LAST TIME OUT In their most recent outing, the Colonials hosted Connecticut for a two-game series at the 84 Lumber Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa. In the team’s only two home games during the month of January, the Colonials would split the two games with the Huskies. After suffering a setback on Friday night, RMU bouced back for a 4-3 victory on Saturday to earn two points in the AHA standings.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 11TH
The first game of the series saw the Colonials’ consecutive penalty kill streak come to an end at 34 straight kills as Robert Morris allowed two power-play goals in the 3-2 loss against Connecticut. After allowing the game’s first goal less than five minutes in to the first period, the Colonials would fall behind by two goals as UConn scored on the power play in the second period. RMU would cut the deficit in half less than two minutes in to the third period as Adam Brace picked up his seventh goal of the season. A short time later, Connecticut would regain the two-goal lead with their second power-play goal of the game. While on the penalty kill, Robert Morris would make the score 3-2 as Cody Wydo scored shorthanded while drawing a delayed penalty call on the Huskies. The Colonials were unable to grab the game-tying goal in the final minutes with the extra attacker as the setback pushed their AHA record to 5-5-1 before the two teams would meet again on Saturday.
