THE CAPSULE The Robert Morris University women’s basketball team looks to make it three straight victories when it hosts Bryant University in an Elementary School Day game Monday, Jan. 5, at 10:00 a.m. at the Charles L. Sewall Center. The Colonials upended Akron in last year’s Elementary School Day contest, 85-78, in front over 700 school students. THE SERIES A split in last season’s series marked the first loss by Robert Morris, who leads the all-time meetings at 4-1, to Bryant. RMU is perfect, 3-0, at home against the Bulldogs including a 72-68 victory last year.

BRYANT • Junior Artemis Spanou is a nominee for the FIBA Overall 4-1 Streak W1 Home 3-0 Trend Won 4 of 5 Europe Young Women’s Player of the year for the Away 1-1 Last Game W, 72-68 third time Neutral 0-0 Feb. 20, 2012 • Spanou set a career-high with 17 rebounds vs. Central Michigan. She is fourth nationally averaging 13.2 boards per game • Freshman Ashley Ravelli is the Choice Hotels NEC Rookie of the Week • Senior forward Anna Gailite leads the NEC averaging 2.18 blocks per game • Robert Morris has made it to the NEC Tournament semifinals in seven of the last eight seasons • RMU is 93-24 (.795) at the Sewall Center since 2004-05, including 62-12 (.838) in NEC games SPANOU SET TO JOIN ELITE 1,000-500-200-100 CLUB Junior forward Artemis Spanou is on the verge of doing something only two players in RMU history and only 16 players in NEC history have done — reach 1,000 career points, 500 rebounds, 200 assists and 100 steals. Spanou needs just 11 more assists to become a member of that elite group. The two RMU players to accomplish the feat are Betsy Puskar (1982-86, 1,035 pts., 632 reb., 254 asts., 206 steals) and Chinata Nesbit (2006-08, 1,083 pts., 620 reb., 245 asts., 124 stls.).
