Robert Morris (0-2) @ Lafayette (0-1) Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. Fisher Stadium (13,132) - Easton, Pa.
Radio: ESPN 970 AM (Chris Shovlin - play-by-play & Spencer Kowitz - color) Audio on the internet at: www.970espn.com / Live Video: www.goleopards.com Top Story - The Robert Morris University football team remains on the road for the second contest of a three-game trip this Saturday, Sept. 13, as it travels the length of Pennsylvania for a meeting with Lafayette at Fisher Stadium at 6:00 p.m. The Colonials had chances to win the game in the fourth quarter in their last time out but dropped a 16-13 decision at North Dakota in the first meeting between the programs. Despite the setback, true freshman Rameses Owens made the most of his first-career start as he tallied 199 rushing yards, the most by a Colonial in a non-conference game since 1995, and was subsequently named The Sports Network National Freshman of the Week. Owens also ran for a touchdown for the second straight game. The Colonial defense allowed only 24 more total yards to North Dakota than FBS member San Jose State yielded to UND in the first week of the season and only permitted one scoring drive longer than 45 yards. RMU will finish its road swing next week by extending the longest-running, nonconference rivalry in school history as it takes on Dayton Saturday, Sept. 20. Quick Stat of the Evening - Robert Morris put forth one of its best yardage performances in recent history in running the ball in last week’s road opener at North Dakota as the Colonials notched 214 yards on the ground. It marked the Colonials’ best rushing total in the program’s past 30 games and the best such figure by RMU in a non-conference game since a 2005 contest that doubled as the program’s inaugural game at Joe Walton Stadium. Meanwhile, RMU held North Dakota to 113 rushing yards, more than 100 clear of its own total. It would stand to reason that rushing for 100+ yards more than one’s opponent would greatly benefit a team’s chances of winning. Indeed, that has proven to be the case in RMU’s history as the Colonials were 43-1 (.977) all-time when outgaining their opponent by at least 100 yards rushing until last week's loss. Robert Morris has had at least one such win in every year in program history except 2007. Saturday's Opponent - Robert Morris and Lafayette will meet for only the second time on the football field Saturday, with the only prior meeting coming at RMU. The Colonials jumped out to a 28-7 halftime lead only to see the Leopards pull even in the fourth quarter. Robert Morris used a 67-yard drive in the final minutes to set up Greg Langer’s (2010-12) game-winning field goal with 19 seconds left. Donte Jeter (2011-13) hauled in seven catches for 131 yards in the contest, including a key 43-yard grab on the final drive. For more information on the all-time series against Lafayette, including the last game recap, please see page four of today’s game notes. On This Date (Sept. 13) in Robert Morris Football History - Robert Morris has played three times before on September 13 but has only come up with one victory. The three contests were decided by a combined 15 points with all being one-possession games. RMU’s lone win on this date came in 1997 when RMU played at Butler for the first time in its young history. The Colonials jumped out to a 12-0 lead at the half and then moved ahead 19-0 near the middle of the third quarter. The Bulldogs then scored two touchdowns in a span of 4:19 to cut the deficit to five points, but RMU came right back with a rushing touchdown. Butler got a late final touchdown, but Robert Morris held on for a 26-21 victory. Archie Wannamaker (1996-98) ran for 125 yards and a score while Jake Newman (1994-97) tossed three touchdowns to three distinct receivers. Nate List (199497) posted a team-high 10 tackles while Brian Dunn (1994-97) grabbed one of his programrecord 19 interceptions, RMU’s lone takeaway of the game.

2014 Robert Morris Football Game Notes @ Lafayette (9/13/14) - Page 3
Head Coach John Banaszak First Season - Eastern Michigan ’75 John Banaszak became the second head football coach in Robert Morris University history in December 2013. He served as an assistant coach and assistant head coach for the Colonials for 11 consecutive years prior to taking over the top spot. Banaszak was selected as Coach-In-Waiting in January 2012, allowing for a simple transition following the 2013 campaign. At the end of the 2013 season, he was named as the Assistant Coach of the Year at the FCS level as selected by the American Football Coaches Association. He was one of five coaches selected for dedication to their teams and communities. He was the first RMU coach, as well as the first from the NEC, to claim this honor. The 2013 season was Banaszak's sixth as assistant head coach for Robert Morris. Among his numerous duties with the program, he was responsible for tutoring the defensive line and the special teams unit. Under Banaszak's guidance in 2013, Robert Morris led the NEC in net punting, punt return defense and punt return average. Banaszak was also a key component in instructing a RMU defense that finished second in the NEC in total defense within league play in 2013. Robert Morris finished its regular season ranked among the top 25 nationally in at least seven defensive categories including total defense. With Banaszak's assistance, RMU has led the NEC in total defense four times in the past 10 years and ranked among the top four nine times in the past 11 seasons. Banaszak was a key component to a 2010 defense that led the NEC in total defense as the Colonials claimed the NEC's inaugural berth in the FCS Playoffs. In 2006, he helped tutor an RMU defense that led I-AA in total defense, allowing an average of just 228.36 yards per game. 10 of the 13 players in school history to earn All-NEC recognition on the defensive line have come under the tutelage of Banaszak, including Nolan Nearhoof (200912), who was named the 2012 NEC Defensive Player of the Year after breaking both the school and league records for career sacks. Nearhoof would go on to earn AllAmerica honors, becoming the third Colonial defensive lineman to claim an AllAmerica nod under Banaszak in a seven-year span. As much as Banaszak's presence has been felt on the defensive side of the ball, the same can be said on special teams. He has helped five distinct Colonials win an award at return specialist within the past decade. A graduate of Eastern Michigan, Banaszak signed as a free agent with the Pittsburgh Steelers prior to the 1975 season and was one of only three rookies to make the defending Super Bowl champion team out of training camp. Primarily a special teams player on Pittsburgh's Super Bowl X championship team, Banaszak started five games the following season and then started at both right end and inside tackle in 1977 before suffering a knee injury that forced him to the injured reserve list. Between 1978 and 1980, Banaszak started 45 regular-season games at defensive end as the Steelers won back-to-back Super Bowls. In Super Bowl XIII, Banaszak recorded six tackles, including a pair of sacks, and a fumble recovery in a 35-31 win over the Dallas Cowboys, which garnered him Defensive Player of the Game honors. The following year, Banaszak helped the Steelers to a 31-19 victory over the Rams.

Last RMU Game vs. Lafayette Game #4 Robert Morris 31, Lafayette 28 September 29, 2012 / Moon Township, Pa. Joe Walton Stadium (Attendance: 3,524) - Senior Greg Langer knocked through a 33-yard field goal with just 19 seconds remaining in regulation to lift Robert Morris to a 31-28 victory over previously undefeated Lafayette in the inaugural meeting between the two programs in front of a standing-room-only crowd. Langer’s winning boot, which was his 10th consecutive made field goal--extending his own program record, came after an eight-play, 67-yard drive that began on RMU’s own 17-yard line with 2:23 remaining. A key play in the drive was a 43-yard completion from Jeff Sinclair to Donte Jeter as the latter outjumped a Leopard defender who was draped over him. Sinclair accounted for a career-high 285 yards of total offense, one of the top 10 single-game totals in RMU history, against the Leopards, a team which was receiving votes in both national polls entering the week. Sinclair rushed 13 times for 84 yards, including a touchdown, and threw for 201 yards and an additional two scores through the air. He also became the third Colonial ever to surpass 60 touchdowns responsible for and the fifth Colonial to reach 5,000 yards of total offense in a career. Jeter caught a career-high seven passes for a career-best 131 yards, giving him back-to-back 100-yard receiving efforts for the first time in his career. While the offense certainly had some significant performances, a number of Colonials stood out on the defensive side of the ball as well as RMU forced three turnovers and scored a defensive touchdown. Freshman Marcelis Branch forced two turnovers by Lafayette in the first half. He intercepted a pass to halt a Leopard drive before drilling Leopard wide receiver Mark Ross to force a fumble, which was subsequently recovered by sophomore linebacker Mike Neilson. Neilson scooped up the ball, his first-ever fumble recovery, and rumbled into the end zone to open the scoring fewer than seven minutes in while subsequently scoring a touchdown for the first time in his career. The play marked the first defensive touchdown for RMU in its past 30 games, dating to the 2009 season. Branch had an amazing day defensively as he also posted a team season-high 15 tackles, 12 of which were of the solo variety, in addition to his two forced turnovers. Senior Brad Banas posted 10 tackles, tying his career high that he set in RMU’s home opener September 8. Banas added a career-best 3.0 tackles for loss, including a sack that helped force a Lafayette punt. Score By Quarters Lafayette Robert Morris

Last Time Out - Robert Morris twice held the lead but was unable to get over the hump and fell to North Dakota, 16-13, inside the Alerus Center … RMU had advantages in a variety of statistical categories including rushing yards (214-113), total yards (363268), first downs (19-10), time of possession (34:41-25:19), third down conversion percentage (8-for-18, 3-for-15) tackles for loss (10.0-8.0) and sacks (2.0-1.0) … Senior linebacker Mike Stojkovic recovered a fumble to set up a RMU touchdown … Luke Brumbaugh tossed his first-career touchdown, a six-yard strike to Duane Mitchell … Sophomore Ryan Lewis tallied his first-career sack in the setback. Ramming Defenses - Rameses Owens was named National Freshman of the Week after breaking multiple school records in the team's road opener. He is believed to be the first Colonial ever to earn Freshman of the Week honors from The Sports Network. Owens had a breakout performance as he racked up a game-high 199 rushing yards while finding the end zone once. The 199 yards represents a new RMU record for single-game rushing yardage by a freshman and is among the top 15 performances ever by a RMU running back. Owens added a 38-yard reception to finish with 237 all-purpose yards. Seeing Red - After ranking 19th nationally in red zone defense a year ago, Robert Morris, despite having eight new starters on defense, has continued to impress in this area thus far in 2014. RMU has allowed only two touchdowns on its opponents’ 10 trips to the red zone. In fact, Eastern Kentucky and North Dakota combined for five trips inside RMU’s 10-yard line, but the Colonials have allowed only one TD on those drives. On Target - Duane Mitchell had a breakout campaign as a junior in 2013 as he reset the single-season school record with 52 receptions and notched 867 receiving yards, the second-highest figure in RMU history. What made those stats even more impressive is that RMU faced four of the top 30 passing defenses in the nation a year ago. Mitchell has notched 15 catches in the first two games. That has moved him into fifth in career receiving yards (1,427) and a tie for fourth in receptions (94). On his current pace from 2014, Mitchell would break the RMU record for career receptions (145) Nov. 8. No Passing Zone - The Robert Morris defense showed vast improvement from Week 1 to Week 2. Last week at North Dakota, RMU held the hosts to 268 yards of total offense and a 8-for-22 mark passing. It’s the fourth time in RMU’s past eight games in which the Colonials have held their opponent to under 290 yards of offense and the fourth time in seven contests that RMU kept an opponent under a 43% completion mark. Catch Me If You Can - Antwan Eddie will have a challenge in duplicating his 2013 season as he became the first Colonial to be named an All-American for a performance on special teams. He returned punts for the first time in his career in 2013 and tallied a singleseason school record 405 yards on 27 returns. He ranked third in the FCS, averaging 15 yards per return, and broke a school record with an 88-yard return for a TD at VMI. Eddie was honored three times in the league’s weekly special teams category and registered a return of 10+ yards in eight of the nine games in which he attempted a return. Pick City - Robert Morris ranked among the top 15 nationally in interceptions in 2013, and the Colonial defense got off to a strong start in this department with three INT’s in Week 1. That extended a streak of RMU grabbing at least one pick in eight consecutive games, but the Colonials were unable to keep it going last week at UND. However, the RMU defense still has tallied 16 interceptions in the team’s past seven games. Punt It - Tony LaMancusa earned All-NEC honors in 2013 after leading the league in punting. He also helped RMU top the NEC in both net punting and punt return defense. He started off 2014 well as he tied a single-game school record, which he had already achieved once, with four punts downed inside the 20-yard line. LaMancusa has notched 27 punts downed inside the 20 against only four touchbacks in his last 15 games. Start Me Up - Tony LaMancusa enters Saturday's game with the most consecutive starting assignments of all active Colonials as he has served as the punter for 35 straight games. When special teams is excluded, Antwan Eddie and Nick Faraci are tied for the most total starts among active Colonials at 24.
2014 Robert Morris Football Game Notes @ Lafayette (9/13/14) - Page 6 Mix It Up - Darrin Hicks has shown he’s not afraid to try different strategies in RMU’s first two games. In the season opener, Luke Brumbaugh set a school record with 51 pass attempts, 28 of which he completed. Last week at North Dakota, Rameses Owens set a school record with 39 rushing attempts. Spread the Love - Robert Morris grabbed 16 interceptions in 2013, its secondhighest figure since 1999. What really was noteworthy about RMU's sum was that 11 different Colonials helped produce it, marking the most players to have at least one interception in any RMU season. After two different Colonials grabbed picks in the season opener, 13 distinct Colonials have grabbed at least one interception in the team’s past nine games. Any Given Saturday - Before becoming a record-breaking receiver for RMU, Duane Mitchell began his career as a running back in his rookie season. Since moving to receiver, Mitchell has played in 24 games, and he has caught at least one pass in each of those outings. He has caught multiple passes in 15 consecutive games as well as 22 of the past 24 outings. The RMU record for consecutive games with a reception is held by tight end Shadrae King (200811), who caught a pass in each of the final 30 games he played. First Impressions - A number of RMU players have accrued a ‘first’ in the season’s opening two games. A total of 18 Colonials have made their firstcareer start thus far, nine on offense and nine on defense. 11 of those 18 had never competed in a collegiate game before 2014. In all, 29 Colonials have made their collegiate debut this season. Luke Brumbaugh became the first redshirt or true freshman to start a season opener at QB for RMU since 1994. Five Guys - Even with RMU sporting two new starters on the line, including a redshirt freshman at left tackle, the Colonials are protecting their rookie quarterback well. RMU has only allowed three sacks in its first two games, tied for the lowest such figure in program history. The last time the Colonials allowed only three sacks in their first two games came in 2000. Time to Buy Stock - The RMU defense was hit hard by graduation losses after last season, but one piece the Colonials are happy to have back is linebacker Mike Stojkovic. Stojkovic, who was hampered by injuries in 2013, transferred to RMU from FBS school North Texas where he started nine games as a true freshman, making 48 tackles. He has had a strong start to 2014 as he has 17 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery through two games. Welcome Back - After missing the season opener, redshirt senior linebacker Luke Mueller got his season started a big way at North Dakota. Mueller tallied eight solo tackles, a career high. He added two tackles for loss and a pass breakup. His biggest stop might have come when he stuffed the ballcarrier at the 1-yard line for no gain, helping keep UND out of the end zone on that drive. Two Is Better Than One - While Antwan Eddie earned major notice for his special teams effort in 2013, he also earned All-NEC honors at cornerback. He tallied three interceptions in 2013 and had at least one pass breakup in each of the final four games. He was honored in the NEC's defensive player of the week category in 2013 after holding the league’s all-time leading receiver, who was in NFL camp this sumer, to two catches for 22 yards. He became the first Colonial since 2005 to earn All-NEC honors at two positions. Pack Your Bags - Although Robert Morris opened at home for just the second time since 2008, Colonials fans will have to wait awhile to see RMU again. The trip to Lafayette is the second of three straight weeks on the road for RMU, marking only the second time in school history that RMU has played three road games in three weeks. An added element of intrigue is that two of the three places RMU is visiting, it has never played before in program history.
Last RMU Game Game #2 • North Dakota 16, Robert Morris 13 September 6, 2014 • Grand Forks, N.D. Alerus Center (Attendance: 9,118) - Rameses Owens broke multiple school records, but Robert Morris was unable to get over the hump and fell to North Dakota, 16-13, in non-conference action. RMU opened the scoring and also fought back to take the lead in the second half, but the Colonials were unable to come out on top. UND received the opening kick, but RMU held it to only 17 yards. The Colonials were backed up near their own goal line on their first drive and were able to pick up two first downs before punting. Senior Mike Stojkovic came up with a big play on the next drive as he recovered a fumble by the hosts. RMU promptly marched 57 yards on seven plays to find the end zone. A Luke Brumbaugh 38-yard pass to Owens was the big play of the drive before the quarterback rolled to his right and threw a strike to Duane Mitchell for the touchdown. RMU forced a three-and-out on UND's next drive. After two empty drives, a fumble on special teams gave UND a golden chance, taking over at the RMU 31-yard line. North Dakota moved to the brink of scoring a touchdown as it drove to the 1-yard line, but the Colonial defense stiffened and forced the hosts to settle for a field goal. Robert Morris was backed up on its next drive and forced to punt from poor field position. UND took advantage on its ensuing drive as it drove just 19 yards before knocking through a game-tying field goal. Three more punts followed before North Dakota took advantage of a short field as it drove 32 yards before hitting a 35-yard field goal to take a 9-6 lead into the half. Robert Morris came out of the break firing on all cylinders as it marched 78 yards on 14 plays to take the lead with its second touchdown on the day. Owens, who carried nine times for 48 yards on the drive, punched it in from two yards. North Dakota immediately came back as it used a long kickoff return and then pulled back ahead on a 32-yard pass play. RMU then moved 72 yards into the UND red zone on its next drive, but a field goal attempt would sail wide. The Colonial defense forced the hosts into a three-and-out right near the end of the third quarter. The following four drives saw three punts and a missed field goal by North Dakota. RMU then drove 55 yards to the North Dakota red zone on its next possession, but a field goal try was partially blocked. The Colonial defense forced three-and-outs on the final two UND possessions of the game. However, despite moving into North Dakota territory on one of its final two drives, Robert Morris was unable to put itself in a positon to retake the lead. 2014 Robert Morris Football Game Notes @ Lafayette (9/13/14) - Page 7 A New Look Offense - While John Banaszak is only the second head coach in Robert Morris football history, Darrin Hicks is only the second offensive coordinator for the Colonials as former head coach Joe Walton performed the duty for the past 20 years. Hicks was hired in December and brings 17 years of collegiate coaching experience to RMU, including 10 as an offensive coordinator. Hicks’ numerous accomplishments include helping Delta State win games in the Division II Tournament in back-to-back years, including reaching the quarterfinals in 2008. Hicks, an all-conference offensive lineman who helped Washington & Jefferson reach the national championship game as a player, espouses an up-tempo attack. Way to Start – Through two games, RMU’s leading tackler is none other than Nic Lamica, a Colonial seeing his first game action this season. Lamica leads the team in tackles (19) and is tied for the lead in solo stops (11). He also has netted 2.0 tackles for loss, an interception and two pass breakups in his first pair of collegiate appearances. Making the Grade - Recently graduated linebacker Kyle Cooper and current senior offensive lineman Nick Faraci were both named Capital One Academic All-District First Team last November. As a result of their first-team selections, both Colonials advanced to the Academic All-America ballot. While this was the first such honor for both Cooper and Faraci, the RMU football program is no stranger to academic successes. These two accolades gave the Colonial program at least one Academic All-District honoree in each of the past 11 seasons, a span in which Robert Morris has taken home 21 overall selections. To put that in perspective, no other NEC school has an active streak of football academic all-district selections longer than two years. Cooper, a sport management major who also earned his Master of Business Administration, had a 3.71 GPA. He had 81 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and forced two turnovers in 2013. Faraci, a nursing major, has a sterling 3.92 GPA. He has started 24 consecutive games at center, the most consecutive starts by any active Colonial on offense or defense. Hurry Up - One of Darrin Hicks’ goals as offensive coordinator is to run plays at a high rate. The Colonials notched 80 offensive plays in their road opener at North Dakota, the program’s most in a game since 2004 and a school record for any non-conference outing. RMU improved that toal from its season opener where it ran 75 plays. In a NFL Training Camp - RMU assistant coach Myles Russ had a unique opportunity to help the Buffalo Bills' staff and running backs during the National Football League team's training camp in late July. Russ, the running backs coach for the Colonials, was one of three individuals recently selected by the Bills to participate in this year's Bill Walsh Minority Coaching Fellowship program. The Bills ranked second in the NFL in rushing yardage per game (144.2) last season with C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson leading the way. The Bill Walsh Minority Coaching Fellowship is designed to expose talented minority college coaches to the methods and philosophies of NFL training camps. Russ is in his third season and remains the program’s all-time leading rusher (4,271). They'll Be Back - One interesting way to examine the youth of the Colonials is to look at the number of players that started their season opener who will be done with their careers after this season. Of RMU’s 22 offensive and defensive starters from its opener, only three Colonials—two on offense, one on defense—will have used all of their NCAA eligibility when the 2014 campaign is completed. In a NFL Training Camp, Part II - A.J. Dalton, a senior on last year’s RMU team, signed a free-agent contract with the Detroit Lions in May and participated in the team’s training camp. Dalton made 37 starts on the offensive line, playing left tackle for the majority of his tenure. He was selected as an All-American in 2013, becoming just the second RMU offensive lineman in school history to earn such an honor. I'll Have Seconds - Junior David Taylor had quite the performance in his first-career start in the season opener. He notched the first two interceptions of his career and added a career-high 10 tackles. Taylor became the 17th distinct Colonial to have multiple INT in a game, and his effort made 2014 the third straight year that a Colonial has had a multi-interception game.

Robert Morris Assistant Coaches
Team
Scott Farison (defensive coordinator; Mercyhurst '01): Farison enters his 13th season as an assistant coach at Robert Morris and is currently the longest-tenured active member of the staff. He spent the past 10 seasons as the recruiting coordinator and is entering his eighth season as defensive coordinator. The Colonials have consistently produced quality defenses under Farison’s watch. In Farison’s 11 seasons coaching the defensive side of the ball at RMU, the Colonials have finished among the top 25 nationally in total defense on six occasions, including finishing among the top 11 in four of those years. Farison has been directly responsible for helping four different Colonials to NEC Defensive Player of the Year honors within the past decade, including two within the past four years. Darrin Hicks (offensive coordinator; Washington & Jefferson ’96): Hicks is in his first season on staff at Robert Morris and directly coaches quarterbacks as part of his duties. For more on Coach Hicks, please see the top of page 7. Andrew Richardson (offensive line; Penn State ’05): Richardson is entering his eighth season as an assistant for Robert Morris and has also served as assistant recruiting coordinator. In Richardson’s seven seasons on staff, Colonial offensive linemen have claimed seven All-NEC honors, with two of those honorees earning AllAmerica awards within the past four seasons. Bill Hurley (secondary; Syracuse ’80): Hurley is entering his sixth season on staff at RMU. Hurley has seen his defensive backs take home seven All-NEC honors, four by corners and three by safeties, in his five years in addition to a major postseason award. Drafted as a safety in the fourth round of the 1980 draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Hurley played two seasons in the NFL with New Orleans and Buffalo. Patrick Shepard (receivers; Miami University ’09): Shepard enters his sixth season with Robert Morris but his first with receivers after he coached tight ends the past five seasons. Shepard, who is also the program's video coordinator, saw his tight ends earn all-league honors in four of the past five years. Paul Mulbah (assistant secondary; Duquesne ’08): Mulbah begins his third season working with Robert Morris. In the 2013 season, with Mulbah’s assistance, Robert Morris led the league in passing defense efficiency within league play as the secondary held opponents to a meager 87.3 passing rating. Myles Russ (running backs; Robert Morris ’11): Russ is entering his third season on staff with Robert Morris. He was named the 2010 Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Year after averaging 5.8 yards per carry. Alex DiMichele (inside linebackers; Robert Morris ’11): DiMichele is entering his third season as an assistant with RMU. After working with defensive linemen for the past two years, he will work with linebackers this year. One of the top players in school history, he was the lynchpin to the defense that led RMU to the 2010 NEC title. Cornelius Coleman (defensive line; Waynesburg ’99): Coleman enters his first season on the football staff at Robert Morris. Coleman most recently served as the assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator at Averett University, where he was a member of the Cougars' staff for seven seasons. Nick McVay (H-backs and tight ends; Otterbein ’13): McVay begins his first season on staff with RMU. He was an intern with the program last year and assisted the defensive coaching staff.

2014 Robert Morris Football Game Notes @ Lafayette (9/13/14) - Page 9 The Founding Father - The one constant in the first two decades of Colonial football was former head coach Joe Walton. Walton, the former NFL tight end and head coach of the New York Jets, started the program from scratch, completing everything from hiring assistants to purchasing equipment. He was named NEC Coach of the Year four times in 18 seasons and guided RMU to a pair of NCAA I-AA mid-major national crowns during his time on the sidelines. Walton, currently a special assistant to the athletic director at Robert Morris, was inducted in the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame last November. Get To The Chopper - A quick glance at RMU’s record when broken down proves how important it is the Colonials get off to a good start in contests. When Robert Morris is leading at halftime, the program owns an all-time record of 89-13 (.873). When trailing at the break, Robert Morris owns a mark of 12-72-1 (.147). Even going into halftime tied is beneficial, as the Colonials own an overall record of 14-9 (.609) in such games. The Magic Mark - Since the Colonials began play in 1994, there have been 76 games in which Robert Morris has scored 30 or more points. In those contests RMU boasts a record of 71-5 (.934), including a record of 42-5 (.894) in games in which the team scores between 30 and 39 points. In games in which the Colonials score 40 or more points, RMU is a perfect 29-0. RMU Football Historical Tidbits - The inaugural running back at Robert Morris, the late Tim Hall (1994-95), rushed for 2,908 yards in his two seasons as a Colonial. Hall still owns the FCS season and career records for yards per carry, with his season record of 8.7 yards per carry set in 1994 and his twoyear career record of 7.4 established in 1994 and 1995 ... Hall also ranks fourth all-time in the FCS in both rushing yards per game (153.1) and allpurpose yards per game (194.8) ... Former Colonial linebacker James Noel (2002-05) ranks sixth in the FCS record book for career tackles per game (10.7), while his career tackle total of 437 takedowns ranks 14th all-time ... Former linebacker and current assistant coach Alex DiMichele (2008-10) averaged 10 tackles per game over his three years in a Robert Morris uniform, which ranks 13th all-time in the FCS record book ... Robert Morris has led the nation in passing defense twice in the past 15 years, based on passing efficiency defense rating. The Colonials topped the charts in 1999 (with a 80.80 rating) as well as in 2006 (with a 88.70 rating). Did You Know? - Robert Morris owns the all-time FCS record for the most consecutive quarters while holding an opponent scoreless. During the 1996 season, the Colonials went 15 straight quarters without allowing a single point. In fact, the record-setting streak occurred at the beginning of the season. RMU posted three straight shutouts -- 20-0 against Mercyhurst (9/7), 38-0 against Butler (9/14) and 7-0 against Towson State (9/21) -- to open the campaign and then held Central Connecticut State (9/28) scoreless for the first three quarters before finally allowing a point for the first time all season. In all, Robert Morris went 234:04 before allowing a point in 1996. RMU went 9-2 (.818) in 1996, claiming a share of the NEC championship, and conceded just 12.9 points per game. The Last Time a Colonial ... Rushed for 200 or more yards in a game: Myles Russ, 246 (10/11/08 vs. Duquesne - span of 62 games) ... Passed for 300 or more yards in a game: Paul Jones, 321 (9/28/13 @ VMI - span of 9 games) ... Passed for 400 or more yards in a game: Rich Demaio, 444 (11/15/03 @ Duquesne - span of 110 games) ... Robert Morris Captains Head coach John Banaszak has elected to continue with the basic setup that Robert Morris used in regard to its captains a year ago. RMU has chosen two captains—one offensive and one defensive—for the duration of the season. An additional captain(s) will be chosen each game week on a rotating basis. The extra captain(s) could come from any area of the team.
OFFENSE Redshirt senior Jon Hill was selected as the team’s captain on the offensive end. Hill is the most experienced offensive lineman on the roster, having played in 27 career games. He started every game at right tackle in 2013 and also started at right guard during the 2012 campaign. Hill actually entered Robert Morris as a defensive lineman coming out of high school, but he was transitioned to the offensive side of the ball before his sophomore season. DEFENSE Senior Antwan Eddie was named as the team’s captain on the defensive end. Eddie is a three-year letterwinner and two-year starter at cornerback for the Colonials. He claimed all-conference honors at both defensive back and return specialist last season after breaking the singleseason school record for punt return yards. He owns 89 tackles, five interceptions and 408 punt return yards in his career. He earned Third Team All-America honors from The Sports Network at punt returner a year ago. Robert Morris On The Airwaves Colonial football games are heard live on ESPN Radio AM-970 Pittsburgh, the flagship station of Robert Morris University athletics. ESPN 970 and RMU reached a threeyear agreement in the summer of 2013 to broadcast football, men’s basketball and men’s hockey games. The Voice of the Colonials, Chris Shovlin, and color analyst Brian Cleary call the football action. RMU Assistant Sports Information Director Spencer Kowitz joins Shovlin as color analyst for select Colonial road games. "The John Banaszak Show" is on 30 minutes prior to kickoff. Games can also be heard on the station’s website, www.970espn. com, as well as on iHeartRadio. RMU home and league games can be seen live for free on NEC Front Row, the conference’s online digital network. The league has added multiple upgrades this year, including the ability to transmit live events in HD as well as providing the ability for the viewer to use a DVR-style, in-game real-time rewind feature.

Since Robert Morris played its first season in 1994, three former Colonials have appeared in a game in the National Football League (NFL), the most among current NEC members in this span as of August 2014. Many players have “rewritten” record books at various schools. At Robert Morris, however, Tim Hall wrote the record book. Hall rushed for 2,908 yards on 393 carries in his two seasons in a Colonial uniform and was named an All-American by the Associated Press in 1995. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the sixth round (183rd player overall) in the 1996 NFL Draft. In 1997, he led the Raiders in yards per carry average with 5.2 and was second in rushing yards to Napolean Kaufman. On Sept. 30, 1998, Hall was shot and killed in Kansas City at age 24. Hank Fraley, who played on the offensive line for Robert Morris from 1996-1999, carved out a niche for himself in the NFL for over a decade. Fraley was a three-time Mid-Major All-American during his years at RMU before he was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers to a free-agent contract in April 2000. Fraley was later claimed by the Eagles and started at center for Philadelphia for the entire 2001 season, helping the team to the 2002 NFC Championship game. For four straight seasons with Fraley starting at center from 2002-05, the Eagles appeared in the NFC Championship game. In 2005, Fraley became the first RMU alum to appear in the Super Bowl when he started at center against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX. Former RMU defensive back Robb Butler played for the San Diego Chargers during the 2004 season and was featured in special teams situations, including returning kickoffs.
