Top Story - The Robert Morris University football team returns home from a trip to Connecticut this Saturday, Oct. 18, as it continues Northeast Conference play by facing Central Connecticut State at Joe Walton Stadium at Noon. The Colonials fell behind early against defending NEC champion and preseason favorite Sacred Heart last week and were never able to get back into the game. The Blue Devils dropped a one-possession game in their NEC opener a week ago and own a win over Towson, a squad that reached the NCAA championship game in 2013. The Blue Devils, like the Colonials, are under the guidance of a first-year head coach as Pete Rossomando took over the reins this past January. Senior Duane Mitchell needs one catch to move into a tie for second place on the RMU all-time receptions list. Rameses Owens ranks second nationally in rushing yardage per game among all true freshmen at the FCS level (83.5). Luke Centofanti is set to become the seventh distinct RMU wide receiver to earn a start in 2014. Robert Morris will turn right around and hit the road next weekend as it travels to Bryant Saturday, Oct. 25. Quick Stat of the Afternoon - While Robert Morris has not performed to its optimal level thus far in 2014, the Colonials have previously demonstrated that all is not lost in this position. This is the five-year anniversary of a 2009 season that saw Robert Morris start 0-6. However, those Colonials finished with a 180 degree turnaround as they won the final five games of their season, which proved to be a springboard to a championship run in 2010. After having a negative turnover differential in the opening six games of 2009, the Colonials posted a +9 differential in their five game winning streak. The RMU defense tallied a significant improvement as it yielded 19 points per game fewer in the closing five games of 2009 compared to the opening six. RMU’s first win in 2009 was the third-career start under center for Jeff Sinclair (2009-12). Quarterback Derik Abbott will be making his third collegiate start this Saturday for the Colonials. Saturday's Opponent - Central Connecticut State is one of just three opponents Robert Morris faced in each of the first 20 years the Colonials fielded an intercollegiate program, joining fellow NEC foes Saint Francis and Wagner. All-time the Colonials are 15-5 (.750) against the Blue Devils. The home team had won eight straight games in the series until RMU won in Connecticut in 2013. In that game, RMU used a program-record 40 points in the first half to cruise to a 54-21 victory. For more information on the all-time series against Central Connecticut State, including the last game recap, please see page four of today’s game notes. On This Date (Oct. 18) in Robert Morris Football History - Robert Morris has played three previous times on October 18 and has yet to come away with a victory. Two of the three times the Colonials played on this date in mid-October, they were meeting non-conference foes on the road. The first game that the Colonials ever played on this date came in 1997 against the program that was last year’s national runner-up. Robert Morris struck first with a touchdown pass, but Towson came roaring back with three touchdowns in under 13 minutes. After the last of those scores, though, Antoine Lee (1997-99) returned a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown. Each team scored once more before the half, giving the Tigers a 27-19 edge at the break. RMU pulled ahead early in the fourth on a Nate List (1994-97) pick-six but was unable to hold on as Towson scored the game’s final touchdown. The game featured nine combined turnovers and was the first contest in RMU history to feature more than one non-offensive Colonial touchdown.

2014 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Central Connecticut State (10/18/14) - Page 3

Head Coach John Banaszak First Season - Eastern Michigan ’75 John Banaszak became the second head football coach in Robert Morris University history in December 2013. He served as an assistant coach and assistant head coach for the Colonials for 11 consecutive years prior to taking over the top spot. Banaszak was selected as Coach-In-Waiting in January 2012, allowing for a simple transition following the 2013 campaign. At the end of the 2013 season, he was named as the Assistant Coach of the Year at the FCS level as selected by the American Football Coaches Association. He was one of five coaches selected for dedication to their teams and communities. He was the first RMU coach, as well as the first from the NEC, to claim this honor. The 2013 season was Banaszak's sixth as assistant head coach for Robert Morris. Among his numerous duties with the program, he was responsible for tutoring the defensive line and the special teams unit. Under Banaszak's guidance in 2013, Robert Morris led the NEC in net punting, punt return defense and punt return average. Banaszak was also a key component in instructing a RMU defense that finished second in the NEC in total defense within league play in 2013. Robert Morris finished its regular season ranked among the top 25 nationally in at least seven defensive categories including total defense. With Banaszak's assistance, RMU has led the NEC in total defense four times in the past 10 years and ranked among the top four nine times in the past 11 seasons. Banaszak was a key component to a 2010 defense that led the NEC in total defense as the Colonials claimed the NEC's inaugural berth in the FCS Playoffs. In 2006, he helped tutor an RMU defense that led I-AA in total defense, allowing an average of just 228.36 yards per game. 10 of the 13 players in school history to earn All-NEC recognition on the defensive line have come under the tutelage of Banaszak, including Nolan Nearhoof (200912), who was named the 2012 NEC Defensive Player of the Year after breaking both the school and league records for career sacks. Nearhoof would go on to earn AllAmerica honors, becoming the third Colonial defensive lineman to claim an AllAmerica nod under Banaszak in a seven-year span. As much as Banaszak's presence has been felt on the defensive side of the ball, the same can be said on special teams. He has helped five distinct Colonials win an award at return specialist within the past decade. A graduate of Eastern Michigan, Banaszak signed as a free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers prior to the 1975 season and was one of only three rookies to make the defending Super Bowl champion team out of training camp. Primarily a special teams player on Pittsburgh's Super Bowl X championship team, Banaszak started five games the following season and then started at both right end and inside tackle in 1977 before suffering a knee injury that forced him to the injured reserve list. Between 1978 and 1980, Banaszak started 45 regular-season games at defensive end as the Steelers won back-to-back Super Bowls. In Super Bowl XIII, Banaszak recorded six tackles, including a pair of sacks, and a fumble recovery in a 35-31 win over the Dallas Cowboys, which garnered him Defensive Player of the Game honors. The following year, Banaszak helped the Steelers to a 31-19 victory over the Rams.

Last RMU Game vs. Central Connecticut State Game #9 Robert Morris 54, Central Connecticut State 21 November 9, 2013 / New Britain, Conn. Arute Field (Attendance: 2,004) - Robert Morris scored 30 points in the second quarter to break open a close game and cruised to a 54-21 victory at Central Connecticut State. With its win over the Blue Devils coupled with other results in the league, RMU moved into sole possession of first place in the NEC. While RMU dominated the game, CCSU actually broke into the scoring column first as the hosts used a nine-play, 74-yard drive to pull ahead fewer than four minutes into the game. RMU came right back and drove into the red zone as Duane Mitchell and Alex Caratelli hauled in passes of at least 20 yards on the drive. The Colonials were forced to settle for a field goal. Robert Morris began producing turnovers on its next drive as D.J. Myers fell on a loose ball in CCSU territory. The Colonial offense made quick work of the takeaway as Paul Jones found Mitchell for an 11-yard scoring strike with the receiver fighting his way over the goal line. After RMU forced the game's first punt, the offense would drive 57 yards on 11 plays to tack on another field goal. Fewer than three minutes later, RMU would turn a six-point lead into a three-possession cushion as Eric Lowry and Kimani Smith brought back interceptions to the end zone. Robert Morris would force a CCSU punt on the next drive, and a strong return by junior cornerback Antwan Eddie moved the ball into Blue Devil territory. The offense would take advantage within four plays as Jones hit tight end Tyler Digby with an eight-yard bullet. The tide of momentum continued for the Colonials as the defense again forced a three-andout, and the offense would cross the goal line on six plays on their next drive. Jones capped the sequence by scrambling and lofting a pass that was hauled in by a lunging Deontae Howard. CCSU tried to pull closer before the half and would move into RMU territory, but Marcelis Branch would notch the Colonials' third pick of the quarter in the waning seconds, keeping the halftime margin at 40-7. After a pair of punts opened the second half, RMU scored with an eight-play drive as fullback Ryan Thermil rushed for a 14-yard touchdown. Two more punts followed before Luke Mueller would notch RMU's fourth interception, corralling a deflected pass. RMU was unable to take advantage on its ensuing drive and two more punts followed, taking the game into the fourth quarter, which allowed a number of Colonial reserves to get action. Last Time Out - Robert Morris was unable to overcome a poor first quarter and dropped its Northeast Conference opener to Sacred Heart on an overcast and wet afternoon … Junior Derik Abbott completed 14-of-24 passes for a career-high 230 yards … Junior Luke Centofanti contributed a career-high 53 receiving yards … Sophomore Andy Smigiera topped the RMU defense with a career-high tying nine tackles … Senior defensive back Antwan Eddie moved into RMU's career top 10 in passes defended against the Pioneers … Each team registered a blocked punt with redshirt senior linebacker Luke Mueller tallying one for RMU, the first blocked kick of his career. Tough Sledding - Robert Morris has faced a string of quality opponents in its opening half dozen games. The combined record of these foes is 26-10 (.722). One is undefeated and nationally ranked, another has one loss and is the first team outside the rankings and two others have just one loss apiece. Each of these opponents has at least three wins, and five of the six are ranked among the top 25 nationally in rushing defense. On Target - Duane Mitchell had a breakout campaign as a junior in 2013 as he reset the single-season school record with 52 receptions and notched 867 receiving yards, the second-highest figure in RMU history. What made those stats even more impressive is that RMU faced four of the top 30 passing defenses in the nation a year ago. Mitchell has posted 32 catches in the first six games of 2014. That has moved him into third in career receiving yards (1,617) and third in receptions at RMU (111). On this year’s pace, Mitchell would fall seven catches shy of tying the RMU record of 145 career receptions. Pick City - Robert Morris ranked among the top 15 nationally in interceptions in 2013, and the Colonial defense is holding its own in this department with seven interceptions in the first six games. RMU has grabbed at least one interception in 11 of its past 13 games and multiple picks in six of those contests. In fact, the Robert Morris defense has tallied 20 interceptions in the team’s past 11 games. Double-Take - After starting the first four games of the season at linebacker, Nic Lamica moved to wide receiver. Lamica has caught seven passes in his first two starts on offense and posted 93 receiving yards and first-career touchdown reception in last week’s game. He had tallied 30 tackles and an interception in four games on defense. Break It Up - The median completion percentage across the FCS in 2014 is 56.5%. Robert Morris has allowed only two of its past 13 opponents to hit that mark. In fact, four times in this stretch, the Colonials have held their opponent under a 45% rate. Double the Fun - Junior Derik Abbott tossed a pair of touchdown passes last week at Sacred Heart and has now thrown for two TD’s in each of his first two starts. In doing so, he became only the second Colonial, and the first since the program’s inaugural season, to throw multiple touchdown passes in each of his first two collegiate starts. Three of Abbott’s four passing touchdowns have been at least 19 yards in length. Go For It - Robert Morirs went 3-for-3 on fourth down in its last home game against Monmouth. It marked the first time they were perfect on fourth down with at least three attempts since October 2011 against Albany (10/15). Making RMU’s feat more noteworthy was that two of the three conversions were longer than eight yards. Runnin' Rameses - True freshman Rameses Owens ran for 154 yards on just 24 carries in his first home start (10/4), averaging over six yards per attempt. What made his effort even more remarkable was that it came against a Monmouth team that was allowing under 100 yards per game on the ground and reamins among the top 15 rushing defenses in the country. He tallied the most rushing yards by an individual against Monmouth in the Hawks' last 29 outings. Owens is responsible for two of the three occurrences in RMU history in which a freshman has topped 150 rushing yards. Start Me Up - Tony LaMancusa enters Saturday's game with the most consecutive starting assignments of all active Colonials as he has served as the punter for 39 straight games. When special teams is excluded, Antwan Eddie and Nick Faraci are tied for the most total starts among active Colonials at 28.

2014 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Central Connecticut State (10/18/14) - Page 6 It's Not on Us - First-year head coach John Banaszak, who previously served in the Marines, has his team playing a very disciplined brand of football. Robert Morris is seventh nationally in fewest penalty yards per game among FCS programs, averaging 36.8 per outing. The Colonials have accumulated fewer penalty yards than their opponent in eight consecutive games, the longest such stretch in program history. Go the Distance - In his first-career start (10/4), junior quarterback Derik Abbott displayed a penchant for orchestrating long scoring drives. Under his command, Robert Morris tallied a nine-play, 85-yard drive and a 15-play, 86-yard drive, both of which culminated in the end zone. It marked the first time in nearly six years that the Colonials produced two scoring drives longer than 80 yards within the same game as the last occurrence was Nov. 1, 2008. Taylor's Trio - After entering 2014 without a career start, junior David Taylor has had quite the impact from his cornerback position thus far this season. Taylor has three interceptions in six games, a mark which has him tied for second in the Northeast Conference. Taylor also blocked a field goal try at Lafayette as he came roaring off the corner to get a piece of the pigskin. Any Given Saturday - Before becoming a record-breaking receiver for RMU, Duane Mitchell began his career as a running back in his rookie season. Since moving to receiver, Mitchell has played in 28 games, and he has caught at least one pass in each of those outings. He has caught multiple passes in 18 of the team's past 19 games. The RMU record for consecutive games with a reception is held by tight end Shadrae King (2008-11), who caught a pass in each of the final 30 games he played. Initial Impressions - A number of RMU players have accrued a ‘first’ in the season’s opening six games. A total of 21 Colonials have made their firstcareer start thus far, 12 on offense and nine on defense. 12 of those 21 had never competed in a collegiate game before 2014. In all, 34 Colonials have made their collegiate debut this season. Luke Brumbaugh became the first redshirt or true freshman to start a season opener at QB for RMU since 1994. Spread the Love - Robert Morris grabbed 16 interceptions in 2013, its secondhighest figure since 1999. What really was noteworthy about RMU's sum was that 11 different Colonials helped produce it, marking the most players to have at least one interception in any RMU season. After Andy Smigiera grabbed a pick in the last home game against Monmouth, 14 distinct Colonials have grabbed at least one interception in the team’s past 13 games. First Scores - Junior Justin Kempka and sophomore Nic Lamica both scored their first collegiate touchdowns on receptions in last week’s game at Sacred Heart. It marked the second straight week that two distinct Colonials scored their first-career touchdown. In all, six different Colonials have found the end zone for the first time in 2014, three shy of RMU’s total from 2013.

Last RMU Game Game #6 • Sacred Heart 52, Robert Morris 13 October 11, 2014 • Fairfield, Conn. Campus Field (Attendance: 654) - Robert Morris was unable to overcome a poor first quarter and dropped its Northeast Conference opener to Sacred Heart, 52-13, on an overcast and wet afternoon. Sacred Heart, fresh off a win over nationally ranked Delaware, proved why it was chosen as the league's preseason favorite as each team opened its NEC slate. Junior Derik Abbott completed 14-of-24 passes for a career-high 230 yards and two touchdowns for RMU, tossing multiple scores for the second straight week. Abbott's touchdown passes were hauled in by junior Justin Kempka and sophomore Nic Lamica with both Colonials finding the end zone for the first time in their respective careers. Lamica, who posted a career-best 93 receiving yards, led a receiving corps that saw junior Luke Centofanti contribute a career-high 53 yards while senior Duane Mitchell, who caught a pass for the 28th consecutive game, totaled 50 receiving yards. True freshman Rameses Owens led the ground attack for RMU with 70 rushing yards while sophomore Andy Smigiera topped the RMU defense with a career-high tying nine tackles. Sacred Heart scored on each of its first-quarter possessions, aided by a blocked punt and a double reverse rush for a touchdown. The Pioneers held the Colonials to punts on their first three drives of the game to jump out to an early lead that they would never relinquish. RMU's first scoring drive culminated on a third-and-goal play where Sacred Heart came ready for the run, but Abbott lofted a pass to a wide open Kempka. Later in the second quarter, RMU drove inside Sacred Heart's 25-yard line, but an untimely fumble stopped the momentum. Sacred Heart scored on its first drive of the second half to dim any hopes of a Colonial comeback. Robert Morris got within a yard of a touchdown on its first possession of the fourth quarter but could not punch it in. Later in the period, Lamica hauled in Abbott's second touchdown pass of the day as he beat his man down the left sideline and made the grab in the end zone. Senior Tony LaMancusa, a four-year starter at punter, broke the Robert Morris career record for punt attempts during the game and now has 231 in his career. Senior defensive back Antwan Eddie moved into RMU's career top 10 in passes defended Saturday.

Score By Quarters 1 2 3 Robert Morris 0 6 0 Time to Buy Stock - The RMU defense was hit hard by graduation losses after Sacred Heart 28 10 7 last season, but one piece the Colonials are happy to have back is linebacker Mike Stojkovic. Stojkovic, who was hampered by injuries in 2013, transferred 2014 Records to Date to RMU from FBS school North Texas where he started nine games as a true Robert Morris (0-6 / 0-1) / Sacred Heart (5-1 / 1-0) freshman, making 48 tackles. He is tied for fourth in the NEC in tackles as he Weather at Kickoff: has 44 stops, 25 solo, 5.0 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery in 2014. 52 degrees; Rain; winds NE @ 9 mph Who Knew - If fans are trying to determine the success the Colonials are likely to have, one barometer they should surprisingly not use is first downs. Each of the last four times that Robert Morris has accumulated more first downs than its opponent it has lost. On the flip side, in their past four wins, the Colonials have only had more first downs than their opponent once.

2014 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Central Connecticut State (10/18/14) - Page 7 For Starters - When Robert Morris took the field last Saturday against Sacred Heart, it sported its sixth distinct offensive starting lineup in the first six games. RMU, which has sported different lineups on offense in its past nine games overall, has seen 18 distinct players start on offense in 2014 alone. Making the Grade - Recently graduated linebacker Kyle Cooper and current senior offensive lineman Nick Faraci were both named Capital One Academic All-District First Team last November. As a result of their first-team selections, both Colonials advanced to the Academic All-America ballot. While this was the first such honor for both Cooper and Faraci, the RMU football program is no stranger to academic successes. These two accolades gave the Colonial program at least one Academic All-District honoree in each of the past 11 seasons, a span in which Robert Morris has taken home 21 overall selections. To put that in perspective, no other NEC school has an active streak of football academic all-district selections longer than two years. Cooper, a sport management major who also earned his Master of Business Administration, had a 3.71 GPA. He had 81 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and forced two turnovers in 2013. Faraci, a nursing major, has a sterling 3.92 GPA. He has started 28 consecutive games at center, the most consecutive starts by any active Colonial on offense or defense. Ramming Defenses - Rameses Owens was named National Freshman of the Week after breaking multiple school records in the team's road opener at North Dakota. He is believed to be the first Colonial ever to earn Freshman of the Week honors from The Sports Network. Owens had a breakout performance as he racked up a game-high 199 rushing yards while finding the end zone once. The 199 yards represented a new RMU record for single-game rushing yardage by a freshman and is among the top 15 marks ever by a RMU running back. Owens finished the day with 237 all-purpose yards. Hurry Up – One of Darrin Hicks' goals as offensive coordinator is to run plays at a high rate. RMU has run at least 80 plays 11 times in its program history with three of those occurrences coming in the first six games of this year. However, the 2004 RMU team ran 80+ plays four times over the course of its season, the most in Colonial history. Catch Me If You Can - Antwan Eddie will have a challenge duplicating his 2013 effort as he became the first Colonial to be named an All-American for a performance on special teams. He returned punts for the first time in his career in 2013 and tallied a singleseason school record 405 yards on 27 returns. He ranked third in the FCS, averaging 15 yards per return, and broke a school record with an 88-yard return for a TD at VMI. Eddie was honored three times in the NEC's weekly special teams category. He also earned postseason acclaim on defense as he garnered All-NEC honors at cornerback.

They'll Be Back - One interesting way to examine the youth of the Colonials is to look at the number of players that started their season opener who will be done with their careers after this season. Of RMU’s 22 offensive and defensive starters from its opener, only three Colonials—two on offense, one on defense—will have used all of their NCAA eligibility when the 2014 campaign is completed.

Punt It - Tony LaMancusa earned All-NEC honors in 2013 after leading the league in punting. He also helped RMU top the NEC in both net punting and punt return defense. LaMancusa, a four-year starter, broke the Robert Morris record for career punts in last week’s game and has currently booted the ball 231 times. He has notched 30 punts downed inside the 20 against only four touchbacks in his last 19 games.

In NFL Training Camp - RMU assistant coach Myles Russ had a unique opportunity to help the Buffalo Bills' staff and running backs during the National Football League team's training camp in late July. Russ, the running backs coach for the Colonials, was one of three individuals selected by the Bills to participate in this year's Bill Walsh Minority Coaching Fellowship program. The Bills ranked second in the NFL in rushing yardage per game (144.2) last season with C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson leading the way. The Bill Walsh Minority Coaching Fellowship is designed to expose talented minority college coaches to the methods and philosophies of NFL training camps. Russ is in his third season on staff and remains the program’s all-time leading rusher (4,271).

Farison Elevated to Assistant Head Coach

Team

Robert Morris University head coach John Banaszak announced September 10 that Scott Farison had been promoted to assistant head coach. Farison is in his 13th season on the sidelines for RMU and is the longest-tenured active member of the staff. He is in his eighth season as the defensive coordinator for the Colonials, and he will retain the responsibility for leading the defense in his new role. "Scott's been here for 13 years and absolutely deserves this promotion to assistant head football coach," Banaszak said. "He performs many duties that are not in his job description and is definitely my right-hand man. Promoting him to assistant head coach is certainly the next step in his career." The Colonials have consistently produced quality defenses under Farison's watch, and last year was no exception. In Farison's 11 seasons coaching the defensive side of the ball at RMU, the Colonials have finished among the top 25 nationally in total defense on six occasions, including finishing among the top 11 on four of those occurrences. Robert Morris has led the Northeast Conference in total defense four times in the past 10 years with guidance from Farison. In 2013, RMU ranked second in total defense within league play, finishing in the top two in that category for the third time in five years. Farison helped the RMU defense finish the regular season among the top 25 nationally in a number of defensive categories including third-down defense, first downs allowed, passing defense, red zone defense, passing efficiency defense, turnovers gained and total defense. Farison has been directly responsible for helping four different Colonials to NEC Defensive Player of the Year honors within the past decade, including two within the past four years. He has also assisted two Colonials to NEC Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in his time at RMU. In Farison's seven seasons as defensive coordinator, he has seen RMU claim 21 All-NEC awards on the defensive side of the ball. Farison had spent the past decade as the recruiting coordinator for Robert Morris, but as part of the move, Banaszak announced that assistant coach Andrew Richardson would assume that role. Richardson, the team's offensive line coach, is in his eighth season on staff with RMU. In Richardson's seven seasons as an assistant, RMU offensive linemen have claimed seven AllNEC honors with two separate Colonials earning All-America awards.

2014 Robert Morris Football Game Notes vs. Central Connecticut State (10/18/14) - Page 9 The Founding Father - The one constant in the first two decades of Colonial football was former head coach Joe Walton. Walton, the former NFL tight end and head coach of the New York Jets, started the program from scratch, completing everything from hiring assistants to purchasing equipment. He was named NEC Coach of the Year four times in 18 seasons and guided RMU to a pair of NCAA I-AA mid-major national crowns during his time on the sidelines. Walton, currently a special assistant to the athletic director at Robert Morris, was inducted into the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame last November. Get To The Chopper - A quick glance at RMU’s record when broken down proves how important it is the Colonials get off to a good start in contests. When Robert Morris is leading at halftime, the program owns an all-time record of 89-13 (.873). When trailing at the break, Robert Morris owns a mark of 12-76-1 (.140). Even going into halftime tied is beneficial, as the Colonials own an overall record of 14-9 (.609) in such games. The Magic Mark - Since the Colonials began play in 1994, there have been 76 games in which Robert Morris has scored 30 or more points. In those contests RMU boasts a record of 71-5 (.934), including a record of 42-5 (.894) in games in which the team scores between 30 and 39 points. In games in which the Colonials score 40 or more points, RMU is a perfect 29-0. RMU Football Historical Tidbits - The inaugural running back at Robert Morris, the late Tim Hall (1994-95), rushed for 2,908 yards in his two seasons as a Colonial. Hall still owns the FCS season and career records for yards per carry, with his season record of 8.7 yards per carry set in 1994 and his twoyear career record of 7.4 established in 1994 and 1995 ... Hall also ranks fourth all-time in the FCS in both rushing yards per game (153.1) and allpurpose yards per game (194.8) ... Former Colonial linebacker James Noel (2002-05) ranks sixth in the FCS record book for career tackles per game (10.7), while his career tackle total of 437 takedowns ranks 14th all-time ... Former linebacker and current assistant coach Alex DiMichele (2008-10) averaged 10 tackles per game over his three years in a Robert Morris uniform, which ranks 13th all-time in the FCS record book ... Robert Morris has topped the nation in passing defense twice in the past 15 years, based on passing efficiency defense rating. The Colonials topped the charts in 1999 (with a 80.80 rating) as well as in 2006 (with a 88.70 rating). Did You Know? - Robert Morris owns the all-time FCS record for the most consecutive quarters while holding an opponent scoreless. During the 1996 season, the Colonials went 15 straight quarters without allowing a single point. In fact, the record-setting streak occurred at the beginning of the season. RMU posted three straight shutouts -- 20-0 against Mercyhurst (9/7), 38-0 against Butler (9/14) and 7-0 against Towson State (9/21) -- to open the campaign and then held Central Connecticut State (9/28) scoreless for the first three quarters before finally allowing a point for the first time all season. In all, Robert Morris went 234:04 before allowing a point in 1996. RMU went 9-2 (.818) in 1996, claiming a share of the NEC championship, and conceded just 12.9 points per game. The Last Time a Colonial ... Rushed for 200 or more yards in a game: Myles Russ, 246 (10/11/08 vs. Duquesne - span of 66 games) ... Robert Morris Captains Head coach John Banaszak recently announced that senior linebacker Mike Stojkovic was named as a captain, giving the Colonials a trio of permanent captains. Robert Morris previously had one offensive captain and one defensive captain with two additional players serving as captains each week on a rotating basis.

OFFENSE Redshirt senior Jon Hill is the team’s captain on offense. Hill is the most experienced offensive lineman on the roster, having played in 31 career games. He started every game at right tackle in 2013 and has also started at right guard. Hill actually entered RMU as a defensive lineman coming out of high school, but he was transitioned to the offensive side of the ball before his sophomore season. DEFENSE Seniors Antwan Eddie and Mike Stojkovic are the team’s captains on defensive. Eddie is a three-year letterwinner and two-year starter at cornerback. He claimed all-conference honors at both defensive back and return specialist last season after breaking the single-season school record for punt return yards. He owns 100 tackles, seven interceptions and 467 punt return yards in his career. Stojkovic transferred to RMU from an FBS program before the 2013 season. After playing only four games due to injury last year, he has started every game at linebacker in 2014. He owns 62 tackles at RMU and 6.5 tackles for loss. Robert Morris On The Airwaves Colonial football games are heard live on ESPN Radio AM-970 Pittsburgh, the flagship station of Robert Morris University athletics. ESPN 970 and RMU reached a threeyear agreement in the summer of 2013 to broadcast football, men’s basketball and men’s hockey games. The Voice of the Colonials, Chris Shovlin, and color analyst Brian Cleary call the football action. RMU Assistant Sports Information Director Spencer Kowitz joins Shovlin as color analyst for select Colonial road games. "The John Banaszak Show" is on 30 minutes prior to kickoff. Games can also be heard on the station’s website, www.970espn. com, as well as on iHeartRadio. RMU home and league games can be seen live for free on NEC Front Row, the conference’s online digital network. The league has added multiple upgrades this year, including the ability to transmit live events in HD as well as providing the ability for the viewer to use a DVR-style, in-game real-time rewind feature.

Since Robert Morris played its first season in 1994, three former Colonials have appeared in a game in the National Football League (NFL), the most among current NEC members in this span as of August 2014. Many players have “rewritten” record books at various schools. At Robert Morris, however, Tim Hall wrote the record book. Hall rushed for 2,908 yards on 393 carries in his two seasons in a Colonial uniform and was named an All-American by the Associated Press in 1995. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the sixth round (183rd player overall) in the 1996 NFL Draft. In 1997, he led the Raiders in yards per carry average with 5.2 and was second in rushing yards to Napolean Kaufman. On Sept. 30, 1998, Hall was shot and killed in Kansas City at age 24. Hank Fraley, who played on the offensive line for Robert Morris from 1996-1999, carved out a niche for himself in the NFL for over a decade. Fraley was a three-time Mid-Major All-American during his years at RMU before he was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers to a free-agent contract in April 2000. Fraley was later claimed by the Eagles and started at center for Philadelphia for the entire 2001 season, helping the team to the 2002 NFC Championship game. For four straight seasons with Fraley starting at center from 2002-05, the Eagles appeared in the NFC Championship game. In 2005, Fraley became the first RMU alum to appear in the Super Bowl when he started at center against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX. Former RMU defensive back Robb Butler played for the San Diego Chargers during the 2004 season and was featured in special teams situations, including returning kickoffs.
