. Prior to RMU, Banaszak served as the 30th head coach in Washington & Jefferson football history, leading the Presidents to a record of 38-9 (.809) in his four seasons on the sidelines between 1999 and 2002. In each of those four campaigns, he was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference Coach of the Year and ranks third on the college's all-time victory list. A 1975 graduate of Eastern Michigan with a bachelor's degree in health, physical education and recreation, Banaszak signed as a free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers prior to the 1975 season and was one of only three rookies to make the defending Super Bowl champion team out of training camp. Primarily a special teams player on Pittsburgh's Super Bowl X championship team, Banaszak started five games the following season and then started at both right end and inside tackle in 1977 before suffering a knee injury that forced him to the injured reserve list. Between 1978 and 1980, Banaszak started 45 regular-season games at defensive end as the Steelers won back-to-back Super Bowl championships. In Super Bowl XIII, Banaszak recorded six tackles, including a pair of sacks, and a fumble recovery in a 35-31 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, which garnered him Defensive Player of the Game honors. The following year in Super Bowl XIV, Banaszak finished with five tackles and a sack in a 31-19 victory over the Los Angeles Rams.

2012 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Albany (9/8/12) - Page 9 Watch This - Robert Morris was represented when College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) released its 2012 Watch Lists prior to the season. Senior Nolan Nearhoof was placed on the defensive end/defensive tackle list while senior Greg Langer was named to the placekicker list. Nearhoof earned All-NEC First Team honors for the second straight season in 2011 after posting 60 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. Langer made each of his final eight field goals in 2012, setting a new program record for most consecutive made field goals, and has converted on 12 of his last 14 overall. Get To The Chopper - A quick glance at RMU’s record when broken down proves how important it is the Colonials get off to a good start in contests. When Robert Morris is leading at halftime, the program owns an all-time record of 85-12 (.876). When trailing at the break, Robert Morris owns a mark of 10-60-1 (.148). Even going into halftime tied is beneficial, as the Colonials own an overall record of 11-8 (.579) in such games. The Magic Mark - Since the Colonials began play in 1994 there have been 70 games in which Robert Morris has scored 30 or more points. In those contests RMU boasts a record of 66-4 (.944), including a record of 38-4 (.905) in games in which the team scores between 30 and 39 points. In games in which the Colonials score 40 or more points, RMU is a perfect 28-0. RMU Football Historical Tidbits - The inaugural running back at Robert Morris, the late Tim Hall (1994-95), rushed for 2,908 yards in his two seasons as a Colonial. Hall still owns the FCS season and career records for yards per carry, with his season record of 8.7 yards per carry set in 1994 and his twoyear career record of 7.4 established in 1994 and 1995 ... Hall also ranks fourth all-time in the FCS in both rushing yards per game (153.1) and allpurpose yards per game (194.8) ... Former Colonial linebacker James Noel (2002-05) ranks fifth in the FCS record book for career tackles per game (10.7), while his career tackle total of 437 takedowns ranks 12th all-time ... Former linebacker Alex DiMichele (2007-10) averaged 10.0 tackles per game over his three years in a Robert Morris uniform, which ranks 11th all-time in the FCS record book ... Robert Morris has led the nation in passing defense twice in the past 13 years. The Colonials topped the charts in both 1999, when they conceded just 80.80 yards per game through the air, and 2006, when they allowed only 88.70 yards per game via the pass. Did You Know? - Robert Morris owns the all-time FCS record for the most consecutive quarters while holding an opponent scoreless. During the 1996 season, the Colonials went 15 straight quarters without allowing a single point. In fact, the record-setting streak occurred at the beginning of the season. RMU posted three straight shutouts -- 20-0 against Mercyhurst (9/7), 38-0 against Butler (9/14) and 7-0 against Towson State (9/21) -- to open the campaign and then held Central Connecticut State (9/28) scoreless for the first three quarters before finally allowing a point for the first time all season. In all, RMU went 234:04 before allowing a point in 1996. RMU went 9-2 (.818) in 1996, claiming a share of the NEC championship, and conceded just 12.9 points per game. The Last Time a Colonial ...
